Thanks for checking out this image.  Any ideas on what that line is!?

funniest comment from youtube: "That shadow of the Earth. Flat Earth confirmed 100%" haha on a more serious note: beats me, I've got nothing. but then again, I am a biologist, not a physicist...

A stay cable holding the rocket in place against wind shear?

Scilabus

Is there some kind of mirror at the very top that would react with the light in the same fashion as a lighthouse? Or, since the light is on at the top, is it possible to have some destructive light interference? ( i know about sound interference so I guess that the same would be applicable to light) Or maybe a polarity thing... Ok I'll stop there, I'm just rambling. #notmyfieldofexpertiseasyoucansee

That's no moon! :o (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Thomas Slawson

Could it have anything to do with wind blowing over the top of the LES and vortex shedding, creating something like wingtip vortices on a plane fanning out on both sides? Perhaps not visible to the naked eye, but under the right conditions with the moonlight in the background they blocked enough light to become visible on camera.

Mario Nigrovic

Is the Saturn V really tipped that much from the vertical, or it is vertical and the camera wasn't level?

Robert Keiser

It's the fishing line the model of the Saturn V is hanging from. HELLO!?

Chris Hartmann

Could it be an atmospheric thermocline? You’re saying how cold it is maybe you are seeing the barrier between the cold air and a warmer layer of air. When it is extreme you can see some crazy mirages. This would explain the line and how it could be at an angle. The rocket tip would just be a coincidence if this is correct.

Mac

It appears that is a static display (note the white light on top and the red/green lights on the main booster), so there is probably at least one gantry nearby and perhaps a second one also. That could be a stabilizing cable for high winds, or it could provide power for the lights as well as data monitoring from the missile itself. It may not be ready to launch, but it would still have some items of concern that they would like to keep track of. Or, if nothing else, that line is the seam of the opening in the bottom of the moon where alien craft enter and exit their secret base contained within!

Adric Menning

he did say he checked and there are no cables or wires since you can drive up pretty close, im pretty sure its either an atmospheric, or mirage like issue, going back there and checking at other moonsets would be interesting but really hard to do what with the progression and cycles and other issues.

Jayden Newstead

OK after looking more closely it cannot be a cable/line of any sort, since the silhouette doesn't extend onto the sky. It is also doesn't appear to be associated with the red light on the rocket since the silhouette is in photos where the red light is both on and off.

Jayden Newstead

The Moon makes first contact with the rocket in IMG_9723 and the silhouette is not visible. Then 7.11 seconds later you can see it in IMG_9724. It then fades from the right side. For this reason I'm going to guess it is a distant contrail.
