As a signer of the blood oath, This will never leave my phone at the worst, like ill show someone on my phone but not share it to theirs. This is glorious, and I would be completely satisfied if this is what my patreon bill went to in the future... If you were ever inclined to do something like this again, I would advise watching Linzey Rae's scream like a girl series. I was just a drummer but I get metal screaming and shes got a Real good explanation of it.

I'd like to know too. My guess it is for automatic or easy recognition and separation of the different cuts/takes.

Thats a good point. You could probably identify where the claps are in the audio track alone. I was also thinking that maybe when you're yelling into a microphone, something changes (either physically in hardware or digitally in the software), because you are creating higher lows and higher highs when you yell like that, which is not a normal use case. So maybe to reset that, you have to clap? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of automation in audio recording, kinda like how cameras are assisted by software (autofocus, etc.)

Claps are for syncing up the video and audio in post. It's the same as a clap board in the movies. Both provide a definite moment of input (sharp sound wave form in the audio file and visual cue in the video) when they happen so you can match the two different files exactly.

Oh I see, that's pretty cool. I always thought those clapperboards were just used as a tradition of filmmaking, not due to functional reasons. But if I think about, it also works great for labeling scenes and takes which should help when you are paused at a certain part of the video in post. Without it, you would need to play the video to hear which part you're in, but with the clapper board it just tells you which scene it is. Seems kind of obvious now.

I love behind the scenes stuff like this. Literally any video production always has tons on the cutting room floor and it's always interesting / revealing / hilarious, and stuff like this is a wonderful combination of all three. Remember, any time you've ever played a fighting videogame and enjoyed the voiceover, somebody did this for *days* ;) (Actually, on that note - good job! You have a shockingly small number of 'bad' takes, and getting it all done that quickly was impressive.)

Clapping is used to sync multiple microphones and cameras when editing later, as it gives a very "sharp" point to sync audio to.

I'd say in this case it's more to easily identify between each section. The 3 claps will clip the microphone which will show on the audio clip so the editor can cut the clip.
