Not_a_gov_contractor

Potbelly just unleashed the $20 for 4 sandwiches, 4 chips, and 4 cookies meal which made it a better deal than getting 2 of each at a time. I got 4x of the same meal combo. What are the best fast food or chain restaurant deals you have come across?

Ryan

Favorite foreign fast food experience? I had McDonalds in Vienna and it was incredible. Tasted like much fresher ingredients than here in the U.S.

Mark McClafferty

Are there any meals/restaurants that you went without during the quarantine even though they offered take-out because it just wouldn’t have been as good as dining in?

Doctor Remulak

What will fast food restaurants look like in a year? Will there be any fundamental changes that will stick in a post COVID world?

Mike F

Bagel Bites or Pizza rolls? This a source of tension in my marriage.

Patrick Gremillion

If you could replace one of the 3 flavors in neopolitan ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry for the very few who somehow do not know), which would it be and flavor would you include in its place? I may be in the minority, but I’d choose to take out chocolate and put in peanut butter!! Y’all are hunks much peace ✌🏻

Jackson

What’s a place you have been and loved but haven’t had a chance to review for the podcast?

Erica Logan

Hooray Lars!

Is there a fast food place that is accessible to you, that you never go to? There is a sonic near me but I never have the desire to eat there. I have no bad memories of Sonic but it’s a place that I’ll always drive past to go to another joint. Wait, am I missing out? Is sonic good? I’ve wasted my life...

Gabbagoon

You can replace one part of your body with a food item that regenerates after every bite you take. Which body part and food item would you choose?

Dan

My dad always eats Oreos in the weirdest way - he takes the cookies apart, scrapes the cream filling onto a napkin, crushes up some cookies in a glass of milk, and then eats the cookies and drinks the milk. It’s incredibly cursed. Do you guys have (or used to have) any "cursed" ways that you eat your snacks? Thank you!

Walker TKL

In a recent episode you guys talked about the many new flavors of Pringles. Do you view the proliferation of wacky flavors in snacks as a net positive or is it food science run amok? Should snack and cereal brands be more discerning in the flavors they produce or is it necessary to throw everything against the wall and see what sticks?

Brett Hawkins

What futuristic food innovations in movies/TV do you wish existed in real life? For example, in Fifth Element, when Leeloo puts those granules on a plate then pops them into that microwave, and out pops a full chicken dinner 2 seconds later.

Missy Johnson

You both love food, movies and music (allegedly), so in a mash-up of all three: what is the best movie score or soundtrack to have playing in the background while you share a meal with your sweeties?

Francis Scott Young

I have never been to a In n Out in Southern California. The only In n Outs I frequent are here in Texas. Do you think I have experienced a true In n Out encounter or should I make my way to the Golden Coast for a real In n Out meal?

Raw Dog McQuade

Is Mitch gonna audition for James Garretson on the new tiger king show?

Martin Teller

Have you ever looked up the definition of "varietal"?

Brent LaCroix

Are there any foods that are always better when made at home compared to their restaurant version? For example I can't think of any potato salad I've ever had at a restaurant that was as good as the homemade version.

Kyle Beaudette

Two questions: 1. Would you guys ever do an episode where you cook each other and guest(s) a meal and then decide who wins Top Chef? 2. Mitch, have you ever farted so loud that Wally and Erma run out of the room in fear?

The Hunger.

Why don't we get anymore moments of meow?

Chaz

Hey doughboys, what are your top hot sauce go to’s -signed fellow heatseaker

Octavis Witcher

If given a choice would you: A. Choose to be quarantined in a fast food restaurant of your choice with a person of your choosing. In this scenario you have access to the phone that is shipped to the restaurant but no knowledge on how to assemble/cook properly. B. You are quarantined in a this restaurant with a stranger who is the head chef with the same access to food and knowledge on how to make whatever you want properly at any time you want.

Kyle Jameson

Has there been a limited-time menu item that you were really excited for that either brutally disappointed you or completely exceeded your expectations?

Poppin' Bottles

What is the #1 dish for Brown Gravy and what is the #1 dish for White Gravy? I'd go roasted turkey (brown) and chicken fried steak (white). #GravyGoals

Gordon Keller

Hi Doughboys — I used to work at a Wingstop in Santa Cruz, and part of onboarding was initiation with an Atomic Sauce wing (sorta weak sauce and lame rite of passage, but whatever). If you could make up an “initiation” for new employees at a fast food joint, where would it be and what would it entail? Thanks - Gordon

Bryan Gerace

What is your favorite food that imitates another food? Ex: Pizza flavored Pringles

Dominique Glassman

When I was a kid, I used to wish ALL the time that ice cream was super healthy, and broccoli was unhealthy and incredibly bad for you. Which food do you wish was incredibly healthy for you but isn't? and which healthy food do you wish was actually bad for you? Love, Dominique

Casey h

What is the food that you could eat even if you’re completely stuffed?

Brian Edwards

What's a food that you usually only get while on vacation?

DFrye

Have you guys ever had any “food shocks” that you remember? Biting in to something expecting something and having it be completely different? Example: when I was a 6 or 7 my friend’s mom made us PB&J sandwiches for lunch and I bit into it and she had also put mayo on it. I was disgusted and she acted like I was crazy for wanting a PB&J without mayo.

Christopher Chiasson

What food never quite lives up to the platonic ideal you have of it in your head? I love the notion of a Turkey Club sandwich. 3 pieces of bread? Damn. Whenever I see it on a menu I say to myself: "oh boy, looks like I'll be joining the turkey club today!" But when it arrives I'm almost always disappointed. No matter the objective quality of the sandwich, I leave the restaurant feeling more depressed then usual. I've created an idea of the food in my head that reality will never be able to meet. What food do you think is really delicious in theory, but it never meets your expectations?

Natasha Willis

Where do you START your grocery store shopping trips? In the produce aisle? In the bakery? What’s the logic/reasoning behind your grocery plan of attack?

Jon P.

You’re stuck on a desert island but, luckily, you discovered a buffet table that magically replenishes itself. It has six available stations and whatever you choose to fill them with initially is what you’re stuck with forever - what are you choosing to fill these six stations?

Christian

Did any of your parents make strange or memorably interesting meals for you as kids? I have a very specific memory of my mom making a four layered quesadilla for dinner one night, a dish I haven't heard of anyone else making ever.

Elliott Sablan

Are there food items that suggest refrigeration that you ignore. For example, we never refrigerate soy sauce despite the labeling telling you to do so. Some peanut butter also tells you to refrigerate it but I’ve never had peanut butter last long enough to go bad.

Brenna Johnston-Kosher

Dear Doughboys, Emma, and the Drop King, I am three months into my first pregnancy and just getting out of six solid weeks of nonstop nausea and inability to eat most anything besides crackers and toast (it has sucked). Not that you can relate to being pregnant (I assume), but what are some foods you'd recommend to ease into normal meals again that aren't totally bland but still safe for a sensitive stomach? Also, if you were ever pregnant, what strange foods do you imagine you would crave? Love, Brenna

Ciro Gaimari

Growing up I always wanted to hang out at The Max from Saved by the Bell. What fictional restaurant/bar would you most like to visit? Krusty Burger? Cheers? Mos Eisley Cantina?

Matt DeMotts

You've been forced into a Hannibal-style self cannibalization scenario. Your captor is a great gourmand, a master chef. What body part do you have removed, and what meal does your captor make out of it?

Miriam

What's your funniest or craziest food blunder? I once managed an Italian restaurant and went back into the kitchen to find one of my servers frantically trying to clean up an entire crock pot of minestrone soup she had spilled all over herself and the floor.

Alex Nichols

There's a pizza place that's a bit of a drive from our house but it's worth it so we order carry out there a lot. To keep the pizzas from going cold on the drive back, I put them on the passenger seat and turn up the seat warmers. I have no idea if this actually works at all, but the pizza does seem to stay warmer. Do you have any carry-out lifehacks?

Joey Parmenter

Is there a food item you’d be shocked by the stats of how many you’ve eaten over your lifetime? Slices of pizza, chicken wings, shrimps, etc.

CFitz

If you could save one restaurant from closing due to COVID, what restaurant would you save?

Michael Yanqui

Have you ever tried to replicate/create a fast food item at home

The Tale of the KetchupSpectre

I’m a huge music fan, and like Mitch one of my favorite bands is Pink Floyd. I have a music question for each of the boys. Mitch: What’s your favorite Pink Floyd song? Mine is Wish You Were Here. Nick: What’s your favorite part of the old dial-up sound? Just kidding, but seriously what’s your favorite song? Emma and Yusong can chime in too. Love the pod, you guys are great at getting me through tough times.

Bailey Riddle

I love hearing food references in songs. Do you have a favorite food mention from a song? For example: Notorious B.I.G.'s "Big Poppa" mentions "a T-bone steak, cheese eggs and Welch's grape."

Doctor Remulak

Hi Dough Fam! What would hurt fast food business more (mcD, BK, Wendy’s,etc) if they had to stop selling burgers (meat and faux meat chicken sandwiches are still in play) or French fries. I think it’s French fries 100%. What do you think?

Sam

Dear Doughyboys,

Andrew Cox

You guys think they gave Terminator a butthole when they made him? I mean, I don't think he poops. Also, when are you guys going to have Bugmane on the pod again?

Kyle O'Connor

What is a great discovery you've made either because of a sale or coupon? Recently got Green's ice cream because of a 2 for 1 deal and it is delightful.

Robert Davidson

If and when we get back to a normal way of eating, what will be your first food move? Straight to Sugarfish? A hot dog and an Icee in a movie theater? A long lazy Fondue dinner with a few of your best friends? Personally, I don't care where I eat as long as it's just me and wife without the kids and there's booze and a Uber involved.

Taylor Munoz

Hi Doughboys! I just recently moved back to LA from a year in Barcelona and the food is just as amazing as everyone says it is. Have you ever had traditional Spanish food or a restaurant’s take on Spanish, besides paella? A lot of people assume it’s similar to Mexican food but it couldn’t be more different. For example, spanish food has absolutely no spice whatsoever and is more bread/meat heavy than anything. Thank you, love the show, spoon nation for life. -Taylor from LA

Ryan Gillespie

Mt. Rushmore of Chain Restaurant sauces.

Michael Goldman

Dear Doughboys, Irma, Wally, Emma, and Yusong, I have discovered a covid quarantine hack. You can order take-out from the children's menu and not have to prove you are less than 12 years old. What children's menu staples (e.g., chicken fingers, hot dogs, junior caesar salads) would you put on your Mount Childs-more?

Gurl Luigi

I forget if this has been asked already, but how does everyone take their caffeine? I do fruity caffeinated 0 calorie seltzers, my boyf does double shot Nespresso over ice w. milk!

Brian Eckert

In a genuine fight, who would win?

Jason Parkis

Have you tried the breakfast at Wendy's yet?

Pat Sanger

It's late and you're drunk. You cannot have any Mexican food. What do you get instead?

Nick

Why are you so afraid of having Bug Mane back on the show?

Nick

Mitch, when are you going to be a guest judge on Nailed It?

Margaret Reading

Now that we can't really dine out anymore, do you remember any bad or embarrassing dining stories? I don't mean when the service or restaurant fumbled but a time when you or members of your party embarrassed yourselves or the staff making the whole experience uncomfortable or funny.

Hot Dawg

could you guys please build your signature sandwich? anything goes

Jason Parkis

Kraft Mac N Cheese, Small Personal Pizza, Tenders and for a Wiger Wild-card....Apple Slices!!

Bryan Koval

Because of COVID, we’ve been eating at home now more than ever. What at-home bites have you all been cooking (or perfecting) during quarantine?

Charlie

On Friday night my girlfriend and I went to a fancy restaurant to celebrate her birthday which was the first dinner date at a restaurant we've had in months. We were seated in a temporary outdoor dining space which was situated right on the ocean (we're in Portland, Maine). And of course, a seagull shit all over me between courses. My glass of wine that I had JUST poured was in the line of fire, so our server asked if I'd like a fresh glass just in case some shit got in there. I said that would be great and I thanked him. He came back with an EMPTY WINE GLASS. So not only was I shit on, I lost a glass of wine and nothing was comped (I still tipped 20% because I'm not a monster). My question is, have you ever been shat on in an outdoor dining situation, and how was it handled by the staff?

QUENTIN HIRSLEY

Hey Gang, what's the school lunch you wish you could have as an adult? There was a rectangle sausage pizza I loved but haven't seen since 5th grade. Been searching ever since. #rectangularpizzamystery.

Tom C

What's something you've tried cooking at home recently ? How did that work out for you?

gunganbaby

Since it’s summer, I was thinking about camping and bonfires and outdoor food staples, specifically s’mores. I realized that since the name “s’mores” is just a contraction of the phrase “some more” and has nothing to do with the food itself, literally any food item that is similarly good and addictive could have been called “s’mores” instead. Of course, all words are basically just a bunch of arbitrary symbols, but this name feels particularly arbitrary to me when I think too deeply and pedantically about it (thanks, English degree!). But anyway, my question is: If you could go back and rename any of your favorite addicting food items “s’mores,” what would it be? Or is there anything else you would rename for any reason? Thanks for all the great quarantine content. It’s all been a much-needed, much-appreciated distraction.

Ricky Gutierrez

You can only use 3 condiments for the rest of your life, which 3 are you keeping and which just miss the cut? I'm talking about everything from the staples (ketchup, mustard, etc.) to chain-specifics (like McDonald's sweet n sour). It's all on the table.

Tim Gray

Hi guys! The other day I heated up some leftover chicken for lunch, resulting in my plate getting hotter than usual. I put a salad along side the chicken on the same plate, resulting in - you guessed it - a HOT SALAD. Honestly it wasn't half bad! Are there any foods that you enjoy prepared differently than the expected way? Hot instead of cold, frozen instead of thawed, etc...

Zach Raffio

Gummy Bears, Ants on a Log, Caramel Turtles - the list of animal-inspired snacks goes on and on, baby! Which animal do you think is prime for some kind of snack adaptation, and if you had to invent a new snack inspired by an animal in this fashion, what would your new snack be?

Michael Walsh

Doughboys - Any thoughts on gas station versions of fast food chains? I'm thinking about the Dunkin Donuts and Subways I always see inside gas stations here in the New England. For some reason, even though gas station food can be good, I feel an aversion to the fast food chains attached to gas stations. Thanks!

Drew

New to the Pod (just started in February) I want to know how Emma got involved? She’s a perfect fit. Was she assigned to you guys when you switched networks? Or was she a fan and interviewed for the job? She’s been great btw.

Ryan L.

Much like Wiger, my wife and I are also Metallica fans and were thrilled when the Doughboys dedicated a double to the band’s ‘Kill ‘Em All’ album. In honor of Metallica being the only discernible music we’re aware of Wiger listening to, we thought it’d be fun for the ‘boys to hold a “Master of Nuggets” tournament ranking chicken nuggets from the top fast food chains. I went ahead and formed a list for you to get started, but feel free to add whatever else you want. You could also do a bonus round ranking the top dipping sauces if you need some more time to kill in the episode. Thanks Doughboys! P.S. Could we please get another installment of Me Talkin’ ‘Tallica To U? Nugget list: Wendy’s Spicy Nuggets Wendy’s Regular Chicken Nuggets McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets Chick-Fil-A Nuggets Popeyes Chicken Nuggets Burger King Classic Nuggets KFC Popcorn Nuggets White Castle Chicken

Mitch Kapa

If you had to a pick single type of beverage to pair with each meal for the rest of your life what you would pick? For example coffee with breakfast, iced tea with lunch, and wine with dinner. If you pick that you are never having OJ with breakfast again.

Nick C.

Is there a snack food you only had once or twice and have been obsessed with ever since? My first job in high school was doing data entry for a local vending/catering company, where there were a lot of food perks. One day we had a bunch of surplus frozen treats, and I grabbed myself an Oreo Cheesecake Sandwich - very much like the Klondike Oreo Ice Cream sandwich, but with a massive slab of regular cheesecake between the Oreo cookies. It was as rich and decadent as you would expect, and I've spent nearly 20 years scouring supermarket and convenience store freezer cases trying to find it again (or even proof that it existed to begin with.)

Thomas Ward

My 15 year old son went vegan right before the pandemic started and I said I'd do with him. He's sticking to it. I'm done. What do I do?

Christopher Brown

What is your favorite fast food tie in video game?

nathan

I like adding raisins to Cheerios. As far as I can tell, this has never been a Cheerios variant. What cereal variant doesn’t exist but should? Have you ever made a variant of a cereal that is better than the original?

Maude Torp

Is there something you eat in an unconventional manner? For example, I like to eat frosted donuts upside down.

Amanda

If you were competing on Iron Chef, what secret ingredient—menu item, signature ingredient, unique sauce, etc—would you want to use to make a complete three course meal? For me, I’d pick In N Out’s grilled onions.

David Theriault

What discontinued food items do you miss the most. It can be snacks or fast food? Mine are lemon coolers (cookies) and McDonalds Onion Nuggets (1970s)

mark h.

Hey guys! What have you been doing to get yourselves through quarantine? FOr example: I called off my dietary restrictions (normally try to stay low-carb) for the first 6 weeks, but I gained so much weight that I had to get back to low-carb eating. Now I do one big cheat day a week, usually some really good takeout and have some beers.

Shane McNichol

Questions (mostly for Mitch): What's the fanciest restaurant that you'd wear a hat to? What's the cheapest restaurant where you would not wear a hat? Where's the line? Somewhere in the Cheesecake Factory, Outback, Hillstone range?

Andy

Why doesn't Taco Bell have fish tacos?

Diabolical Records

In a hellscape where it was the only food choices would you rather eat poop flavored cheesecake or cheesecake flavored poop?

Kate

Loved that you guys had Joey Janela on recently! Do you have a favorite match of his, or favorite match from past or present?

Lj Holle

I always eat my Big Macs upside down

Bellwood Family

If Medieval Times was rebooted in 500 years as Millennial Times what meal would they serve to best represent food now around the turn of the millennium? Assume ass is not an option for hygiene reasons.

Mary Paren

Hey guys! Growing up my dad made a lot of the meals for my brother and I...they were often interesting. I have a very vivid memory of dad saying he was going to make us pizza bread! The pizza bread turned out to be white bread, ketchup, and cheese and he stuck it in under the broiler. I cried when I took a bite and realized it was ketchup. Do you have any memories of overreacting to foods your parents served you as a child? I look back on and this and feel like I was a real piece of shit.

Adam Steinberg

My grandparents love to talk about eating hot dogs and french fries from Nathan's on the boardwalk at Coney Island. I love Nathans (still waiting on that episode....), are there any chain restaurant faves that you share with older folks in your families? #SpoonNathans

Andy Pederson

What food would you rather eat with your butt instead of your mouth?

John Ross Haynes

What’s up guys! I have a couple of food quirks that make it hard peeing takeout. I don’t eat mayo, mustard, sour cream, salad dressing or any sauce made from those things like ranch or Big Mac sauce. I know it sounds crazy but My pallet has developed to like salad plain and my Gordita crunch without sourceeam sauce. I do like hot sauce, ketchup, and bbq sauce. Because of this I’ve found it more difficult during quarantine to receive my order correctly (about 70% of the time my order is right). Have you found it harder to get your orders consistently right since your take out consumption has grown?

ageeogee

If you could invent a mascot for any chain that doesn't have one, which chain would you pick and what would the mascot be?

Matt Scicluna

Hi y'all, there is a lot of talk in the food writing industry right now for the need to expand the kind of cuisine available/ written about. What cultures or types of food would you like to know more and taste more of? Personally would love to know more about food in Africa beyond Ethiopian. Cheers!!

Andy Smith

Hey Guys! In a hypothetical situation (because we know Wiger loves his lovely wife, and Mitch may never have another girlfriend). If you were to marry someone who was the heiress of a famous chain knowing that one day you would also inherit this chain as part of your dowery which chain would you pick? Also Mitch I also went to Ithaca so go Bombers and Yu-song your cool too.

conor woods

Last week, Taco Bell was trending because a franchise fired an employee for wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt. Corporate dragged their feet in responding, but eventually said, “We believe Black Lives Matter. We were disappointed to learn about the incident that took place in Youngstown, OH. We take this very seriously; we have been working closely with our franchisee that operates this location to address the issue." I was relieved to see this, because the prospect of not being able to eat at Taco Bell because of their politics was upsetting to me. Are there franchises you refuse to eat at because of their politics? Where do you go instead?

Lj Holle

I have gone to the same chain a few times since quarantine and every time they burn my burger. This is a newer thing because this is a chain I have gone to many times before but because of the recent burnt food I don't want to eat there anymore. Does this happen to you guys? Does one or two bad experiences make you not want to eat at a certain chain again?

Mike

did mitch come up with the phrase “sucks shit” by himself?

Evan Boulware

How is Mitch doing on his 100 movie challenge this year, and what are some of his favorites so far?

Ryan

If you could eat anything from The Simpsons what would it be?

Sean Roth

Any sandwich with a sharp bread I eat upside down so it doesn't cut up the top of my mouth. (e.g. some sourdough rolls, dutch crunch)

Simon Balto

A quick bite of history (sorry, I'm a history professor): 101 years ago, in January 1919, an enormous storage tank full of molasses burst open in the North End neighborhood of Mitch's beloved Boston. The sticky goo flooded the streets of Boston in waves that reportedly reached up to 35 miles per hour. 21 Bostonians were tragically killed in the disaster, which owed largely of course to corporate negligence by the tank's owning company, U.S. Industrial Alcohol. My question: since you guys both talk often about wanting it all to end soon, if you could die by way of a foodstuff, which one would you want to take you out? A subquestion: if you both had been in Boston in January 1919 and faced a towering wave of molasses, which of you would be more likely to escape it and how?

Doug Justice

What the fuck kind of shit do you put on your ice cream? Sprinkles? Let's imagine a vanilla base... but add at least 3 additional elements of any kind.

Nick B

During one of the last live episodes Mitch wears a mask onstage and audience members laugh and shout that they don't do anything. Obviously they turned out to be wrong and Mitch right. Mitch, what would you say to those audience members, now that you've been vindicated?

DopeYeti

When I started dating my boyfriend, he convinced me to try a local and lifetime favorite of his--Pizzazz Pizza. Sliced tomato, pickled pepper rings and...American cheese on a pizza. Of course, I thought this was gross as shit and had never tried it, but instead I told him with enthusiasm that "I loved pizzazz pizza!" Turns out it's pretty damn good, and I quickly fessed up that it was my first time trying (and enjoying) it. My question for you is--have you ever lied about liking or having tried a food to impress a romantic interest? -Diana from Philly

Schuyler Barrett

Hey boys! Ever thought of a more international tour? Really loved the bit with Libby, would love you to come over to England and taste some more of our awful food. Otherwise Mitch, what are your feelings on Wings Over? Skye

Anon

What was the first meal the doughboys shared?

Eli J

Hey, I'm a big fan of a brick of cheese with stuff in it. Simple stuff like hot peppers, garlic, and herbs, but also horseradish, wine, curry, harissa... what's your fave? What would you put in your Dream Cheese?

Andrew Mulligan

Hey Mitch and Weiger. Fellow Massachusetts native here, so obviously I’m a member of Spoon Nation, but my question is for both of you. My fiancé and I do a lot of meal prep; sometimes this is planned and sometimes recipes just make too much for two people. This isn’t an issue since we both eat leftovers for most of our lunches and sometimes have a leftovers for a dinner once or twice a week. But my question is this: do the Doughboys use the microwave properly? I have a constant battle with my fiancé, coworkers, and sometimes perfect strangers (I wish I were kidding) about heating up food that has already been cooked by simply punching several minutes into the microwave. This is cooking food that has already been cooked! Resulting in things being dried out and, well, worse. There is a reheat button on every microwave out there! And I’m wondering if you guys and your listeners are using it?

Andrew papa

Hey Doughboys:) is there any fake or “fantasy” food you have seen in the movie that you always wanted to try? For me it’s the giant burgers from Mondo burger in the Movie good burger

Casey O'Brien

Hi Doughboys! Without taking allergies into consideration, how do you feel about folks who make substitutions or subtractions to an order that diverges from the original recipe? I know Burger King claims "Special orders don't upset us." But they do upset me! I worked at a fancy restaurant for a long time and it would bother me when people wouldn't eat the food the way that it was intended. If you're eating at a restaurant, and you want the full experience, why not eat the food the way it's supposed to be prepared? One customer of ours would order our $16 turkey sandwich and ask for it plain with no toppings or spread. It just doesn't make sense to me. I'll hang up and listen.

Sam Landon

What fast food chain holds up best for delivery? which is worst?

Matt Rosenthal

Hey Mitch, Wiges, Yusong and Emma!! I grew up in NC which has substantially more Steak and Shakes than my current home of Baltimore. I have found myself craving it occasionally and the closest one to me is 45 mins each way with a tollbooth in between depending on which way I go. I have probably done this an embarrassing number of times, blasting the heat on my drive home to keep my food warm. My question is have any of you gone on a way too long carride or journey to satisfy a fast food craving?

Steven Simpkins

If you could only eat 2 colors for the rest of your life what colors would they be? The whole spectrum of the color is allowed (so light and darker hues count as the same color) No food dye allowed.

Erik Kang

Hey Doughboys, Euan from Manchester here. During quarantine a lot of people have been taking up new hobbies (breadmaking, fitness etc) but a lot of those things require work and effort. What's one skill you would like to be amazing at but never have to work for?

Abhorsen Queen

Hey Doughboys crew! Which video game franchise has created the most delicious/appetizing looking food? Which you like to try?

After three months of unemployment, I finally found a new job - in Chicago! While I am thrilled to move for a wide variety of reasons, the food scene is definitely a particularly exciting one. If you could move to a city based on the food culture alone, what city would it be?

Martystuff

AND what fast food item should be represenative of ALL fast food if it were presented to an alien species upon first contact.

Christopher Finke

Which two restaurant or food-related mascots would make the best couple?

hunter Blakney

Hey guys, It was fun to hear you guys gab about Papa Murphy's finally because I am a District Manager for the brand, and oversee 9 stores. Being take and bake we have lots of uncooked items to sell. With that in mind, if you could suggest me another pre-baked item for us to sell in our stores, what would it be? P.S if you ever review our brand I have some tips!

matt spaulding

I love chicken wings but they are a terrible takeout item. Are there any items you won’t order Togo?

George Gomes

There is a move on to rename Columbus Ohio after Guy Fieri's signature "Flavourtown" catchphrase. If your hometown had to be renamed after something you are known for, what would it be?

What is your favorite candy “crossover”? Examples include Reese’s Puffs cereal and Butterfinger ice cream

Okay: would you still go to your favorite chain restaurant even if they removed your top fave item from the menu? What if they removed your top 3 items? How far down the menu could you go and you would still pull up and chow down? Also, I would like to hear everyone’s top five milkshake picks as I am an avid creamsman and summer is prime milkshake season.

Christopher Hua

It's been established that a pizza place is to be judged on its plain cheese pie but what are your benchmarks for other types of establishments?

MiamiConvection1212

What is your favorite restaurant specific condiment? I love Zax sauce from Zaxby’s so much that I’ll occasionally make a trip there just to buy some for at home. - Jared

Fret “the bitman” Fart

I just bought some Carolina reaper seeds and I thought of a question for Nick, the resident “heat seeker”. What is the hottest thing you have eaten?

Tyler Briggans

I have this weird habit where: whenever I eat a burger or a brown meat, the drink i have has to be clear (Sprite/Sierra Mist, etc...) and if im eating a white meat (Chicken, pork, etc....) the drink has to be brown (Pepsi, coke, dr. Pepper, etc....) do you all have any weird eating quirks like that?

Carlos Torres

Doughboys - if you had to fight each other to the death, and you could choose one fast food menu item as a weapon, what would it be and why?

John

I've been feeding my cat Artie a Chicken McNugget a day during this quarantine and it makes him so happy. So, Mitch, are there any fast-food items that Wally and Irma love? And am I a repugnant person for feeding my cat fast-food?

Maureen Bozduman

What’s the oldest food you’ve eaten? I once found a pack of skittles in a winter jacket pocket that was like 5 years old and ate them. They tasted fine to me.

Danh Nguyen

Could you create a Pokémon evolution line based on fast food chain items?

Lil Seegymane

If you could chose one fast-food item that encompasses your characteristics as a person, what item would that be?

sam ellis

Why does all the food look so awful in every picture? Food doesn't have to look like that. Can you please stop.

Zane

I recently went to a Hardees near me to to try the Double Western Cheeseburger that I've heard Nick rave about so much through the years (it was previously only available at Carl's Jr which doesn't exist near me). Masks are currently required in my state but none of the employees were wearing them. I chose not to eat there after seeing this and reported it to their corporate but never heard back. I'm grossed out and seriously considering not going back but I wonder if I'm overreacting?

Jake from MI

I can't expect this to be answered but I've always wanted to ask Nick, is it a length thing or a flexibility thing? Love the show guys. Stay safe. Spoon nation!

Joe

Both. I have to imagine girth plays into this, too, though I’m not quite sure how. It’s just that girth had to be a major factor in Wiger annihilating that Apple while fucking it, so you can never underestimate girth.

Jeffrey Loh

Will Mitch do more opening restaurant monologues(not research them, obviously)? That was a fun switch up in the Vancouver episode that could be brought back from time to time

WAVE SANA

Moved to the Boston area over 20 years ago and as a cook loved discovering traditional New England foods: Moxie (please do an episode with John Hodgman) Fluff, Parker House rolls. But my favorite is the history of Chinese food in New England any thoughts of doing an episode on that subject? Also I’m saying it again PLEASE do a Moxie episode with John Hodgman

Alexander Piper

If there was a snack equivalent to the Coke Freestyle machine, which snacks would be in it and which would you pair together?

Chase A Probert

There are certain connotations that come with cafeteria food, but the cafeteria at my work has my favorite chicken sandwich. Not Wendy’s, not Popeye’s, the cafeteria at my work. People are incredulous when I share this opinion. Do you guys have any favorites from cafeterias or other places we’d least suspect?

Matt G.

Today for the second time in my life someone said I looked like Adam Richman from Man vs Food. It bummed me out again. Who are the doughboys crew celebrity doppelgängers? Has someone ever told you you look like a celeb?

Brian Glowienke

Hey doughboys, fellow summer camp go-er here. Like Wiger I grew up as a Boy Scout and ascended to the rank of Life (Life for Life as we’re known also Harrison Ford joins those ranks). I also worked at a Boy Scout Summer Camp where we would serve slush puppies at the Trading Post. It was a perfect summer time treat and the counselors would Frankenstein their own creations. Since both of you attended summer camp, what was one of your favorite summer camp treats or eats? Thanks for everything and Robert persinger is a hell of a get.

Jennifer

If you had to bathe in one type of soup what kind of soup would it be?

Diego Bolanos

Hey Doughboys, Have you ever experienced a Mandela effect fast food item that you swear you had but no one else remembers having? I used to think I was the only one who had had McDonald’s Daily Double, no one else I knew had eaten it. Surprisingly it returned to the Chicagoland area recently and I have been vindicated. Love the show thanks for the laughs. -Diego from Chicago

Joe Williamson

Really enjoyed the latest DMB “deep cuts” episode aka Mitch plays Listener Supported. I always loved the band and seeing them live multiple times a year, but fell off for other Jambands but still love the music. I’ve started to get back into DMB because of their weekly live concert streams on Wednesday nights. So question for Mitch - do you like the old band better with Boyd and LeRoi or the new one with Tim Reynolds, Buddy Strong, Rashwan Ross and Jeff Coffin? I surprisingly like the newish band so much more, even though I grew up on old school DMB. Thanks all! See you on the links.

Joe

I had tickets to go to your Minneapolis show that got cancelled because of the COVID hoax. Did you have a restaurant chosen for that show? I was really interested in what Minnesota chain you guys would choose.

Anonymous

Mitch, tell could you tell us more about your that time you were on Analyze Phish at the Hollywood bowl? It seems you got lost and also found some snacks?

Sam Wotherspoon

I just tried a Cheesy Gordita Crunch for the first time in my life (it was good!), are there any fast food staples that took you an irrationally long time to try, even though you had the means to do so?

Reincarnated Incantations

I know it’s tough, but would you ever stop eating at chains that profited off of the prison industrial complex? As far as I know, the main offenders are McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Starbucks. What would be the FMK? But instead it means F for Fiscally restructure the company in a more ethical way, M for Make immediate changes while continuing to make conscious efforts not to perpetuate white capitalist supremacy, and K for Kill. Also, even more heartbreaking is that Nintendo uses prison labor, too. What political stances do you think certain Nintendo characters would take? Feel free to only answer one of the questions. I don’t wanna take up too much time, just providing some options. Thanks, love the show! Spoon Nation for life! Burger Brigade for life! Nang Gang for life! Long Live Yusong’s ghost! Emma is chill and great! Shout out to Wolly & Irma! Shout out to The Knife! Shout out to the commissioner! Shout out to Spoonister Six! Shout out to Dani Fernandez for surviving that haunted house! Shout out to all past and future guests! One Love Jacob from Philly

Brian Wagers

Any chance we can get a double with Leo Karpatze?

Mike Harter

Mitch, since you're about to make a billboard charting hit, maybe you should consider creating a food based band. What do you think would be the best food based band name? Mine would be Umami-Bomb.

Aaron S

Hi Doughboys, I have been with my lovely wife, Caitlin, for over six years. Early on in our relationship I discovered that she is what I call a 'Mix Miner'. Meaning that, in any given snack mix (eg Trail Mix, Chex Mix, Pub Mix) she will 'mine' out her favorite bits leaving behind whatever bits she doesn't like. I'm getting tired of opening the bag of trail mix to be left with a sparse scattering of peanuts among a sea of raisins. Where do you land on the 'Mixer'/'Miner' spectrum? How do you keep the peace across 'Mixer'/'Miner' partisanship?
