A finale with a lot going on to be sure. I shared your protectiveness of Jody in the beginning. Good on the boys for wanting to go over Crowley’s wall of text contract. You say you’d pull up a chair and take time going over it. I too would have gone over Crowley’s contract with a fine-toothed comb, and then handed it over to lawyer friends of mine and have them go over it with fine-toothed combs. The scenes with Crowley were great. Like you, I could have done WITHOUT the needle scenes. I get the plot relevance, even so. You’re looking away each time, I’m getting physically ill practically from Sam injecting Crowley in the same spot. Speaking from experience, you rotate the shots; seeing Sam keep jabbing Crowley in the same spot, I’m practically jumping out of my fucking skin. I did laugh over Crowley channeling Girls, leading me to say, “All the HBO shows Crowley tries to appeal to Sam with, he goes with fucking Girls?” I mean, it is surprising Dean never made Sam watch Band of Brothers; that seems like it’d be right up Dean’s alley. Setting aside how Abaddon had a personal beef with Crowley, I suspect a lot of the other demons, opportunistic bastards that they are, would leave Crowley to his fate so that they could ascend to the throne. Crowley got me when he asked Sam about the confession and his question of where he would even begin to ask for forgiveness. Quite touching how Dean and Castiel teamed-up briefly. I laughed some at Dean’s look of disbelief seeing the two guys making eyes at each other at the bar, I’m shaking my head, saying, “Dean, this isn’t the eighties or the nineties anymore, this is the goddamn twenty-first century. This should not be this surprising.” It is rotten when Naomi was telling the truth and Castiel refused to believe her, fully understandable though the distrust was. I like how you said you got iffy vibes from the Metatron. And now we see that those feelings were warranted as the Metatron is out for revenge. The Revenge of the Nerds, uh, er, I mean, revenge. Sorry, I see Curtis in anything, he’s still Booger to me. Then there’s the big emotional moment between Sam and Dean, and your amazing reaction to it. When Sam says he felt his biggest sin was how many times he let Dean down, I start crying, and saying, “Ok. I did not need this show to hit with that emotional trauma/call me out like that.” Likewise, emotional when Dean allows himself to be emotionally vulnerable. I did get momentarily sidetracked when Dean says he killed Benny for Sam, I noted, “Technically, Benny let himself get killed.” You had a strikingly beautiful reaction to that whole scene, Jess, Lord did it make me cry. Another small highlight of the episode was Kevin calling out Dean for the overuse/overreliance of the sporting metaphors. Of course, considering I often overdo it with the metaphors/comparisons to Star Wars, Godfather, Hannibal Lecter, and Indiana Jones, I’m not one to talk. All in all, a standout finale. See how it carries over to the next season, which, yes, hopefully reveals that Kevin’s mom is still alive. Lovely reaction, Jess, thank you.
