I really love the moral of this season, and in retrospect the entire show, that anyone who makes a big deal about being “not political” will probably just end up siding with the bad guys (see also, Benecio Del Toro in The Last Jedi). I just wish they’d come up with a more compelling way for Geralt to finally come to this conclusion than beating up a bunch of rando soldiers we just met. And this of course also makes for a highly underwhelming finale to Cavil’s time in the role, though they didn’t know he was leaving at the time. And incidentally, the claim that he left over not approving of their changes to the books doesn’t make sense anymore, because this season is easily the closest to the books that the show has ever been, and even takes steps to correct previous changes, like Vilgefortz revealing he’s a great fighter and had been throwing his earlier fights.
