Good for Stannis. Thats some real growth on his part.

Munsu

The talk with Stannis truly was the highlight of this chapter. Sad to see him so.. tired. I hope Axel will find a good choice to replace his uncle and let him go where he feels he really belongs.

It would be really poetic if the story ended with Axel heading to Winterfell to ask Ned to take over for Stannis as his Hand. Unfortunately, the one job that Davos can't inherit from Stannis is that of a Hand because of his missing finger. *badum tss*

Lord Sesshomaru

Axel "stealing" his own Valyrian steel is like when you used to "steal" cookies your grandmother was baking as a kid 😂 Stannis ❤️, the man who drinks lemon water and sometimes with a pinch of salt💪🏻. I agree with him, let him go back to Storm's End, he's done enough, it's time for him to rest 😌. Are we getting to the "Maester's Conspiracy" saga? 😏. I can already picture Axel on top of a burning Citadel... (A bit like the alternate Mark 😬)

I bet Jon will become the next Hand, after the threat of the Others is solved

Sith2go

Better a sorceress with verified blood sacrifices, than one with unverified blood sacrifices.

Flaykeo

Feel like the whole sacrificing children is kinda being swept under the rug

redhawktiger

I hope Axel gifts Stannis with his own Valyrian Steel blade for his family and storms end. Great chapter

Kasikan

Better for him to hook up with Ygritte and stay in the North.

Shadowfox

Clearly the only man for the job... is Hodor, If anyone can hold it down it's him.

Sean

"And so, for all these reasons... Please welcome my new hand, Sandor Clegane!" "Fuck"

If Tyrion proves to be as stable as he is shown to be so far, I'd be in favor of him becoming the next Hand in a couple years. He has done a lot already to improve the city and the kingdom.

Oh, it is...Dany's actions in Mereen, Yunkai and Astapor re: sacrificing the children of the slave owners, on top of their parents, is definitely being written off as "garbage being disposed of" and not a reminder that she ended numerous noble bloodlines for a mission objective she didn't even actually achieve. I honestly think - and hope - that we'll be seeing Dany be the one most openly disgusted at what she did while under Melissandre's influence and struggle for a while with feeling like she needs to be a non-violent tool for the Crown until her dying day to get even a part of the way toward redeeming herself.

Oh wow...Stannis is REALLY struggling with the strain of trying to be the most moral and upstanding man in Westeros, isn't he? I'm honestly of two minds about him leaving the position of the Hand of the King...he definitely loves his nephew but if he can't fully accept the collective insanity that surrounds Axel or that Axel involves himself in, then getting someone who can better be on Axel's wavelength to take over is the right course of action. But the other part of me is all "No...Stannis...Axel needs someone who won't be a yes-man and can be trusted to offer a respectful opposition to crazy ideas so their flaws can be IDed and fixed".
