First off, Jess, I again love the color coordination with the green in your outfit, and especially the color of your nails and your necklace matching. Now onto this finale, and I’m unfortunately going to be an asshole about this. This finale felt a letdown, primarily through the defeat of Gravik. I hear what you’re saying of liking how his character espoused his frustrations and motivations. Early on in that, I was thinking, “Wow, ok, so this guy’s just a complete fucking idiot at this point.” The reason for my saying that was that it was apparent fairly quickly that Fury was faking his feebleness. Also, just how Gravik doesn’t find it the tiniest bit suspicious that Fury just handed over the Harvest. I also called out how stupid it was to leave him on the platform that gives you the powers. Now I didn’t anticipate that Fury was actually G’iah in disguise, though your noting that Fury was upset when the Snap happened, as he was saying “Motherfucker” probably should have been a tip-off. The final fight felt dull, or I don’t know maybe not dull, but it clashed with the spy thriller feel of the rest of the show. Like you said, you loved the focus on the normal everyday heroes facing the grand threat, and this show especially was a great showcase of that. To then end on what felt like a subpar Dragonball Z fight felt a disappointment. I did know, Jess, you’d love the Mantis bit. Olivia, of course, was the best part of this. I needed more of her in this episode, though she does live to appear in future MCU properties. She was the mvp of the show. So, now G’iah is one of the biggest heavy hitters, powers-wise. I guess that’s a good thing. Just hopefully, she doesn’t bring any dragons into the mix. As to Rhodey. The rumblings of scuttlebutt that I’ve heard have indicated that people are reading his scene as the show implying that he was taken shortly after Civil War. I kind of hope that’s not the case, because like you said, that’s pretty fucked up. It feels incredibly bleak even by my standards. So, as I said, I didn’t much care for this finale. Even so, nice to see you enjoyed it, Jess. Thank you for the fun reaction.

I kinda like it that Rhodey was taken a long time ago... We needed one character who was a Skrull for a long time! :)

I’m pretty sure what happened is that the way COVID screwed up the release schedule of Phase 4 caused their plan for when Rhodey was replaced to not make sense anymore, so they cut out the part where Ross’ question is answered while they try to come up with a new one.

If they were going to do that I'd have preferred a Skrull who was a Skrull when introduced. Say we've never met the real Rhodes and he's been a Skrull since before he first met Tony Stark, I'd be okay with that. But anything since just annoys me; it retroactively undermines legitimacy. Like how mad Sam got at 'Brady' in The Devil You Know for taking his friend over at Stanford.

This is great, I noticed years ago that Rhody was acting strange, but I thought he just became a jerk. His jokes became more mean-spirited than early MCU. Making the cheez wiz joke about Thor's weight when he was in severe depression, making fun on Scott in Endgame, and his relationship with Nebula now makes even more sense as they are both aliens and women without a place to go. it feels nice to be correct for once. This is going to open up a lot of character possibilities for Rhody. This is exactly how I felt when I read secret invasion years ago.
