Yes, I concur with your assessment that Sharon is witchy a lot, and she’s just resting. You know, pining for the fjords and all that jazz. Likewise, I heartily concur, Jess, that there is MASSIVE adoration for this show. Now, in Sharon’s TEMPORARY absence as yes, Jess, she WILL SOMEHOW RETURN, they have to summon someone else to fill her beautiful shoes. And Alice requests Advil with that, whereas you’d demand some tacos. I’d go for a few pots of bagna càuda if we’re taking requests. Filling in, we have Rio, because of course we do. Love how the coven doesn’t know what to make of her, and are playing things by ear. Of course, if Rio proves too “extra” to use the parlance of our times, for our coven, we really shouldn’t judge too harshly, nor mind Rio all that much. After all, she’s still upset because somebody dropped a house on her sister. Certainly, Rio seems to be frustrated to the point of lacking patience, and she just wants to kill some witches. And Agatha has neither the time nor the inclination to indulge a woman that, from the sound of it, is someone whose fetid frustration has overcome her judgment. (For now, anyway.) Now the fans are all clamoring for such indulgence sooner rather than later, and we needn’t worry about that coming to fruition. If scandal is to Rio’s taste, I have no doubt that Agatha shall give her a feast! Alas, we must wait on that one. For immediate purposes, we establish the very unsteady ground, trustworthiness-wise, and clear the air like proper psychopaths. Concerning the body problem, I don’t know if you’re right or wrong. Could just be Rio really wants bodies; April’s always been into some fucked up shit. Not judging. The second I saw everyone sporting the fierce as FUCK looks, I knew you would love them. They were all FABULOUS. Loved the focus on Alice, and Ali is really delivering with the fantastic performance in this. Love your love of Alice’s realization of the true protective nature of her mom’s song. I also love how when Jen was fine staying in the circle, that you were agreeable to the “I live in a circle now. Living in a circle is cool.” Still no tacos though. Related to that: You flailing and yelling “Circle, bitch!!” wasn’t on my bingo card for the spooky season, but here we are, and I most enjoyed it, Leads to another banger of a musical number with shared rocking out to it. Got the blood to sing, sending chills down the spine. And if we aren’t trembling, there’s something very wrong, cause this may be the last time we hear the witches’ song. Though I would certainly hope not as we need more of these bangers. Of course, I’d be somewhat useless in the instrumental part. Everyone was choosing their instruments, I’m watching, noting, “I used to play the euphonium, but I’m rusty as shit. Would that clash too much with this number?” Similar reaction to when Lilia got emotional at the one part. Goddamn, I love Patti being in this. Shared amusement, by the way, of Patti rocking the triangle, or maracas, or the little cymbals, or some such shit. But don’t worry, we will get to hear her get some beautiful singing soon enough. If there’s any justice, anyway. You don’t hire a Broadway Queen such as Patti for this show if you aren’t planning on that somewhere down the road. Her odd non-sequiturs feel like visions reminiscent of how Helaena did in House of the Messy. And I agree that it does feel non-linear, like she’s a timey wimey pinaball bouncing about in the flat circle of time. I had to stifle a cackle when Lilia said, “poor thing”, and I noted, “Ok. That reference was purely accidental. Or maybe that was on purpose. Either way, I LOVED IT!” They succeed in lifting the curse, loved your reaction there. Poor Tobias got hurt, and in a different manner than the ladies, as you noted. Could be the curse, could be Rio. There’s the thing of technically he is a hanger on with this coven. Save that question for later as his getting hurt led to Agatha getting very emotional, which tells us that even if Tobias is not her boy, she has certainly latched onto the idea and has projected said idea onto Tobias. The heart does break a little when she gets told that Tobias is not her boy. That is the power of Kathryn as Agatha. Probably a person that is horrid as shit, yet Kathryn sells her beautiful wickedness, to the point the heart does go out to her there. And aside from that, we end on the nice campfire scene. All the ladies comparing scars, you half expect one of them to show their arm, say, “I don't know about that, but I entered an arm wrestlin’ contest, in an Oakie bar in San Francisco. See this? I can’t extend that. You know why? Cause in the semi-final, celebrating my third wife’s demise, big Chinese fella, he pulled me right over.” Leads to Rio talking about her scar which rhymes with Shmagatha, presumably. Oh, this show is proving delectably, wickedly sumptuous, and your reactions are proving a major delight this spooky season, Jess. Thank you for a another highly enjoyable reaction to Agatha All Along.

When John Cleese dies, everyone is going to be saying "Good riddance, the miserable bastard, I hope he fries," and no one is going to have any idea who's being serious. I only found out later that Patti had done Sweeney Todd, since I'm that out of the loop on the business and still just think of it as Angela Lansbury's role. And I imagine the fights about who did it better can get pretty violent. During the scar scene my mind went more to "Junior year, I'm going down on Cynthia Slater in her dorm room after we went club hopping, I'm totally drunk, and in the middle of it I fall asleep right in her lap. She got so mad she digs her heel into my back, right there. That's permanent."

People are going to use that quote when we lose John Cleese, and yeah, outside of the hardcore Python fans, nobody’s going to know what to make of it. The fight about the better Mrs. Lovett, I imagine that would get VERY bloody, depending on who you talk to. Angela and Patti are about even for me, with the slight edge given to dear Angela, which says something how dear Patti is good enough to reach that level. Contrast to Sweeney himself where it’s between George Hearn and Len Cariou, and the title for my favorite goes to George, especially for that beautiful bass voice that he has. Yeah, the quote you highlighted works very well in this context too. That is a good one.

So I guess singing gay witches are just Disney+'s regular thing now? A little off topic, but I'll take it. And you know how a bunch of people became convinced that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper must be madly in love in real life? I'm kind of getting there with Kathryn and Aubrey. Much to my surprise, the show is still insisting that Sharon is no more and has ceased to be. Still not buying it, but in the meantime I have to point out that this is the second Marvel show where a dead body is reshaped into Aubrey Plaza, so I'm still holding on to her being the Shadow King. And the neat thing is that since Agatha herself is already so shady, we truly have no idea how much weight to give her distrust. We're definitely getting a big damn kiss regardless. Starting the list of outfits we were robbed of seeing Debra Jo Rupp in, which I will die angry about. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Agatha's constant swishing was Kathryn genuinely goofing around once she got in costume, just like how we got the Zemo dance. I briefly got my hopes up from the decor that they'd have to play Cry Little Sister, but this works great too, even if they could have put a bit more effort into making it sound period accurate (watch Daisy Jones and the Six to see just how convincingly that sound can be duplicated in original material). Very gratifying to have the ending seemingly put a kibosh on Starman being Agatha's father. My new theory is that he's a manifestation of her magic that Wanda created, and she'll need to kill him to get it back.

Singing gay witches being a regular thing for Disney+ is not something I’m complaining about. At all. By all means, let’s keep it coming. Let’s have it pop up in Skeleton Crew. Fuck it, why not? I remember the chemistry thing with Peter and Jenna as Twelve and Clara. Here, well, it helps that Aubrey seems to just exude raw sexual chemistry with pretty much every one of her costars in anything. The sexual tension between Kathryn and Aubrey IS some of the strongest that I’ve seen in some time, to the point that if you didn’t know better, you would say they are a thing in real life. They are still trying to sell Sharon having rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible, and we’re just not buying it. And if this show has a mysterious masked and brainwashed clone assassin show up, I’m leaving. Until Sharon somehow returns, the coven needs a replacement. And Agatha is against it being Rio. Surprised she didn’t try to say, “I’ve got a slug.” though she likely anticipated someone asking, “Does it talk?” she would concede, “Not really, no.” and agree that said slug is scarcely a replacement. It is hard to tell how much of Agatha’s distrust we put stock into. The inevitable sex scene will be off screen as this is Disney, so undoubtedly, the fanfiction writers will paint the picture when that happens. But we play the waiting game on that for now. We surely got ROBBED of Debra in one of those fierce as FUCK outfits. I could see the swishing was Kathryn just having a ball in the outfits, and the showrunners just rolling with it as it fits like a glove. I wouldn’t have said no to them singing I Put a Spell on You and/or Come Little Children. The theory of a manifestation of her magic that Wanda created, and she'll need to kill him to get it back that you mentioned: Possible. I quite like the idea if nothing else.
