I get what you mean by this episode letting you sit in the sad moments compared to the last episode, hard-hitting though those sad moments were in the last episode. Felicia continues to be delightful as Charlie. I share with you the love of the bond that’s formed between her and the brothers. You mentioned how the episode could be a ridiculous one-off in the intro, I said in response, “Well, uh... Yes and no.” And like you ultimately said, the episode starts out light, then shifts to heavier themes. The opening with the mental construct that Dean was in gave me a laugh because I recognized by the uniform and the picture of Truman the time-period, and I quipped, “A man named Winchester, in an army hospital during the Korean War. ...Oh, yeah, the writers knew what they were doing on that one.” I find it sweet how concerned you were about Sam needing to rest. In my experience, that’s FAR easier said than done. I’d be like him trying to still do his job. Like you said, the thing about Sam’s trying to project the idea of drinking some tea and you are good to go. I’m the same, except in my case it’s pound back a shitload of coffee and orange juice. The damned theatre mentality of even if you have four broken limbs, you’re still going to be on that stage when they raise the curtain. I projected that onto Sam and noted if that’s the mentality Sam has, Dean’s going to need elephant tranquilizers to keep Sam out of the game. I was slightly critical of Dean in that if the roles were reversed, he would be doing the same thing as Sam indicated when he quoted Dean to Dean. Loved your reaction to the fashion montage, especially when you asserted that, “Buffy has PROVEN that you can be fashionable and hunt demons, and vampires, and everything!” I replied, “The Sith prove that as well, though they don’t hunt the aforementioned creatures, they make best friends with them, which is not strictly relevant. Skip that last part.” I kind of share you living for Djinn lady. Slightly befuddled by the pantsuit advice as three jackets and three pairs of pants seems a low number. Of course, I’m no expert. The big moment Felicia had when Charlie laid bare the guilt and fear got me bad. Your own reaction was striking. As someone who has lost a parent, it is as is shown of grappling with that fear of losing them, worse if you’ve been in a caretaking position for a long time before their death. The need to have that goodbye, share one last happy memory is strong. The sad truth is we don’t all get that, though in the end, Charlie gets to have that, read The Hobbit to her mom one last time. I’m both happy for her on that, and envious. Well, maybe happy is not the best word. Other highlights, I got annoyed when Dean yelled at Sam for not catching the beer. I called him out on the macho bullshit, by saying, “You couldn’t just hand the beer to him like a normal person?” I loved you laughing when Sam decked Dean, and when you said, “That was inappropriate.” I replied, “No, it ain’t. I don’t think so.” And the close-up of the needle, there was a shared discomfort. Thank you, Jess, for the lovely reaction.
