Man this EP is good but frustrating too. Like the heart array is amazing and shows that they implicitly trust each other, their motivations in that moment, and that they share love. But then MING YI JUST WONT TELL JI BOZAI AND IT DRIVES ME BATTY. and the end where she admits she spiked the drink and since he trusts her he's like alright that's fine and drinks anyways. Ahhhhhhh.

I don't know when you recorded this but Viki was buffering infinitely over the past weekend. crazy.

It's such a classic. "I can't tell him now" story line. If this wasn't my fifteenth version of this type of story I would be mad but we know why they are doing this.

I recorded this one yesterday (or maybe the day before) and it was horrible. Had to switch

She was raised to fight alone. The one time she was hurt and vulnerable and asked for help, she was banished by her mother and told not to return. She didn't even receive money to support herself. So her reluctance to tell him the truth is understandable, especially since he is so happy that "she is the only one who isn't interested in the Golden Millet Dream". She also doesn't want to make him choose between saving her and keeping his promise to his master by giving her the potion. She doesn't want him to become resentful of her in the future because of this decision. She is exactly in the situation she described to her companion a few episodes ago — either she gives up and dies a good person, or she steals the potion and lives but becomes a bad person.

She’s so terrified of breaking his heart. It’s so frustrating but, the fear is so real. It’s because Mingyi knows that even if he would save her, she’s going to destroy his trust. She can’t bring herself to hurt him even at the cost of herself. In a way, that’s a form of love. Tragic but beautiful at the same time. At the same time, Mingyi doesn’t understand that not giving Ji Bozai the right to choose is what’ll truly betray his trust. This is actually so in character with her though because she’s been living with a false identity her whole life, she doesn’t actually understand how to trust people. It really is a tragedy of circumstances. I can relate to the contradictory nature of it all.
