Behind on these videos though I am, it was finally very, very lovely to see them. Your love for the show, and the third season especially was wonderful, Jess. Your reactions to practically every single part of the big final battle are ones that make a big impression. I find I’m in something of a middle ground with the business of should Daredevil have killed Kingpin or not. Setting aside how Kingpin and Vanessa are my favorites of this show, I do concede that if Daredevil had followed through, it would have been the more pragmatic course of action. Not to mention that you were very much in favor of it, given what happened to Ray. As a fellow Slytherin, that part I am completely sympathetic to your sense of justice on that one. The flip side, however, is that as Karen said, killing anybody will change a man. And Foggy says it best and expresses one of my own chief thoughts by highlighting the Catholicism of it all and observes that if Matt were to cross that line, he’s never coming back from it, nor is he forgiving himself. Hell, Punisher noted the same when Daredevil offered to do things Punisher’s way back in season two, and Punisher is someone who knows that “It’s a hell of a thing killing a man. You take away all he’s got, and all he’s ever going to have.” and he clocks how the damage it does to the soul is not something he would wish upon Daredevil. Ultimately, I do like how you did acknowledge most if not all of that yourself, even if you were in favor of violent death toward Kingpin. And as you say, Daredevil stopping himself is perfectly in character; that howl he lets out there sells the anguish well. I did find myself fully supportive of how you said the thing of if Matt was to stop and say, “I shouldn’t.” that you would be the Ian McDiarmid voice, yelling, “DO IT!” into his ear so as to give him the final push. The other thing is Bullseye, whom I’m not QUITE as protective as I am of Kingpin and Vanessa, though he certainly is a terrific villain, albeit not as wonderfully batshit as a previous variant of the character. I was much more behind you on encouraging Daredevil to kill him, or short of that, subject him to brutal violence. As it was, Daredevil did not manage to do that. Which is where we have our dear beloved Kingpin. He has no such compunctions about killing Bullseye, especially after he went for his beloved Vanessa. Christ, that move where he crippled Bullseye though. And in the end, our heroes fought the good fight, and achieved a hard and well-earned victory, and you had such a perfect reaction to that. Shame about the Snap being around the corner, but I assume that will get tackled in the new season. So, although I reiterate that I’m sadly years behind on this show and your reactions to said show, they were just so tremendous. The reactions you had, you were sensational, Jess. And I am raring and ready to go for the new season.

I loved seeing your reaction to the conversation about how Matt does not want to take a life. You could see that you knew where the show was going at that point (you suspected already). You where not happy that it was setting up Matt to not kill Fisk. I was not either. Only thing I did not like about this season. I mean I get it and it makes sense for his character, but not what I wanted.

Great season of Daredevil and my favorite of the three. Netflix did a phenominal job with the characters and shows of the Marvel Universe. I hope there is a path forward for these shows that will at least match, if not surpass how great these shows have been done. Great reaction, Jessica. Thank you for reacting to this season. Looking forward to your reactions to the Punisher.
