Hey everyone, so with the recent climax of Endless Legacy and winding down that fic, I wanted to get this Vibe Check started sooner than later, to effectively get a mandate from all of you before I put too much time into something the majority of my patrons don't want.

Essentially, as of right now I am planning to replace Endless Legacy with another DC Comics fic. However, if the majority of my patrons want me to take a break from DC and do another setting instead, I want to know as early as possible.

Right now, the barebones idea I have for this next DC fic would be 'magic-based'. Obviously, certain parts of Endless Legacy skirted close to the vast amount of magic going on in the DC universe, but with characters like Raven falling to the wayside and characters like Zatanna Zatara never getting shown at all, I figured a magic-focused DC fic could explore things that Endless Legacy did not.

That said, I do not really have any more than that so far except for suggestions over in the Discord, so if you do vote for replacing Endless Legacy with a magic-focused DC fic, feel free to also shoot me ideas in the comments below on what you personally would like to see in such a thing!

In the event that Option 2 wins and the majority choose 'a different setting entirely', there will probably be further Vibe Checks in the coming weeks to help me nail down exactly which setting/story idea people would want to see the most!

I'd be interested in an MC that gets a variation of Shazam's power. But make them interested in magic. Maybe involve the Helmet of Fate? Or maybe some kind of magical tinker/enchanter that rubs shoulders with heroes and villains.

I would really like you to make a Hollywood story, too much of the story focuses on one or two women not at all actually... I would like a reincarnate who does not spend his time making films but also enjoying Hollywood life. someone like you write us a great story. otherwise I would like a story that is a universe shared by several series that I have liked, person of interest, forever, buffy, power ranger...

I'm not interested in writing Real Person Fiction or smut involving celebrities, especially because I worry Patreon would not let me do so. So at that point it would have to be a Hollywood made of entirely Original Characters and it kind of feels like that would defeat the point lmao.

Honestly already kinda questionable on the whole superpowered/supernatural front, but then again one of the ideas I had in mind was stargate which isn’t any better lol, but honestly most of the things I had in mind are more along the lines of Star Trek for a sci-fi example

I'll probably put it in the vote for what to replace The Sun Reborn with if nothing else when that finally wraps up, because I know for a fact I'm not doing another Cyberpunk fic lol. I've pretty much plumbed that setting dry of ideas

With Grimoire's Chosen also coming to a close, maybe a Chaos Gacha fic would be fun this time around. Loose concept: a Young Justice fic in which the MC is Doctor Fate's apprentice... until the Chaos Gacha suddenly picks him as its newest vessel. Then he joins The Team somewhat in disgrace because of the whole Order vs Chaos thing.

A Harry Dresden type character could be fun. I know Constantine kind of already fills that roll, but while I love the guy he can deal with another gum shoe wizard for competition. Another option is maybe a secret prince of Gem World was spirited to or sired on Earth.

Definitely not doing a Chaos Gacha fic tbh. Like 99% sure of it. I'm extremely burn out on keeping track of stuff like that from The Grimoire's Chosen. I hated how much the game aspects of the Celestial Grimoire got in the way of me telling a story, and Chaos Gacha would be even worse because instead of just writing a fun story, I have to stop and think about whether every single event is worth a ticket and what level of ticket and then roll the powers and write about the character reacting to the powers. So yeah, consider this rant me saying to not expect Chaos Gacha from me lmao. I won't say its 100% not gonna happen, but right now I'm fairly confident it won't happen.

Mass Effect and Stargate will likely be settings we eventually explore in Somewhere to Belong. There's a lot of those settings that I don't necessarily see myself writing a focused, long-form story in that I hope to play around with in Somewhere to Belong's multiverse-spanning sandbox. Stargate is especially a setting I would never write a full story in, but as a stopover for STB's MC, it should be fun.

"something" is really vague. That it's doing well at all is kind of shocking. DC magic isn't great, though, so that could be why. DC magic is driven by characters rather than the magic itself being any good.

Some people have suggested a Young Justice setting/character, that could be interesting. I'd say for a magical MC maybe a demon. Not sure why, it was the first thought that came to mind. But if we do go for a different universe, well maybe a crossover of various Isekai anime. I've thought about suggesting that for the prompt fics but haven't come up with anything concrete before. I just think maybe crossovering the best girls of Overlord, Re:Zero, Slime, etc could be interesting. Also hey, that's magic based

I liked this story mostly because the mc was an oc. I don’t know why but every time I see a dc or marvel prompt poll with a male character from that universe I have a hard time believing them in the situation listed. Like I get that Batman fucks and I have enough long boxes to back up my knowledge on the subject, but most of these situations seem so out of character.

Yes. This one, sure there are plenty of Joffrey fics, but not enough biokinesis fics. The one good biokinesis GOT fic ive found is currently sitting at a not amazing cliffhanger for the last few months.

I know, that a popular concept for a more horny version of the series is if Ainz was an Incubus or a some other kind of monster that had actual flesh and blood and a libido. Having it be a poll story would be interesting.

Well the Biokinesis one is Tinkering with Life by Elfon, if im remembering the title right, theres also The Crippled Wolf and The Golden Lion, on scribblehub, maybe check warnings on that second one before reading. Course those three arent quite the same as Cams own GOT stories but they're quite well written and nice ideas and they go pretty far except for the one by Elfon which currently stops around chapter 80.

Lol yeah, that's a dead fic forevermore. The Sleeping Dragon was already the Spiritual Successor of Domineering Dragon designed to 'finish' the idea off as a story poll after the commissioner dropped Domineering Dragon haha. Still, very deep cut xD

Cam seemed to be leaning towards someone using Order Magic, and I myself have suggested various ways for them to be connected to the Lords of Order. My first suggestion was a Nascent Lord of Order/Order Magic user with Zatanna as a Mentor.

I feel like it's almost taunting Murphy to say it out loud, but I'm very much into a bit more DC focused on the magical side of the aisle. I will say I think it all works much better when you can work with an OC rather than a pre-established character. I have no real interest in seeing another fic where John Constantine fucks everything, then fucks up everything, then gets fucked up by everything.

To quote Albert Einstein "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff." I'm not sure paradox's are that huge an issue in that universe. I don't think the Skynet from T-3 was the same skynet from the first and second movie, if those first two were even the same. I think the paradox keeps fixing itself by creating new Skynets or something, which sucks because each time Skynets creation is pushed back the more advanced it is and the better tech it has to play with and the humans are always knocked back to the point that it would take decades to be able to make early cold war tech again. Edit: I assume most know but that is not a quote by Albert Einstein but rather the Doctor. But it is kind of funny because it does start out sounding like something a theoretical physicist might say.

Obviously inspired by some other stuff online but I like the idea of a deal made by Constantine or Zatara for fae help in a magical crisis. Deal involves their firstborn child, they had plans to get out of it later but the deal was more literal. The child is given to their mortal parent changling style and matures/ages quickly due to being half fae, obviously the half fae child is the intended MC. I think it’d be fun to see the JL have to deal with funky fae shenanigans, a very lawful chaotic character follows rules to an absolute chaotic degree.

Honestly im not a big fan of the majority of magic characters in DC, with a few exceptions. Personally I'm hoping for a Mobuseka fic.

There's some potential there. When they did something similar in the real comic the heros went to each other's universe and through a series of misunderstanding believed the other side to be evil. Conflict ensues. I can definitely see a story where the universes mix because of some cosmic event and now Themyscira is right next to wakanda and everywhere it's like that. The chaos that comes from that creates a lot of possibilities.

Makes sense to me. To be honest, I don't know much about the magical side of DC. I just know Zatanna and Raven are hot. Also, Absolute Wonder Woman is the magical protector of Earth and she's also hot, but all versions of Wonder Woman are so 🤷‍♂️

Maybe. I wouldn't know. I'm not reading it. Not into DC as much, so really the "barely a DC fic" seems like more than enough to me. Not gonna say I would hate it if Cam goes for another DC story but it would probably not be something that would appeal to me.

The majority of the folks voting on your polls like OC main characters, but I don't much care for it unless the entire setting is original. If it was a magic-based DC where... Say... One of the Robins that went on their own way fell into magic and went that route in contrast to Batman? That would be epic. But random OC who I am not invested in? Not so much, for me.

Sucks because fem Ddraig was super unique what about a long form Fairy Tail fic there is literal side switching magic in canon via Nirvana so could do it from either Hero or Villain perspective with corrupting or redeeming the other side including Edolas there are actually both good and evil versions of certain characters like Erza.

Maybe a counter to Shazam in some way. Perhaps using demonic powers. I think there was Sabbac, but could throw in some succubi or similar lewd magical powers and have a different acronym. Maybe Lilith. Gemworld could be a fun concept, it is one of the more defined magical parts. Maybe a new Lord of Order, but not as much of a prude as Fate. A new order.

Hm of popular current stuff that I don't think you have done long form of Oshi No Ko could be interesting or JJK maybe but I think that has lost a lot of steam since they killed off one specific character. Maybe Chainsaw Man as well.

I'd like a DC fic with a much more steady power-scale. Something where the MC can't just jump straight to god-tier in a dozen chapters or less. I'd like to see one where the story has room to breathe and develop as the MC has to actually learn how to use their powers creatively to get by, and actually EARNS greatness instead of having it handed to him on a platter. The main problem I ended up having with Endless Legacy was how Lucien shot straight to the top with little-to-no effort, destroying any sense of stakes and reducing the story to little more than "which character is he going to fuck this chapter?" Don't get me wrong, I like porn as much as the next guy, but when the story has so little else going for it, it starts to come off as stale and repetitive very quickly.
