Heralds of the Avirentes Development report #5 (Patreon)

Hi everyone! Thank you for continuous support of our game development!

It has been a while since the last status update – we’re sorry for not saying much, but we’ve been working hard on tons of spoiler content, as well as making some dull, but extremely important stuff. Yep, game development is not always a bowl of cherries, you know.

We’re also trying to set up a good pace for productive game testing and new features implementation – no one wants to play a bugged piece of crap, losing progress and encountering soft- and hardlocks behind every corner, don’t you think?

Nevertheless, the largest portion of dull coding has already been completed and the new exciting content is on its way! Currently our artist is working on dozens of important asserts: backgrounds, new set of fonts, battle animations and visual effects of skills, abilities and auras, etc. It takes surprising amount of time to draw all these simple things, as well as to apply some pretty good coloring and visualization, post-processing and so on. But once they are ready, the development process will advance a way faster for we can concentrate more on the story and quests. 

Also, we are working on three different routes our brave heroine Azaries can take and experience – as you’ve already guessed, we mean character classes. Each class should be different and unique, so a lot of attention must be paid to multiple possible dialog branches and lore-related issues, including different game mechanics: for example, one class can sustain much damage and can heal herself, using additional aid – many NPCs might be willing to help her, thanks to the glory and fame of the organization she is the member of; the other one can literary kill non-boss enemy with only one perfectly executed strike, but the NPCs may refuse dealing with her due to religious issues and spiky way of communication (try to guess which class it is) and so on.
