Yes, Jess, a nice experimental episode this week, that you greatly enjoyed and found it so refreshing to watch. My favorite show being M*A*S*H, experimental episodes are fine by me as M*A*S*H had some superb experimental episodes. Well, there is the one that’s emotionally draining as all hell, not to mention traumatizing as SHIT to the point that I can only ever watch said episode once every ten years. Thankfully, this episode of Supernatural is much more lighthearted in nature. Shared liking how it was relatively standalone in nature. I liked when it clicked for you that the entire episode would be shown through the perspective of the Impala. I kind of laugh how Dean had moments of driving me up a wall, and you were more ok with Dean, and laughed at certain scenes of his. Such as Dean yelling at Sam about the beer. You can go to a gas station and/or liquor store and get more, Dean. I’m also of the opinion that if my brother plays Bob Seger or any sort of music in that sort of celebration that Dean did, he’s getting shot. Also, quick sidenote, and I concede that maybe this is just me. I hear Night Moves, and I think Gene Hackman. Super underrated movie by the way. Then there was Dean’s insistence on his portmanteau names for the creatures and his wanting everyone to say them because he knows they want to, had me yelling, “No, I am NOT saying that Dean.” You brought up the idea of “Vamp-wolf” which actually sounds better than what Dean came up with. Mind you, you got a laugh out of said portmanteau names, so I guess I’m just an old fuddy-duddy. A big highlight of the episode and reaction both was fight scene whilst Castiel was on the phone which had a strong Men in Black feel to it. Shared feelings of really liking that part. Before Castiel even said about the timing of the solar eclipse, I noted that the whispers would be early as the one solar eclipse was two years away by the time of this episode. I remember as my mom went to see that with my brother and sister in-law while I stayed behind with my dad. They all three liked it so much that they basically insisted on dragging me to this year’s solar eclipse half a year back now, whether I wanted to go see it or not. But I digress. Sam and Dean got shit done as usual, with help from the hairpin, and the Hello Kitty purse. Speaking of the latter, those girls are lucky Dean never found out about that. Frankly, it’s astonishing that Dean doesn’t have the mileage memorized. Of course, they ended up going to the one place to eat because of Dean being sold hearing steak get mentioned, makes me say, “Yeah, well, you know what, Dean? I ain’t going to argue with you on that one.” It does spell disaster on the horizon if the monsters are beginning to get scared by the darkness. Deal with that later. One other small note before going into the serious topic: You noted more or less exactly what I said in rebuttal to Dean making the crack about Sam’s nerdiness. How you said, “Hey, it’s HELPFUL.” Me, I said, “Does it help get the job done? Yes? Then shut the fuck up.” Now to the serious topic. Yeah, that is a scene where Sam sees his and Dean’s father. Depending on when things were filmed, Jeffrey being busy being Negan and ...Neganing, plus at least another project he worked on around that time, leaves us with the younger actor as John. I love how you were happy how when Sam awoke, he instantly told Dean about the dream, leading to the honesty between the brothers that you always advocate for. That is a scene that it’s easy to put myself in Sam’s place, and yeah, the honesty there would be very forthcoming. Two brothers sharing when they dream of their late father. For the boys, I would rather their dreams being about their dad rather than their father as it would mean more Bobby for us, and not John. Nonetheless, it is a rather poignantly realistic thing that I’ve experienced. Albeit it’s weird. Even though I never remember my dreams, I still can tell when they include a visit from my dad. It’s not even remembering specifics of the dream, instead it’s the feelings that linger. There are the dreams regaled of like how Sam and Dean described of their father being the age they are now; in my case, best I can surmise is that I more often dream about just getting to see my dad again. Ah. I suppose I’m getting overly maudlin. As you say, the vision from John is vague as shit, so Dean isn’t giving it the greatest consideration, though you can tell Sam and Dean aren’t dismissing it outright which is nice. Again, this was a nice and fun episode that it was just very lovely to see that you enjoyed, Jess, and I thank you very much for the equally nice and fun reaction.
