"Don't you see? The Blinovitch limitation effect? Oh dear. As Tegan would say, zap!", The Doctor, "Mawdryn Undead" We have another mention of "The Blinovitch limitation effect" - we've heard about it before in other explicit Classic Who time-travel stories: "Day of the Daleks" and "Invasion of the Dinosaurs". It's also been mentioned in New Who - but that was so long ago, nobody could reasonably be expected to recall it. But, I will mention that there was a delightful little ZAP when Eleven's sonic touched a later version of itself - and when we, Classic Who watchers, saw that scene our minds went back to this comment of the Doctor. "This is the third time today that I've yomped up that wretched hill.", Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, "Mawdryn Undead" Poor, Brig. I thought that idea was in this episode but then I wondered if I had been confusing it with an incident in the "Dad's Army" comedy when Sergeant Wilson was made to climb up and down a church tower multiple times. And isn't "yomped" a good word? "I wonder. If I reverse the polarity of the neutron flow.", The Doctor, "Mawdryn Undead" It's worked in the past! "You mean that I did go with Nyssa and Tegan in the Tardis in 1977?", "And were we glad of the company.", Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Tegan, "Mawdryn Undead" And we loved the Brig being there too - both of them. "The two Brigadiers just shorted out the time differential.", "You mean zap?", The Doctor and Tegan, "Mawdryn Undead"
