Since you asked for suggestions for musicals, you might consider watching The Blues Brothers (1980) sometime. It stars John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, and it was directed by John Landis. This film is an unusual combination of the genres of musical, comedy, and action. Few films can even attempt this kind of combination, but it works very well in this film, and the comedy remains as hilarious as it was when it was first released in 1980: Be ready for a lot of laughs with this one.
