Continuing on the forthcoming folk horror/witchfinder theme, I'm going to start putting together some sub-classes for this setting/guide whilst I wait for Rick and the Lazaros to come up with some monster/adventure art.

What ideas for sub-classes (or even classes) do you all have? Tell me in the comments. Coolest ideas get made.

Thanks!

Definitely a witchfinder rogue that tools and gadgets that help hunt witches and caterers would be super cool. Hag warlock Hex magic sorcerer would be super cool

Dan krhla

crave cleric with some witcher-like skills?

John Clanton

Some sort of Fey paladin. Make him oath of fey or oath of witchfey or something. I'm curious to see the Everquest Shadowknight in 5e. It's a warrior plus necro. Lifetap, Debuff, summon a skeleton pet, etc. But not sure that fits in with fey.

Sean P Havern

Perhaps an oath of the winter court/dark Fey. I think the Oath of the Ancients can be played as a Fey influenced oath, but something darker may work. As far as a new class goes, perhaps a lycanthrope and vampire classes. This has been done by several creators to various degrees but maybe these classes flesh out these conditions more. Subclasses could explore different lycanthropes and different vampires in folk lore.

Jake Klopfenstein

Cultist/cult leader Pagan worshipper Mystic Ghost hunter or more generically supernatural hunter like the TV show Soothsayer

Dr. Feargoods

Blood Sorcerer: One that uses blood from attacking to healing and even creating. Transformer/Shifter/Polymorpher: Changes into another living Organism. Weather Witch: One that can control weather and even change into a type of weather.

Frank Moore

Hmmm. My ideas would be: Barbarian: Path of the Witchborn -- children of the tribe's witch doctor Bard: College of Whimsy -- not the most serious Monk: Way of the Spirit Realm Paladin: Oath of the Faerie Court (with options for spring, summer, fall, and winter)

Yeeha532

Warlock - fey Patron - almost Druidic in feel

Ernst Radlspäck

Barbarian - Path of the Wicked -- Brutal Fighter with some minor magic abilities

Brbmonkeytime

barbarian - something inspired by burt/his son from tremors movie series lol

Ernst Radlspäck

Bard: College of the Mysterium - maybe some source of Soulpower injected? Druid: Circle of the venom leaf - Thorns and poison Warlock; Wispmother Patron - Maybe some Misty Step, Colddamage Focus Fighter: Black Rose Warden - Damage Aura, maybe some vines who can pull foes to him

LeMoustache

Fighter - the Spartan. Battlecries and commanding abilities

Ernst Radlspäck

As class the Witchfinder is a obvious choice :) Maybe with 3 subclasses specialized for fiends, undead and devilkin. Thinking of a hunter for the supernatural, like Indiana Jones mixed up with Van Helsing. Agile with a focus on support magic and ranged combat. Or maybe just making a Ranger Subclass out of this.

Christopher Wagner

Warlock Witch hunter stylized with the gunslinger new sub-class. Guns use hex magic for improved shots/trick shots. Guns use eldritch magic, not gun powder and bullets. Patron is an old gunsling such as the old Ghost Rider

Sean Walsh

Bardic College of the Crossroads, a dark warlock-esque bard subclass

Morax

Bloodhunter Order of the Cryptid

Vincent Aernout

A path of the wildcurse barbarian, that turns into various beastly forms while raging.

Vincent Aernout

An oath of the torch paladin, who leads his companions against the darkness and evils of the dark woods.

Tiago Tex Pine

Witch Doctor, as vodoo, santeria and West African myths are also Folk and completely absent from 5e

Holy Pickle

Not sure how much you want to take from real dark history, but a paladin meant to route out witches, but not a good oath as they were awful: Oath of the Inquisition.

Holy Pickle

Fighter: Witchbound. Martial expert infused with damage or defence abilities from a witch that has bound them

Holy Pickle

Druid: Circle of the Wyldefey - druids that have positioned themselves between the benevolence of the fey and malevolence of dark fey. Primal nature magic.

Holy Pickle

Barbarian: Path of Witchfire: almost a shaman type subclass, fire themed, but using green witchfire. Rage allows the sole control and manipulation of witchfire

Holy Pickle

Wizard: Codex Arcanum: wizards who are researching ways to codify witch magic

Holy Pickle

Bard, thought one who is trained in ancient chants that hold power (Chantweaver) or one that is formed out of a dark choir (Resonance), why their abilities are mostly mean to enhance others.

Troy A Jackson

Rogue/Ranger - Feystalker. Charged by Fey nobles to hunt down and deal with escaped fey creatures that have caused mischief and allied with forces against the Fey world.
