Hey gang!

I figured you guys might be wondering what I've been working on... and uh... honestly it may be a little bit out of left field.

I've had an idea for a lightweight smutty little Gingerwood TTRPG system for a while now. I dunno if it's necessarily ready to show, but I figure Patreon might be a good place to give a preview build of what I've been cooking so far! (I promise it's not a 5e hack.)

The core idea is to provide a fun alternative version of the "sex mechanics" that I've seen approached in various ways by other designs. A lot of systems I've seen that attempted to simulate sex have gone for a model that parallels combat; with hit points and a zero-sum-game winners and losers. I wanted to try to make something where the sexy bits are more collaborative and cooperation focused.

The system is built so it could be run on its own OR used as a sort of one-shot side-story in an existing TTRPG campaign. I'd love to know what you guys think!

We'll be back to the smutty drawings soon, I promise.

Another game for me to pick up the rulebook for and never have the opportunity or correct party to play it with! I'm 100% on board.

TenthWing

Unfathomable based, this is a very cool concept. :)

LadyLuck1881

This sounds neat, I enjoy your thinking of moving away from sexual encounters just being reskinned combat encounters.

TallTallSkye

This rocks, can’t wait to playtest it with my wife!

Peak Fiction Enjoyer

Hot damn!! This is so exciting and cool, I can’t wait to see more! Great idea, I love the collaborative style you’re talking about; there should never be losers in sexy times

Stellar Simp

Really cool! Thanks for sharing!

Walter W Matera

I understand RPG but what does the TT mean?

Aeon

first off, sounds cool second. "(I promise it's not a 5e hack.)" oh thank fuck

Emily

This is very cool! I've definitely not gotten a good vibe (no pun intended) from a lot of other sex simulation mechanics. But I also need to get out of my head that my first thought when I saw "Sub Stats" was stats you can only use while subbing

Daniel

Looks fun! Looking forward to more of this!

Ash-and-Flowers

I love seeing people make ttrpgs. Vice and Violence is one I've been meaning to try out and I think Incase has been working on one too

TwoDog

Zara Soliday

CANT wait to test this out. I also love it when artist/people I follow try something new/adjacent to what they currently do. Please keep exploring!

Riza_0B

I would love to play around with this! I am so excited!

EmeraldEngineer

as a hopeless rpg collector and kinky fuck all I can say is, YES PLEASE!!!

kyle nevins

Would love to see this and battle loss clips of her getting turned into the monster she lost to

Matt

Looks fun!

Cue

As a fellow maker of erotic ttrpgs, I just want to say 1) Hell Yea, and 2) best of luck!! You got this >:DDD

Kyman201

Oh! I actually do freelance TTRPG work (VERY small time, admittedly) and I'm a massive TTRPG nerd. I'm very excited to see what shape this takes.

Firewalker

This looks super cool! I might have to share with my current ttrpg group, see what they think 👀

Like a Ghost

The yearn of wanting to do RPG stuff with naughty stuff and keeping it comfortable in a group, or finding a group of naughty folks that would be into incorprating RPG mechanics...

Noah BC

Omg this looks like it could be amazing!

Gandry

Centaurs do oral in a bicep curl position. It’s a great workout

MitchellTF

I like the matching dice mechanic.

Puugu

Oooh what

Zemyla

What are Mochabelle and Praline's sexualities? They aren't on the sample sheets.

Luna Hubert

Neat idea!! I don’t mind art slowing down a little when it means we get other stuff in a similar vein like this!!

Jason Blackthorn

That sounds like it could be great fun! Awesome!

Spicymancer

Haha I added that entry later and forgot to update them. Mochabelle is bi, Praline is pan.

Gerald Sears

Why does Andy only have 4 stat raises?

Gerald Sears

Is there a discord or perhaps we could set up a play test somewhere?

Jayyen

Hell. Yeah, this really cool thank you. Now I can put Eclair with a drider

Inumo

There's a lot of neat stuff going on in this design, though I also have some reservations (as someone who is also designing a XXX TTRPG). Would you like feedback, or are things early enough that everything's still settling?

Thistledowne

Omg. 😍 World's are colliding. 💥 Minds (as well as other things) are being blown sky-high. 🤯 I cannot wait to dive into this! 🤓🤿

Loving this and looking forward to updates. Some typos/missing info at present: "Sexuality: ( Your characters sexual preferences )" - characters should be character's "Oh dear, the character loses some resource, article of clothing, or becomes mildly injured/inconvenienced, in addition to these consequences, suffer 1 appropriate fatigue (determined by you or the GM)." - One long run-on sentence. The comma between 'inconvenienced' and 'in' should be a full stop, semicolon or em dash. There was one other one somewhere I spotted during initial reading, but couldn't find again when skimming back looking for it. Maddening. Not totally sold on the dice-matching aspect with d6's. Will have to playtest it to see how it ends up working out, but generally speaking with how dice probability works, trying to match exact numbers can be super frustrating as opposed to meeting some kind of threshold with modifiers, or matching a called high/low or odds/evens result or something.

Pockets

Oh, now this I am interested in...

Zhana

I'd love to play Eclair😂

Eryk

this could be a fun use of that rape slime I accidently world built, a one shot with it as the BBEG

CuriousChaos

Posting this when I'm already thinking about my (intended-as-sexual-but-can-be-rendered-SFW) homebrew campaign- If you released a full thing, that'd be so cool!!

GM

I would love to see this as an RPG.

Spicymancer

Thanks for the notes! The math for the matching works out to my satisfaction however that doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the play experience. That being said, I wanted to do something a little experimental rather than just rehash forged in the dark or burning wheel etc.

Spicymancer

Ahh she traded them for an optional trait mechanic that hasn’t been implemented in this version.

Tama

THIS IS SO COOL

Tama

Can I show this to some friends who aren't patrons to try it out with them??

Helen Dingo

I really like it being a "Meets It Beats It" system. Since the game isn't meant to be very high stakes, it makes it less of an issue if you fail, since it can mean so many things in the context of the system.

Jazz Fox-Canning

Can't wait to see the werewolves playtesting this with Eclair. "Come ON I need it harder~" "Can't. We only scored the 2s."

Dr Razno

I'm intrigued. You might consider having a space on character sheets for tags or traits that could trigger other characters' weaknesses - like if I made a character who was kinda dumb and then they met Mochabelle, there'd be a mechanical effect for her noticing, you know? Speaking of, it looks like her sheet isn't quite complete - what're her charm points?

StarFishHugger

I fucking love sex stats! I am all for this! Even the statblocks are hot!

Fauxpunny

I remember remodeling WUSHU RELOADED to a sex tabletop- the core gameplay isn't "zero sum" combat exactly, it's more like guided roleplaying where you get more mechanical power by being more stylish and detailed in your narration. You don't roll for success or failure on tasks, but rather assume your character does what you say they do, and the rolling is to see how much you've advanced the current scene toward its point of resolution. (In essence, the scene itself has hit points, but no one IN the scene does.) The only substantial change to the game as it was originally written is that the player character has three freeform write-in "skills" which affect how many of the dice you roll can count as hits. (Every die that's at or below your skill rating.) And t might be fun to have the "skills" be something the NPC partner has instead- as kinks and preferences and such. In that case the GM wouldn't disclose them all right away, and just decide which one you're hitting based on how you narrate, and when you roll your dice, the GM tells you how many of them are hits, making it a guessing game to try and suss out what your partner likes and how to best please them. With THAT being the emergent "gameplay," I figured the story would fit best if you're like... an ambitious new temp at a brothel, or something. Probably not like the gingerwood prototype since you're still trying to "win" at intimacy, but at least it's not in a system where that means making your partner "lose" at it.

Kyman201

So after looking these over for a bit, I like a lot of the ideas here. It's a pretty solid light-rule foundation and I really appreciate the mechanical incentives of trying to work together to get a good-enough string of results. I look forward to seeing how the teased Traits will interact with the base mechanics.

A Bad Mean Man

The concept rules and the system seems nice and light, and pretty promising. It somewhat reminds me of Reign, with the set-matching for dice. Since both the value on the die face and the number of dice holding that value matter, you might want to add a mechanic for "squishing" (Reign term) the dice sets, by exchanging the length and force of the set (in Reign it's height and width). So for example, a set that's 6 long and 1 force could be squished to be a set 4 long and 3 force. Something to consider, possibly for trait options? Or maybe as a feature of your Role or Sexuality or Tags. It might also be good to have an option for red flags on the sheet, as well - things that the character won't participate in, even in a contest. For someone as dedicatedly omnisexual as Eclair, not necessarily a priority, but it's worth considering.

Curiousmind94

Looks cool. Are there specific species playable or just any that have been encountered in the comics?

Dave Van Domelen

I wouldn't want to see this expanded to be a full TTRPG, because then you'd get into places where the core mechanic is not a good thing (just as traditional TTRPG mechanics are not a good thing for sex). Better to have it as a bolt-on module for any other TTRPG. It could usefully be expanded to cover any social situation that needs dice, for games without a robust system of their own. (e.g. Blue Rose wouldn't need this, but D&D would.)

Bikeyb

Oooh that does sound fun. I've been thinking of something in the same vein before, but never got very far. I'd be into checking it out

Mobius Mechanicus

You might want to look into Kinks and Cantrips, which is a supplementary ruleset for DnD focusing around kink, for inspiration. if you get this off of the ground maybe we could be running the gingerwood rpg on discord?

David Wilson

Definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Exile

This is wonderful. Love the mechanics design!
