I think it's cool that you made the Seven both real and not evil(at least so far) in this fic. You rarely see that in a GOT fic.

SylverIron

Val: "Well Snow, good news: he woke up...briefly. Also called me beautiful and wanted me as his woman, does he do that often? (Cut to Jon, already facepalming) "Yes...yes he does. He'll live."

Wasirdar

*Daenerys walks in and sees Val astride Axel's lap* "Oh no, do not let me interrupt." *3way ensues*

pavbpabv

What does it mean that he's their champion? Is it like Dany (they can destroy her soul whenever they want)? I don't think it's worth it in that case.

Zarek21

Dany is gonna get to have an 'I told you so' Moment hen when arrives.

Lord Sesshomaru

I liked that you gave some sort of "lore" about how the Seven came to be and all that. They seem like "benevolent" deities, but who knows for how long, lol. Interesting that the "Great Other" is a being from space, it reminded me of Jenova. 🤔 But can we talk about the fact that Axel FINALLY wonders about his Mother? 🤩 If Axel has a thousand questions now, when he sees his mother, he'll have a million questions 😂 (If Mom has the patience to answer all his questions, that is.)

JRC

I've got to admit, I loved the lore. Also, I definitely saw the assist from Daenerys coming. At least Axel has a little warning, he probably ought to start preparing for his ass chewing(s) right now!

Munsu

With Val, we see Axel still has his priorities straight. That's good ! And the lore was very nice. Though the Great Other being an alien was a fun idea. E.T has overstayed his welcome.

Sith2go

Kinda sad the gods are all actually real and active. I prefered the idea that all the 'champions' were just gaslighting themselves.

Y. B. A.

The Great Other being from space explains how he pinpointed Axel's main weakness. Previously, I figured it was because of divination, but it felt annoyingly ass-pully. Fortunately, this chapter's reveal makes it way better.

JoeMcCool

*Dany crash-lands on Drogon in the Wildling camp* "WHERE IS MY DUMBASS WOUNDED BOYFRIEND!?! I GOT A VISION FROM THE SEVEN THAT HE NEEDS MY HEALING!" *Sees Val next to Axel* "And another girlfriend to boot! Move over, you can ride that pony after the healing and him paying for it, it's been over a week for me!"

Cambrian

this is hilariously close in some ways to what happens next chapter, but also hilariously far in others :P

William

Then where would the powers have been coming from? The only gods we didnt already basically know were real were the seven and the great other, we new most other major pantheons were real enough since their followers had powers or were very much alluded to being real by people with big mysterious magic knowledge like Euron.

JRWins

Interesting premise of Westeros being a wasteland of the divine where gods struggle to survive. Makes you wonder what would happen if the wall came down, would the divine power slowly come back? And if so would the remnants of the Old gods grow in enough power to actually revive them?

William

I know he'll probably be yelled at anyway, but i hope there isnt going to be some random argument about how stupid he was for going in alone or something, by everything he or anyone else knew at the time, he was making the correct decision, and even now, it is still the correct decision since we probably wouldnt have learned any of this big major threat stuff without that decision. He's superman all alone out here, and he doesnt have a justice league to rely on, there is no one that can ACTUALLY punch at his weight class, relying on others for that first confrontation would have been entirely pointless, even if he brought daenerys, she wouldnt have survived the encounter if they hadn't gone in knowing about the spears, and no one he could have brought would have managed to get there as quickly as he did, and they definitely wouldnt have escaped, so the end result would just have been the same but with more deaths than just Axel being injured, and he might have been more than injured if he had had others with him that he would have been trying to protect.

William

She's probably more likely to come back expecting to join the planet into the empire.

William

What did she tell him?

William

That's unlikely since he didnt get his power from them, and I dont think it was the soul that was being destroyed, I think R'hllor was using her soul to detonate the power stored in her body, but while the seven may recognize Axel as their champ, they ultimately have very little to do with his power, so they dont actually have anything about him to control, but they may actually still be able to explode daenerys if they kept some kind of link to her.

Sith2go

Melisandre already used magic that wasnt from her god. The shadow Stannis that kills Renly in the show was magic that was completely separate from her god. Hell in the books its heavily hinted that Eruon knows how to summon a great kraken himself, using a sacrificed dragon egg he stole from Valyria. Its all magic that doesnt need the gods to work. Dany probably wasnt even dying when after she lost to Axel, it was just a dramatic panic attack.

Zarek21

That she should be there with at least 1 of her Dragons. In response Axel decided to take her to the edge before leaving to prepare

Wafflenator

This one made me laugh "sucking them drive of all remaining lifeforce"

Michael Friede

I actually like the Gods being active. Canon and many fics have them be nebulous, but I actually like fics where the gods of Planetos actually DO something. Sure they have rules and restrictions and i like that too, but i like the extra worldbuilding as well

redhawktiger

Well...now e know about the Seven lol

William

I see your point, but if Melisandre knows and uses magic that is unrelated to the red god, which she does, i forgot about the shadow thing but it was totally just shadow/blood magic, no red god connection at all, why would she or other red priests think that SOME of the magic they use is connected to a god? Like remembering things Melisandre has said, at least in the show, about some of her tricks and spells, she definitely knows and understands that she uses some not red magic, but she still believes that some magic like the fire visions and stuff are definitely red god related, MAYBE its just because for that magic she was taught that its source is a god, but it feels more likely that she and other red priests would be able to tell if there was no difference between the magics. Also for the record, in my other comment I was talking about what we know about gods in canon, like in canon, ive always felt that whie maybe none of the gods are DEFINITELY confirmed to exist, some of them are WAAAAYYY more heavily implied to be real, for example, I dont remember if its something from canon, but Ive read something about the old gods just being nature spirit type things that were worshipped in a more general sense rather than the more uniform religious group style of Christianity or the seven, and those nature spirits were totally real and alive and around at some point because they weren't necessarily GODS just magicish forces of nature that interacted with the more "primitive" peoples in westeros before magic started fading from the world.

William

But we literally saw in the show what happens if Dany is around WEAKER white walkers, they get a dragon. So this isnt an "I told you so" moment for Dany, this is a "Im so glad none of my dragon children were shot out of the sky in this timeline." Sure the dragons are all buffed up, but they're also HUGE and more importantly, not even slightly a little bit almost close to Axel's durability, so he definitely should NOT have taken her with him, he made it out because he basically did a quick blitz attack and when it went bad he split faster than the speed of sound. Dany would not be making it out of a surprise viltrumite level fight.

Zarek21

We as Readers know this, yes. But Dany does not, thus your argument is flawed

Alun Lewis

Well...I guess my speculation about the various deities of Planetos stealing from the Goa'uld's playbook way back when was at least partially right. But now I'm curious about if The Great Other is an another Viltrumite (who became extra hardened enough against cold to be OK with living in Planetos' version of the Arctic Circle) or is another species shown/mentioned in "Invincible". Could make up a new species, one supposes...maybe have TGO be the last survivor of a species the Viltrumites had to wipe out for being too rebellious, with big ol' hatred for Viltrumites and a knowledge of all their strengths and weaknesses? As for the Seven calling in Dany to work her healing mojo? Wasn't the way I expected our Dragon Queen to show up to help out, but beggars can't be choosers. Though it's probably too much to hope that all of Axel's harem mount up on Drogon to come and rip Axel a new one...Sansa & Arianne were still pregnant last we heard and I think Margaery & Tyene would do their best to sit on their queens to prevent them from unduly harming themselves or the babies. Though, now that I think of it, wouldn't the next generation of Houses Baratheon, Stark & Martell be super-resilient, physiologically, even as infants?

William

Im pretty sure Dany knows that a fight that ended with Axel, the guy who was playfully grappling with her building sized dragons, with a hole through his chest, would obviously not end well for her or her dragons. Thus your argument is flawed. We as the readers may have more context to the situation, but there are plenty of context clues that Dany can use to understand whats going on, especially if she just asks him, or he just tells everyone, what the hell happened that led to a hole through his chest.
