It's Been a Bit, Hasn't it?

So I finally have a second to sit down and write this because well, I can't do much else. I'm presently feeling sick enough to where recording the second channel videos is a bad idea as well as any sort of exercise and I'm currently offloading a few files from my recording hard drive to my storage external so it's now a good idea to try writing anything to those drives right now. I'll start up on my Retrospace run once it's all moved over.

No idea when I'd make the video given current circumstances, but I want to at least get the recording done and maybe an outline.

I've Got Bigger Priorities Though:

So as you might have seen in the Cyberpunk video, I'm am going to become a father very, very soon. We're like weeks away from the due date and I was actually scrambling pretty hard to make sure that video got DONE because we're officially at "it can happen at any time now" according to the OBGYN. I'm really excited for it but there's a lot of work I've still gotta do. I've taken all the classes, CPR included, we've got basically ALL the stuff we can reasonably get before the kiddo's born, car seat's installed, baby bag is packed and ready to go, and I have almost finished bolting EVERYTHING to the walls.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping we can at least see Godzilla Minus Zero on Godzilla day which happens before the due date, but you never know when it comes to the first child. On that note, I know this should be obvious but just to make it clear you are seeing exactly ZERO of my child(ren? we gotta see how this first one goes) and I'm going to trying to keep their digital footprint as small as possible in this age of invasive tech and AI slop. Easier said than done but I am absolutely NOT doing any of that family influencer shit. it disgusts me. Heck I'll be changing how my camera backup works and I've also purchased a polaroid camera to keep my family as offline as possible.

I'll probably start talking about my kid(s???) eventually as they grow up like any dad would, but I'll be keeping the specifics about them as sparse as possible. Also if I just disappear for a few more months, you know what's happened and you know everything's fine. I am going to TRY and get back into the rhythm of posting here, but there might not be much to talk about

So Where does that Leave the Channels?

Well for one, I'm not gong anywhere, at least for a few years. I actually did the math and thanks to early child daycare being exorbitantly expensive I would in all likelihood end up having far less money to get by than I would with a traditional job and that's mainly because daycare, especially for early childhood, is STUPID EXPENSIVE!!! It's like $2000-$2500/month for anywhere that isn't sketchy which is easily more than out rent, utilities, and grocery bills combined. While I do have savings, I don't have the kind of money tucked away for that kind of an expense. To put it honestly, I make about as much as a post man does but instead of government benefits I get all the personal freedom associated with being my own boss. It covers my share of the bills in the household while allowing me to put away savings for what we hope is eventually going to be the down payment on our first house. If I wanted cover my share of the bills, daycare costs, and still contribute to savings I'd need to find a place that'd pay me at least 80 grand a year after taxes and I'm not about to run off to an oil fiend right as my firstborn is coming into the world.

So you've got me for at least the next 3 or 4 years.

Lucky for me this is still something that I can do while taking care of the kid and between my wife's and my schedule there's plenty of time if I need some quiet for recording and there's a surprisingly amount of stuff I can do while watching the kiddo once Dr. LaTann's back at work. I'm probably going to have more focus on the second channel because well, those video are a lot easier and far less time consuming to make. I'll still be working at main channel videos that require a lot of time and careful editing and like I said in the Cyberpunk video I'd like to get the RimWorld video done for you all before the year's end. The second channel is actually the success I needed for a while now in that I needed something to augment the main channel. We were planning for kids and I knew that main channel stuff might be hard to do with them so I've been taking the last few years to explore secondary income that doesn't impact what I do on the main. Twitch was a disaster in this respect and the successes have been the Halloween in- I mean, Summer of Spookies Aprons and now the second channel. As always I am so thankful to all of you because you guys are the ones that make this happen.
