Unfortunately because she was a clinical microbiologist, my late wife developed a life-threatening latex allergy. It became an occupational hazard when HIV showed up. That's why you never see white gloves in doctors' offices or hospitals anymore. Worst part is, the allergen shows up in multiple foods, as well. When we went out to eat I had to taste any unfamiliar soups to prevent her going into anaphylactic shock. Not fun.
