"You look different.", "Yes, Doctor.", The Doctor noticing Nyssa's outfit, "Snakedance" This is a nice story bringing back a recent Who enemy tied into Tegan's dreaming again. It would be terrifying to imagine what might have happened if this had all been initiated after Tegan had been left on Earth after "Time-Flight" with no Doctor around. And I love the delicious world-building in this story - the reported history of this civilization. There is a big world out there all shown in some small TV studio sets. And Janet gets to do her evil Mara acting again! "Oh, they were frightful. They were all covered in ash. Some of them were almost naked. They lived entirely on roots and berries and things, and they put themselves into trances. It was quite disgusting. They handled live snakes, I remember.", Tanha, "Snakedance" Yes, a nice Who story! Except for all the snake imagery, I guess. Er, sorry about that. "The Federator's son is bored.", Lon, "Snakedance" This is a very early (first?) TV appearance for Martin Clunes. I never really got into his later roles so he's always been Lon from this story for me. "Dare you come face to face with the finally unfaceable? ... Children half price.", Dugdale, "Snakedance" Dugdale is played by Brian Miller, husband of Elisabeth Sladen. Later, in New Who, he played the tramp in Capaldi's first story. He was also the caretaker of a closed funfair in a SJA story. I've only just realized who the character strongly reminds me of - he reminds me of "The Player" in Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" - especially the film version played by Richard Dreyfuss. "I do find it quite extraordinarily difficult to take seriously a legend that cannot even count accurately.", Ambril, "Snakedance" I like John Carson as Ambril, the stuffy historian. And the "Six Faces" head-piece solution is nice. I've just checked his IMDB credits - 188 entries. I don't really recall him in anything else but I suppose I probably recognised him in rewatching something like "The Saint" or "The Avengers". He's great in this story! And I like the scene when he's boring Tanha and she just plaintively asks when they can eat. "Look at me!", Tegan, "Snakedance"
