Would be kind of interesting if the cause for the deaths is a movement of muggle born witches , at the head hermione, who try to secure equal rights for men and woman in magical society by killing all men who they see as supression witches without understanding the laws that secure their welth against such movements. Double points if the leaders are a groupe of bottoms who secretly want to be held in check by their percieved betters who are acting up, and he takes controll of them in the process. Could leadto all kind of chaos.

First off, Cambrian, I think "…like she owes him something for what he’s done for him", is supposed to be "…like she owes him something for what he’s done for her". I agree it makes sense if it's because of muggles, but I HIGHLY doubt Hermione would be in it- at least, not willingly.

Alun Lewis

Hermione would have started mighty young, then...if this world is otherwise a mirror to the prime Potterverse (barring the death of most wizards in Britain over the past 8 years), the deaths started when Hermione was 14-15 and in her 4th year at Hogwarts.

Alun Lewis

It's 2002...and the deaths have been going on for 8 years at this point...meaning they started around 1994...hmm, why do I think the Tri-Wizard Tournament has something to do with this issue? Specifically, the use of the Goblet of Fire being used as a competitor selection method...and possibly Harry's name being submitted but no Harry Potter was avaliable to fulfill the contract obligations...and the Goblet's magic continues to hunt for a seemingly unavailable or non-existent 4th competitor. Though Fleur, back at Gringotts, didn't recognize Harry as an adult version of a boy she'd met before or react to him naming himself heir to the Potter & Black families as if he was a known quantity come back to life...so I wonder if Voldie kept up the canon plan in order to use the TWT to lure Harry out to kill him after using Harry's blood to give himself a body (due to disbelieving the "lie" the Wizarding World was told: that Harry died in 1981 vanquisuing Voldemort), and the initial step backfired horribly. Side note: did I inspire the first part of this chapter with my "prophecy" in the comments of last chapter, or was it a case of me taking a huge swing and managing to connect for a home run? Because I'm not sure I'm ready to cope with being a muse to Cambrian if it was the former case 😉

-Which is why when he says ‘wouldn’t that be fun?’ he’s not even being facetious. He actually means in. Typo at the end: in -> it. Another great chapter!

Cambrian

I definitely stole the 'her bed' idea from you!

If she accepts the job, give her at least a week of mandatory vacation or such.
