One of the more baffling writing decisions in Falcon and Winter Soldier was to spend so much time on the Flag Smashers starting to get misgivings about Karli's methods, but then never actually having any kind of payoff to that. So it's nice to see this show learn from that mistake, and it's clear that what we see here is just building to the Skrulls learning in the finale that Gravik's Plan B was killing them all and finally being pushed to abandon him, probably with him ranting "I'm cleverer than you" like that jackass from Doctor Who.

Another intriguing episode, which, unlike last week, this week, I was in a better place, mentally and emotionally, thus I was able to enjoy it more. Another thing that helped me tremendously was our dear Olivia in this episode. No apologies are necessary concerning my ears. Our dear Olivia doth incite the same love in me as well, leading me to squeal in joy to an obscene degree myself. She is the MVP of this show. I LIVED for that scene where she took out the one Skrull with a headshot. And her line, “Oh, I don’t doubt you for a moment. The males in my species are very similar. If they’re not busy gaslighting you, they’re threatening you with murder. That’s what all the podcasts are about.” was a line that I instantly loved, and made me say, “That’s one I’m writing down!” Sonya and Fury are going to be a most formidable team-up. I SWEAR nothing better happen to Sonya in the finale. If it does, then I’m going to get mad. Like you, I loved seeing Mason again. His scene was great. Concerning Gravik, your statement saying that you don’t much like Gravik, at all, led me to note, “Yeah, well, you know what? I ain’t going to argue with you on that one, Jess.” In my judgment, he seems to be spiraling. I think his cheese slid off his cracker, if it was ever there to begin with. You say how it looks like the whole ruling through fear mentality seems to be backfiring on Gravik. The tactic can work as our dear beloved Emperor Palpatine proves conclusively. Key difference is that Gravik has put forth the formidably benevolent image of fighting for and caring for his people, which now that he’s contradicting said claims, support is dwindling as evidenced by the sneak attack, a valiant effort by the way. Whereas a man like the Emperor with his unlimited power, he makes no such protestations, leading Gravik to come across as the more detestable, as at least the Emperor’s upfront about how uncaring he is about what an evil heartless bastard he is. It is emotional, the scenes of G’iah contending with guilt over her and Talos’s final meeting. It got me some, her saying what Talos deserves when being laid to rest. My own experience being I think some of that is irrelevant, or at least not as important as perhaps we might lead ourselves to believe. Even if it’s not the most extravagant ceremony and it ends up being as quiet an affair as it was in G’iah’s case, so long as you are there to lay your dad to rest, I think that would be good enough for him. Her and Vaara kicking ass was a sight. I loved Vaara calling G’iah out on the one crack, especially how she called G’iah out by saying to her she did wish to offend with her statement. That last scene with Fury suiting up was great and has me looking forward to the conclusion. Thank you for the lovely reaction, Jess.

The whole entertainment industry seems to have decided all at once "We've spent long enough with this idea that villains need to be deep characters who are even really sympathetic and at worst can make the audience wonder why they're even supposed to be rooting against this person, and now it's time for them all to just be hateable bastards again." And you know what? I'm totally on board with it.
