This is one of those 'out of the blue and onto the tablet' kind of pictures.  From an intense flash of imagery of Cinders and Berrand, and the phrase 'This heart is still beating', reminding him that perhaps he's still able to struggle up from the cold dark depths of that water that once took him.

The angle on this difficult, especially with characters with muzzles and characters who's sizes are so different (Berrand is 6'8-ish and Cinders is only 5'2-ish).  But it was vividly how I saw them, with leaves raining and bright skies above.

We struggle to those warm islands of safety, even when the waters are unbearably cold.

This is the last rough sketch of the month (working on inks of another).  I'll be letting the next patron on the list who's up for a sketch know on Friday.  I send these out via e-mail so check spam folders and whatnot.

Perfesser Bear

I hope this was a therapeutic for you as it is for me. I know a couple with their relative sizes -- he's a U.S. Marine surgeon now serving in a military hospital Stateside; she was his logistics specialist in Afghanistan and they married when she mustered out. He's a big honkin' redheaded farm boy and she's a dainty little Japanese-Venezuelan cutie with even more smarts than she has good looks. And now she works the same job for the Brown Truck of Happiness!
