I was at the University of Georgia from 2005 to 2007. I ate at Mellow Mushroom once back then. It was good, not great. I never ate it again while in Georgia, mostly because it was kind of expensive. As I remember it was sort of on the leading edge of unique pizzas, at least in the South. They had multiple vegetarian pizzas, toppings not available at other places, etc. I ate at Mellow Mushroom again for the first time last year in St. Louis. I thought it was okay, but it isn't really the type of pizza I like these days. Their regular crust is just too much. I don't need a bunch of drizzles and add ons and what not. I don't think it's terrible, but I have no reason to go back another time.

Man, mellow mushroom in VA is really decent middle-of-the-road pizza. Not the best, but the best of the average. This may be the only episode during which I’ve felt strongly the DB’s were wrong, and either: 1.) had a freak bad order; 2.) have a crazy taste in pizza; or, 3.) were in a semi-combative mood regarding all of GA, and, instead of kicking the ass of every citizen there, decided to go easy and just kick the ass of their local cuisine.

Mellow mushroom has pretty big variance in how good certain pizzas are on the menu so I get why they didn’t like it, especially if you don’t appreciate the half wheat crust taste. Probably would have had a better outing with the meat pizza and white mushroom pies.
