First of all, thank you for your continued support of Dmarter Every Day on Patreon. I know of very few people who are using Sunday School quality flannelgraphs to discuss complex Spaceflight physics issues. I thought you would enjoy knowing that this month your support is possibly going to contribute to the untimely demise of “body man”. (It’s his fault actually for surfacing from a dive too quickly with a build up of Nitrogen in his blood.)

In all seriousness I thought you’d enjoy seeing a little behind-the-scenes for the next video. This is very tedious, but extremely fun to think about. I believe it’s possible that this video could contribute to decisions NASA may have to make in the near future. I’m excited to be able to make it. Thank you very much for your support as a Patron!!

Amazed at how much work you put into these videos!

Brent Boardman

I remember the flannel-graph in Sunday school!

Gregg Simms

The most important question is did you put your toys away in time to get to the important work of getting dinner on the table? 😜 Can't wait to see the video!

JC Wren

Body Man immediately reminded me of the MCU character Vision.

Disco

CCDs can see into either the near-infrared or near-UV, or both. Point a TV remote at your camera, push buttons, and watch through the camera.

Smarter Every Day meets Arts and Crafts time! Sweet!

Andrew Bowns

My wife’s response, “did he just say it took him forever to cut a circle out of felt…” 😅 I get you Destin.

Ralph Lacy

No kidding - I had to look up what a flannelgraph was. Never heard of this before.

Dan

"I'm not working a full-time engineering job right now..." (so that I can make felt cutouts)" 😂 Love it!

Steve Jones

These behind the scenes videos are awesome.. it's like we're coming over after dinner to help you make videos.. You should make more of them! (and invite us over to help make videos - I'll bring the beer and pizza).. Now.. what's a flannelgraph? Off to google!

XiYen

I'm assuming the "Dmarter" in the first sentence of the post description is a new portmanteau of "Destin's Smarter"? Clever rebranding. :b

Jason

Thanks for the sneak peek. I love the quote above your door!

The Morton Fam

Sunday School flashbacks 😂 Love the sneak peek and love what you are doing, Destin! Keep up the good work!

Pete Hall in Wi

Cool! Thanks for the peek behind the curtain, Destin. Can't wait to see the finished project.

swissfreek

Did anyone else get their stickers this year? Or are they still on the way?

Harold McKinstry

I have been watching you for a long time. You have a way of making any subject no matter how boring it sounds interesting. Always look forward to a new video

Jeff Steiner

I had to go back and look, but, yep, you're right! I'm hoping the rebranding is "Destin's Smarter" and not what rolled off my tongue a little more readily: "Du[mb]-marter"!!! :-)

Adam Rosenfield

Never heard of a flannelgraph before, I kept waiting for you to explain what that was. I mean, I figured it out eventually (and googled it to confirm), but still.

Daniel Turner

Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labour.

Jesse Clynikal

Gravity, buoyancy, pressure… what’s next relative density? This video will be challenging.

Jed M Garner

Destin, you and yours are the only ones we support on Patreon. It's not much, but it is my vote for what I value. You put in the hard work to make high quality content and have a character and a value system that I would like to see more of in this world. I am so grateful that there are good people doing good things in the world. Thanks for being you!

Nashguy207

Destin thank you for all you do. You are a great and intelligent man!

John Nixon

Oh man, phones put out tons of IR all the time. They look like strobe lights under night vision.

Carl Wandering

It’s rewarding to see what a small contribution makes. Destin is an outstanding presenter, and provides great content. Knowing we are helping him have the freedom to explore his interests, and not sitting in a cubical doing what an employer needs and being miserable makes me happy as well. Looking back at my life in aerospace, I had only a few hours on the weekend to do what I wanted. The majority of the time was spent serving my company and customers.

Bartosz Błaszkiewicz

I don't want to sound ungrateful, but since you appear to care about 2hat I'm interested in: here it goes. I don't care about hearing "thank you" but I would be very much interested in how flannelgraph works How your doohickey for making circles work. How everything works... how you work.

Mike Kelly

Your speech to NASA was so impactful to me that it made me was to be a Patreon. Thank you for being the voice of the people to them

Joey Steel

I enjoy how you make science accessible to all. I'm a child of the 1960s and was particularly inspired by "The Twentieth Century," a CBS program hosted by Walter Cronkite to want to make a career in science, eventually specializing in chemical engineering. May I suggest that you make a short video to explain the physics of flannelgraphs? I was fascinated by them when I was young … and am still young at heart.

Tim Federwitz

Can't wait to see it!! Thanks for sharing the sneak-peek. I *assume* it is taking a long time because you are creating a stop-motion animation with it, which is killer! I'm sure you *could* do it via computer graphics... but old skhool flannelgraph is awesome!

Edward Burton

Is the Coast Guard deep dive complete?

Cooper Griggs

Did you mean for your video's TRT to be Pi? 3:14 :)

Matt Batchelder

Thanks for the behind the scenes sneak peek. Also, was I the only one that spotted the canary cardboard knife hanging from a prominent position in kitchen 😆

Jim Brown

As someone who makes music I appreciate how long it can take to create just a few minutes (or seconds) of finished work. Some songs go from idea to done in a couple of hours, other productions take hundreds of hours.

Taylor Cole

Had no idea "Flannelgraph" was even a word. Got smarter everyday at 2:15am haha
