Unless if he has a new truck, I agree with you. Being broke down at a truckstop, eating is really the only thing one can do. And him being broke down plays more so into the food addiction than leaving and the fog bringing him right back.

It's a supernatural restaurant of course something would do anything it keep him in one location but it'll be easier if the truck broken down instead of wasting the deer time with the fog
