At first I was tempted That they would both go but the strategist in me remembered that even when Obi-Wan was with Anakin and ahsoka he would stay on his ship to provide moral support for the clones on his venator class star destroyer. So it would be smart for one of them to stay in orbit to watch Trench just in case he tried anything

Ofunu

Tactically it makes no sense for them to go in person when they could send a squad of clones to investigate Trench's claims. Though if diplomatic customs require an officer I guess that one of them is required. But strategically it would be foolish for them both to go without anyone keeping Trench in check.

Chris

I think Anakin Should stay since he at least knows of Admiral Trench tactics and what tricks he might pull

SpokenSoftly

Aayla is a more traditional Jedi, more skilled in diplomacy than strategic combat. Vader is very much more a combat-boi. Both of them going down would let the trained military men run the show without letting Aayla get in the way. Vader going down would be a least-optimal decision, Aayla going down would be potentially most-optimal from the point of view of Vader being able to give live input to the clone commanders.

Anakin's Admiral, Yularen, also knows much of Trench. And was the one to inform Anakin in the original timeline.

Harlequin

problem is he's shown he knows more about their situation than she does. she might be more diplomatic but she doesn't have all the information vader does (or as much as he's shown)

Alun Lewis

Hmmm...Aayla has some thinking to do, doesn't she? Vaderkin's knowledge would be useful either as the GAR officer to coordinate with Yularen in any space combat against Trench (while Aayla goes to the surface to have a meeting or confrontation with the Dug Ruling Council about Trench's claims) OR going down to the planet to suss out what the Dugs are doing (due to his greater familiarity with the species and their habits/beliefs/history). Though the latter scenario would allow Vaderkin to make some deals of his own...like promising the Dugs complete control of the production, sale and distribution of Malastarian Fuel in his future empire in exchange for favorable pricing to his government?

Solusandra

Personally, Vader should use his new power and control to turn on Battle Meditation, crush the other fleet and keep the Dug out of the battle. Battle Meditations Mass Mind Control can do shit like that, and it's technically a light-side power. More force neutral, honestly, but its classed as light side. THEN, after all that is done with, they go down to the Dug council and work something out.

"Imagine of the Hutts landed on Ryloth..." should probably drop the "of"

Alun Lewis

Or make it "if" like I assumed you meant 😉

Cambrian

@Alun Lewis, I did originally mean 'if', but looking at it now, the sentence works better without 'if' imo!

JRC

I would think they'd both go down to the planet- not because it's the best tactical solution for the Republic, but because if Aayla's going to make good on her idea of making "Anakin" fall, she's kind of got to be around him, right?
