A/N: Poor Serafall…
-x-X-x-
Serafall has managed to recover from her extremely justifiable crash out right around the time that Grayfia returns with Amadeus Valefor and all the others. She’s on her feet again even as they all come out of the portal, exiting what looks to be some sort of wasteland.
Truthfully, she’s relieved to see that they’re all alright, even if Grayfia had already said as much. There doesn’t seem to be a single hair out of place on any of the pretty little heads in front of her. Meanwhile, the members of Huntrix and K/DA look around in wonder, seeming shocked by the construction efforts going on all around them. By now most of the rooms and walls have been fully reconstructed and the magical construction crews are just finishing up with the ceilings and the top of the tower.
“What in the world… they’re really going all out, aren’t they?”
Mira snorts at Rumi’s words, crossing her arms over her chest.
“We’ll see if they can recreate your garden first. Not to mention my makeup supplies.”
Serafall puffs out her chest a little bit at that, because yes they could indeed recreate both of those things. Devil magic was extremely versatile like that.
“But the Couch™ is gone forever…”
Blinking, Serafall looks to see Zoey morosely staring at the exact replica of their couch that has been magically recreated down to the last fiber. Seriously? It was pretty much the same thing, even if it wasn’t! But if you didn’t know any better, you’d think that someone had killed Zoey’s cat or something!
The scene gets even more ridiculous as Rumi and Mira step up on either side of Zoey and place a comforting hand on each of her shoulders.
“We’ll never forget her, Zo.”
“We’ll just have to make all new memories with this couch instead, alright?”
Zoey sniffles and nods, wiping the startlingly real tears from her eyes with the back of her hand. Bah, and people called Serafall eccentric and weird! Well, whatever. Turning away from the odd scene, Serafall focuses on K/DA while gathering herself up to her full height.
It was time for the Satan in charge of Foreign Affairs to step up to the plate. Yes, Lucrezah had made an absolute mess of things, but she’d also provided an opportunity. At this point the Underworld had already firmly stuck its foot in it, so Serafall might as well go all the way and offer… K/DA… her personal… protec… tion?
Serafall’s thoughts slow to a crawl as she finally gets a good, proper look at the members of K/DA. Evelynn, Ahri, Akali, and Kai’Sa all stand there looking just as baffled at Huntrix’s behavior as she is, while also being astounded and a little out of their depth over the reconstruction efforts.
But their reactions don’t matter. What matters… is the fact that they’ve already been reincarnated. A whimper leaves Serafall’s lips as she realizes this, eyes sliding over each of them and then back again, like staring at them all will make what her senses are telling her suddenly not true or something.
Finally, her neck creaking a bit in the process, Serafall slowly turns to the culprit of this latest bit of nonsense. Amadeus Valefor, sensing her eyes on him, stops looking around and blinks. The unfairly handsome devil simply arches an eyebrow in response as he gazes back at her.
“Amadeus… what have you done?”
To his credit, he at least has the grace to look a little chagrined. He even shoots a guilty look in K/DA’s direction. But before he can do more than open his mouth to reply… he’s cut off, his defense coming from another source altogether.
“Hey, lay off of him.”
“Yeah, he did what he had to do and he’s been nothing but kind to boot!”
As Serafall turns to regard K/DA while they all come to Amadeus’ defense, she notes out of the corner of her eye that her own surprise is mirrored on his cherubic features.
Glaring at her, all four members of K/DA look ready to throwdown in defense of their new King. Ahri growls.
“If you’re talking about him reincarnating us, you can’t put any blame on him. We asked for this. We didn’t think we had a choice, all things considered.”
Even Evelynn scoffs.
“We still don’t, to be clear. We needed the power he could offer us. Every single one of us.”
… Damn it all. If only Serafall had gotten here a little earlier! But she really had thought she would have time. It had barely been two days since Amadeus and Grayfia rescued K/DA. Serafall had only been waiting for the heat to die down a little bit before she went and introduced herself! Everything had happened so damn fast!
But really, this was truly a political shitstorm and a half. Amadeus was such a greedy young man, taking first Huntrix and then K/DA. And ironically despite the former being more popular than the latter, K/DA came with so much more baggage.
They were going to have to navigate this very carefully, weren’t they? The people who had only left K/DA alone because they thought the girl group was suffering a fate worse than death would all be out for blood. Hell, they’d already tried once tonight! Not to mention Millennium Enterprises… oh and the Old Satan Faction… ugh, Serafall was going to be negotiating for weeks to make all of this go away and-!
Abruptly, the floor begins to glow in the telltale signature of a devil summoning circle. A moment later and Lucrezah rises up from the glowing circle, looking entirely untouched and unfazed… except for a small spot of red on her high, pale cheek.
There’s a pause as Lucrezah looks first to Amadeus and Grayfia and then Huntrix and K/DA and then around at all of the construction before nodding in approval.
“Good to see everything is being set to rights. I have returned.”
Silence reigns for a moment before Amadeus clears his throat.
“Ah… you have something there on your cheek.”
Blinking, Lucrezah brings her hand up to the spot of what Serafall obviously knows is blood. She touches it before blushing furiously and pulling out a handkerchief that she uses to hastily wipe her face clean. Of course, Serafall’s advanced eyesight allows her to see how Lucrezah is only utilizing the cloth as a pretense and is actually using the Power of Destruction on a miniscule scale to destroy the blood entirely.
When she’s done, her face is as pristine as the rest of her and she coughs indelicately.
“My apologies. That was unseemly of me.”
Serafall growls.
“Enough about that! Where have you been, Lucrezah?”
The moment Lucrezah looks at her with a gaze cold enough to freeze the entire Underworld, Serafall knows she’s still in the doghouse. The numerous secrets that she’d been keeping from her fellow Satan have all come out now and the chickens have come home to roost. Basically, she’s fucked.
And yet, they both still have jobs to do and Lucrezah at least recognizes that if nothing else.
“I told you, did I not? I was busy taking out some trash.”
Serafall purses her lips at Lucrezah’s clipped tone and unhelpfully vague words.
“What does that mean, exactly?”
Studying her fingernails for a moment in what is obviously practiced nonchalance, Lucrezah sniffs.
“For one, Millennium Enterprises no longer exists.”
… What. At least Serafall isn’t the only one shocked by that news. Ahri even raises her hand and clears her throat.
“Um… do you mean their Record Label Division specifically?”
Lucrezah’s smile remains as cold as ice, though her eyes are paradoxically softened as they fall upon Ahri.
“No. I do not.”
Oh fuck.
“Likewise, I have… dealt with the Yogwae who thought this was a good opportunity to try and remove you from the equation. They will be going through a… reorganization for quite some time I imagine.”
Ahri blinks at this, even as Serafall resists the urge to put her head in her hands. Lucrezah isn’t done though yet, turning to Akali next.
“Your clan is no longer capable of fielding attacks on you, as your clan no longer has any combat capable warriors left in its ranks. Only women, children, and cripples remain.”
No, no, no…
“Oh, and I burnt my way through at least half a dozen Old Satan bases for good measure. Clearly I’d let them think me toothless for too long. If they wish to make use of you for their twisted ends, they will have to be far greater of a price than this.”
That one is directed at Evelynn. And frankly, Serafall can’t even be mad at Lucrezah about that. After all, Lucrezah is the Satan in charge of Domestic Affairs. If she wants to go blow up some of their rebels down in the Underworld, than that’s fine by Serafall.
But wiping out an international human company controlled by human wizards, killing a whole bunch of Korea’s supernatural leadership, and maiming an entire shinobi clan was… well, it was going to be a massive headache for Serafall to have to deal with.
Then again, maybe it was no less than she deserved. Maybe Lucrezah would forgive her for keeping secrets if Serafall didn’t raise a fuss and just handled all of these diplomatic incidents while holding her tongue?
… Yeah, fat chance of that happening. But at the very least it might start them down the path to forgiveness, and Serafall was willing to try anything at this point.
Besides, it wasn’t like it was too serious. At least there hadn’t been any of the greater factions involved at any point. They could keep this all under wraps still she was pretty sure.
“I would have cleansed your clan as well, Kai’Sa, but they haven’t caused serious trouble yet, so I’ve left them alone for now.”
Kai’Sa crosses her arms over her chest and grunts.
“Yeah… I mean, my family did still send the fucking Archangel Gabriel after me, but I guess since she didn’t try to force the issue we can’t retaliate too strongly.”
Lucrezah inclines her head in acknowledgment.
Serafall, meanwhile, has bluescreened. Did Kai’Sa just say… and nobody was denying it either, including Lucrezah. Meaning that…
“THE ARCHANGEL GABRIEL WAS HERE?!”
It’s at that point that Serafall Leviathan, one of the four rulers of the Underworld, hits her limit and promptly passes the fuck out.
-x-X-x-
Silence reigns as everyone stares down at the Great Satan in their midst. Amadeus can’t help but wince a little bit given how hard Serafall’s head hit the floor. But, uh… she’d probably be fine, right? After all, she was way too powerful to get a concussion or anything like that.
Lucrezah looks down at her fellow Satan for a moment and a flicker of something akin to concern manages to break through her cold façade. With a sigh, she reaches out and sends Serafall somewhere else, causing the Leviathan to disappear into the floor. Amadeus is just going to assume she put Serafall in a bed or something like that…
Once she’s gone, Lucrezah looks around them for a moment, glancing up at where the ceiling has finally been put in place. The construction crews can still be heard but no longer seen. The entire interior of Huntrix’s penthouse has been recreated down to every exacting detail using devil magic, and it’s been done in just a couple of hours.
Amadeus can’t help but be a little impressed by that… he’d really thought they would have to relocate for a while, possibly even permanently depending on how long their enemies hunted them. But apparently not only had the New Satans gone about rebuilding for them… Lucrezah Lucifer had gone out of her way to annihilate their problems at the source… or rather, sources.
He really isn’t sure how to feel about that and a glance at Grayfia shows that she’s every bit as conflicted as he is. Is Lucrezah that obsessed with making amends, or is she just trying to butter them all up for some reason?
Quite suddenly, Lucrezah swipes a hand in the air… and they all find themselves surrounded by the Power of Destruction. For a moment Amadeus tenses up… but then he realizes Lucrezah isn’t attacking or anything as ridiculous as that. Rather, she’s simply using her Clan Trait to give them privacy, the Power of Destruction turned towards silencing the very words that they speak to one another so none of the devils still at work outside overhear them.
“I see you’ve also awoken your Sacred Gear, Kai’Sa.”
Everyone stiffens at that, even as Lucrezah tilts her head to the side.
“And… ah, yes, I see now. A clever use of your Clan Trait, Lord Valefor.”
She’s very perceptive… Amadeus shares a glance with Kai’Sa, not quite certain what to say to Lucrezah in response.
“… Thank you?”
Smiling slightly, Lucrezah bows low at the waist.
“It would be my pleasure to offer you all my assistance… in whatever form that needs. From now on I will be at your full disposal. Be it training, security, pest control… or anything else your hearts desire.”
Amadeus narrows his eyes… because even though Lucrezah is making it sound like she’s talking to all of them, she’s specifically bowing in his direction.
At his side, Grayfia growls.
“Lord Valefor doesn’t need your help! He’s done just fine without you!”
Before Amadeus can reprimand Grayfia for speaking on his behalf, however, Lucrezah straightens up and nods.
“I see that, yes. And yet… the offer is there all the same.”
The Satan Lucifer sweeps her gaze back and forth across them all before dropping an utter bombshell.
“Every person in this room… is exceedingly precious to me.”
The crazy thing is, Amadeus can tell that Lucrezah isn’t joking, or exaggerating. She's entirely serious. That’s…
Smiling wider now, Lucrezah shrugs.
“That you all belong to Lord Valefor’s peerage now is quite the boon, in my eyes. It will make everything so much easier~”
Easier in what way? Before Amadeus can ask, Lucrezah suddenly looks up.
“Ah… and that’s it. They’re done. Very well… for now, I will leave you all alone. Thank you for your consideration.”
She bows at the waist again… and then disappears into the floor like that, literally teleporting away while still bent over in his direction. Amadeus just stares for a long moment at the spot where she’s disappeared. And then the elevator dings, making everyone nearly jump out of their skins and immediately assume battle stances… but in the end, the doors open to reveal Bobby.
“Girls, other girls! Amadeus! There you all are!”
Amadeus just blinks as Bobby starts babbling about upcoming events and schedules and things for Huntrix. He shares glances with everyone else in the room before looking around at the completely restored penthouse in disbelief.
What the hell even was tonight? Holy shit…
