I'm a bit behind in getting arty-bits done and posted.  I had to divert a couple of days due to Smokey, my cat, getting diagnosed with kidney disease.  Its common in older mews like him.  He's going on 15 years old now, but it required a lot of running around to get him new food, get a new medication routine and all that fun stuff.

He's doing okay though, but he's definitely slowing down.  So he'll get all the pets, and all the treats (non phosphorous and as little potassium) he can gobble.  He's my little shadow, and I know what's coming, so I'll spend all the time I can with him.

On a bit lighter of a note, I did get a rough sketch of Heilka done, the Tuktu priestess of the Shorebreaker.  I'm still kind of learning how to draw a person based on a caribou.  The antlers are surprisingly fiddly to get right on them.

I did forget to draw the bone-chips and embers floating from her right hand though.  I'll just try to remember to ink them in.

I also managed to get a bit of adjustment and ink-work done for the cover of Songs of the Tenebrous done, which is slowly starting to take some kind of shape (if its a nice shape or not is yet to be seen).

More to come.

Beautiful work as always, but then I'm biased here We lost our senior to kidney disease a few months ago. I like to think she (mostly) enjoyed her final year: There are a lot of photos a her snoozing in our arms.

Best wishes to your kitty. This drawing is looking quite beautiful already, so I very much look forward to the inks.

Agreed re caribou antlers, btw. Every artist I've worked with has trouble feeling out an angle to them that looks right. I suppose it doesn't help that some species are more aligned front/back and others sideways. But I do love them. I have the feeling yours and mine would have happy trade relations. :)

Caribou and reindeer are not the most attractive Cervines to start with (moose are just plug-ugly, but they're fun). You've managed to make this lady engaging, though. I took my dog to an ice cream stand for her 10th birthday treat this week. A sobering intimation of mortality; she's fine now, but this is the age issues start showing up.

Great character, Caribou is a bit outside of your normal repertoire but she's coming along nicely. My tortie buddy has been on similar meds and diet for about 2 years now, she's 17 and doing fine, good days and not so good days. I'm hope Smokey will be annoying you for some time to come.
