The Blood Angel Incaendius Dreadnought full tutorial!

This video has a dual purpose - to show how to paint a contemptor dreadnought, but also experiment with a Dark Angel scheme for an upcoming Legion Masterclass. This video will teach you how to:

* Create a nuanced black. This isn't the high contrast black of Drahzar, this is a battle-worn ruined black.

* Use Oil paints to modulate colours.

* Use weathering materials to create dynamism in your paint job.

Blood Angel Black Dreadnought Tutorial

Hi Myles - recently watched the tutorial on oils and you said there you’d moved more away from gloss varnishing before the oil step to keep contrast. Can you explain why in this tutorial you decided to keep the varnish step in pre-oil? Thanks in advance!

Hiya Paul! I'm always re-assessing my techniques. Commission work allows me the opportunity to do so in interesting ways. However, I would agree with my earlier assessment - I'm moving away from the gloss varnish stage because too much contrast is lost. I hope this answers your question. And please, anything else that's on your mind send it along!

Thanks Myles - I've tried with both following your tutorials and I'm finding the same - unless you want the gloss effect specifically then the benefit seems outweighed by the loss when you flatten out. Thank you!

Hi Myles, did you already release the PDF tutorial for the Dreadnought? I just can't find it :-/ Keep the awesome stuff coming, loving your in depth videos!

McLovin

That's alright. I just planned to start a black armoured dreadnought these days and I wanted to do it your way. And in the first mins of the video you said you would release one at the end of the month ^^ I'll post it when I'm finished on FB and tag you :)

Hi, You mentioned that you were going to put up a PDF of the highlight techniques, I feel like my pre shading is lacking so I'm definitely looking forward to it but I'm not seeing it on here, did I miss it?
