Its nice to see Daenerys being significantly less of a bumbling buffoon than she was for most of the show. Though she is seemingly speedrunning the Targaryen madness.

Munsu

Daenerys playing "free the slaves" on Quick run. The Red Witch is such a cheat code ! I call Hack !

....dear god it's like the trip to King's Landing all over again. But this time with extra scales.

"Melisandre and Daenerys keep talking about Axel." Axel: "He sneezes while in bed with his Queens." Well, someone's talking bad about me...🤨 Melisandre, you don't need any more sacrifices, you need the strength of Superman or Galactus lol. Honestly? At first, I would have liked to see Dany in Axel's harem, but now? Has she been persuaded to sacrifice children? Nah man. She can die under Axel's fists for all I care 😅. (If Daenerys wants to live, she really has to earn it, but for now, it seems like Targ madness is winning 🤷🏻‍♂️)

Love the story, and eagerly read each chapter as soon as they come out. Can’t wait for more. That said, this arc feels a little off compared to the previous ones. I think it’s me feeling that Axel and his surrounding small council are acting dumber than what we’ve seen of them so far. Yes, Axel is confident he can defeat the dragons based on what he did to the kraken. But I find it surprising that no one around him is saying, “Hey, I know it’s probably not a big deal because you’re you, but they’re still dragons - the creatures that literally helped unite Westeros after thousands of years of infighting. Let’s try and get some more information about them before we call it a job well done.” If this storyline was a matter of showing his hubris for the first time, that would make sense. But we already had that with the Valyrian steel sword and the wildfire to a lesser degree. At this point in the story, it just feels like Axel should be at least 15% more cautious about Dany and company.

Volodya

Melisandre: “Ok Danny, now roll over. Good girl! Who’s a good girl! You are! Yes you are!”

Corn The Man

We must save westeros from that demon tyrant, at any cost Meanwhile in westeros: what a time to be alive, the king is blessed, the land prospers, and there is peace. Truly King Axel was chosen by the gods...... Is that ships on the horizon...... Oh seven the sister f***ers are back.

Magnus

The "Breaker of Chains", in truth nothing but a slave herself. Dancing to her master Melisandre's tune without any thought of resistance. I look forward to seeing all her misconceptions shattered.

Kasikan

Melisandre will always be an evil old bitch. No matter what form she takes. Though in this case she's not wrong. Letting them live is what turned into an absolute disaster on the show. Better to purge the slavers and their families clean while taking everything they own.

Chainsword83

"kills two birds with one stones". Stone should be singular, not plural; "kills two birds with one stone". Okay, first off, good for Dany and Missandei. Even if it's not an equal relationship, it's still cute. Second off, GADDAMN BUT I HATE MELISANDRE!!! Well done Cam, I don't think I've ever seen the Red Woman as being purely evil as she is in your work here. I genuinely fear for how much of Dany will be left by the time everything is settled. She may be Unburnt in body, but Melisandre is slowly burning away pieces of her soul and convincing her to commit atrocities. Third, okay NOW we NEED to have Oberyn going "Nephew-in-law, shit's fucked". He's got the mercenary contacts and such in Essos. SURELY he'll hear about this, albeit on a significant delay. I guess it comes down to which threat Axel hears about first, the Ice Zombies or the Fire Woman. Knowing his luck, he'll probably hear about them at the same time.

Chainsword83

When she realizes the depths she's gone to to save the world, when in reality SHE and her trusted mentor were one of the real threats... God Dany is gonna be so destroyed.

Chainsword83

The People of Westeros: "Who can possibly imagine the insanity the Targs are cooking up?! Who could be so stupid and mad to fathom the vile depths of their minds?!" Cersei: "Finally, my time has come."

Chainsword83

It's honestly sad how much the devil on Dany's shoulder in the form of Melisandre has managed to take over. Mostly by making the shoulder angel meek and undemanding. Damn the Red Woman is such a piece of sh**.

Chainsword83

That's the thing, Axel doesn't know Varys gave the order to try and assassinate Dany, so he doesn't think she had personal motivation to come for him personally. He's also under the STUPIDLY MISTAKEN ASSUMPTION (damn lovable himbo...) that the Red God and his followers are cool with him, and so doesn't think Melisandre is building up Axel as the literal Antichrist in Dany's mind and priming her for a crusade. Stannis has mentioned needing a Master of Whispers, but neither of them can think of anyone they'd want for the job. Which is why Oberyn BETTER get his ass in gear and audition FAST.

Chainsword83

I know we have Cam's WoG that Dany will be joining the harem. But I must admit to having fears about how much of Dany will be left before she realizes the truth. Right now she's been convinced that these sacrifices are NECESSARY. As much as she probably grew up hating Jon Arryn, she has his same major flaw; blind, unwavering trust in someone using them for their own purposes. Already she fears she's becoming a monster, and under Melisandre's "guidance" she is. When she realizes every choice, every sacrifice, every bit of innocence she gave up was all for Melisandre's deluded lie.... Honestly if there's anything LEFT of Dany by that point, I think she'll have to be put on suicide watch.

Chainsword83

Yeah the Red Woman is an OP cheat code, but using her will corrupt your save file and destroy your game, locking you into only "bad endings".

Corn The Man

I want to see the contrast between Danny's perspective and reality. Like, she's expecting to show up in westeros and be treated like the savior she was in the free cities (where freeing slaves gives mountains of good will). But in westeros she's the opposite, the embodiment of the mad king, bring a hoard of barbarians to slaughter all who oppose her. The people don't want her, and without a high noble very obvious trying to get in her pants to help her, she's not gonna get the reception she images

Chainsword83

I have hope that Missandei is keeping the tiny core of who Dany is alive even as Melisandre slowly twists her in both body and soul. Sadly Melisandre is to Dany what Baelish was to Jon Arryn; a bad actor using their benefactor for their own selfish ends.

Chainsword83

I mean yeah, she's not wrong, IF you want to completely surrender any and all moral high ground. Yes, this is a terribly effective method to ensure the noble class doesn't rise again. But we KNOW that's not Melisandre's main goal here, she's jonesing for them blood sacrifices.

Ofunu

It's sad that neither Stannis nor Axel have any idea about subterfuge at all and they minimize the importance of a master of whispers. Stannis strikes me as someone who would sneer at the mere idea of a master of whispers in the first place. Tyrion on the other hand, who would point out the importance of a reliable information network is far too focused on being a good master of coin to mention it at all. Honestly I would have thought that Axels lovers would have said something by now. Margery and Arianne specially, Sansa maybe not so much.

Chainsword83

To be clear, I don't think Dany is beyond redemption. Unless the story gets away from Cam, we have his WoG that she will be joining the harem. But if any of her decency is left by the time she realizes what she's become, she'll be haunted by it for the rest of her life.

redhawktiger

So I was never the biggest fan of Daenerys, for multiple reasons, and the way the show depicted her when she began her conquest of Westeros was.....not good to put it politely. That said, I can acknowledge that she likely has more redeeming qualities in the books, and in fanfiction it really depends on how she's written.....as you're writing her here, I really don't want her to end up with Axel. Cersei honestly is sounding better then Dany, and Cersei's a character that, even in cannon, is made so that we love to hate her. Not sure how you can redeem her character to make her an appealing partner, even for a one night stand. I still enjoy the story, but I really don't know where this is going in regards to Daenerys.

Chainsword83

Fair points, but I counter with: "Let him cook."

Para

So they've eliminated any potential for diplomacy and fostered a reputation as bloodthirsty witches/monsters.... Good going girls 🙄 Feel that they've really lost sight of things. Even if they were to beat Axel and reclaim the Iron Throne no one would celebrate it and she would HAVE to rule through fear since Dany is going to be viewed less than ideally. Its S8 all over again but earlier and with Dany taking a more direct hand... Claw in things than riding about on dragonback. I don't really see any way for Axel to settle things with the girl. There's only so much feeling bad for someone will do to make you look past bad behaviour and she's turning into a top tier douche. Manipulation or not.

Corn The Man

Also I just realized this, but without Bariston to tell Danny some hard truths, she's still under the mistaken belief that her family was loved and that every bad thing about them was made up as propaganda by Robert.

Eric Lachance

To be fair, Daenerys is being expertly manipulated and molded into this. Still, she's definitely no saint and still bears responsibility. Melisandre got to her at a point where she was basically clay to be played with. Girl almost got spawn camped.

Alun Lewis

By the Seven....is Melissandre related to Sheev Palpatine, by chance?! Because the Red Witch is doing her best impression of the Emperor from Star Wars...and it's a scarily close impression, especially in the parallels of how Melissandre is corrupting Daenerys to be her ultimate tool to how Palpatine did the same to Anakin and led to the creation of Darth Vader. The big differences are Missandei is far less capable (currently?) of standing up to Melissandre and holding back Dany's dark impulses than Padmé was in opposing Palpatine and keeping Anakin held in the light, and Melissandre doesn't have the capability to make her lies into even partial truths via engineering things in Westeros to be worse off than they are.

Ofunu

I had not thought about that. And with Melissandre whispering in her ear she is even more deluded about that. She believes she is going to be received with open arms as the savior that will free Westeros from the oppressive demon.

oscar enrique sampedro lopez

Thanks for the chapter. I think Daenerys is going to lose easily to Axel, making her realize all the sacrificing and burning was for nothing, and that will break her from the BS Melissandre is feeding her

Chainsword83

I trust in Cam's abilities to pull off something satisfying. Have faith, and let him cook. :)

Para

Cam's got everything in hand not doubting that. Just don't particularly mind if Dany in this takes a long step off a cliff haha

Potato

Right so id say this is the part where danny shouldnt be considered for the harem, im almost 100% sure axel would not consider even letting her live considering she's fine with killing and sacrificing children

Chainsword83

I wouldn't say she's "fine" with it. Just absolutely desperate and convinced this is necessary. Even then, she worries about what those close to her think of her, even when her puppetmaster (Melisandre) who is perhaps the closest person to her is encouraging her. I don't think that this speaks to Dany's lack of moral character so much as what a master manipulator Melisandre is proving to be. She's fully convinced Dany that Westeros is suffering even worse than the slaves of Essos are, and that Dany is the ONLY one who can save her homeland and the rest of the world. I think Dany, although twisted around by Melisandre, is still at her core a good person; and we know what they say about a good man going to war. It's what she does once the truth is revealed to her and the Red Woman is no longer dripping her poison into her ears that we'll see if there's anything worthwhile of Dany left. As for Axel, we know he doesn't like hurting women if he can help it, as proven by the Trial of Seven where he fought Brienne. Maybe he will decide she's a monster who needs to die, but in that case I could see Missandei throwing herself between them to save Dany and her pleas letting Axel spare Dany's life.

Potato

But at the end of the day she could have ultimately said no to the children... its her choice she doesn't a have knife at her throat, i dont see at all why she should be spared, ik she's going to be sadly 😔 only because axel will think she's hot
