FYI the firefly song is sung by Hou Minghao, our male lead. The episode outro is sung by Liu Yuning.

I think Love Between Fairy And Devil would have been an easier intro to xianxia. Also Love Game In Eastern Fantasy, where the "game control" explains the magic system.

How come it had been so long since u watched the first 9 episode do you usually film way ahead of schedule

Bobby Tadd

Im with you though on how complicated this type of drama is, ive found myself having to rewatch a few episodes just to try and understand everything

I fully understand how much of a struggle it is to comprehend the system of magic in xianxia. However, it is also a big trend that xianxia in its subgenres are all different. Many of these dramas choose different myths, different interpretations of mortal/immortal worlds and follow different power grading. It's definitely an added layer of difficulty with Love in the Clouds because it is like watching a historical drama set in a made up version of Earth. Even by Chinese mythology this drama steers in a different direction than strictly authentic xianxia dramas. It is also due to the fact that it is based off of a novel. Many Wuxia dramas also end up following the same trends and picking which elements to keep while inserting a lot of unique tropes and plot points. It saddens me a bit to hear this drama is overwhelming, but I do hope you can stick it out and ask for a helping hand in from comments. Also google things perhaps in the process of watching. Because there will inevitably always be a learning curve when watching anything thats from a different culture and ALSO set in that culture's morphed and fictionalised mythology.

They definitely explain a lot of aspects I feel like in Love between fairy and devil. I agree its a great intro into Xianxia.

I absolutely adore this drama and since it was among my first real xianxia to watch I understand it's confusing but I will also mention at this point in time I think we are meant to be confused about several things. Either way, I joined patreon for this drama so I'm happy to explain anything I can.

Although this is based on a novel, the novel storyline is completely different apart from the tournament and how Bozai meets Ming Yi. IMO this is better than the novel.

Brissygirl

I think he filmed so far in advance because he was dealing copyright BS on youtube and couldn't upload stuff to his main channel for nearly 2 weeks, So while that was happening he was recording stuff for patreon and his second channel. Although this isn't on youtube yet.
