As Darth Vader would say, the circle is now complete. You've seen how Bo-Katan got the Darksaber, from which it would then be stolen by Gideon leading to everything seen in The Mandalorian until ultimately its destruction. Of course, it's now incredibly awkward to see her getting it portrayed as a good thing, after the whole retcon of how it needs to be won in battle, and Sabine simply giving it to her will cause her to be seen as a disgrace who ultimately caused the planet's total destruction (and it's very obvious that nothing like that was in mind at the time these episodes were made given how none of the many Mandos in the scene raise any objection to it). Rebels fans were extremely confused when The Mandalorian's Season 2 finale first brought up that rule, and it's suspected that the full explanation in Book of Boba Fett was rushed in when they wouldn't let the issue go, and possibly even a major reason that show suddenly turns into Mando 2.5 in its second half.

As you say, “The circle is now complete.” I will say it is interesting revisiting this following seeing The Mandalorian. I am curious how far in advance Filoni planned ahead. I remember the controversy/backlash to the discrepency of Bo-Katan refusing to just take the blade from Mando when she did so with Sabine. I did not complain or yell about it as I assumed it would be explained though my one thought was because she didn’t win the blade, she had to do so this time to prove her worth to her people. (Of course, to do that, she’d have to best Palpy in a fight, but that’s a separate concern.) The explanation in Boba Fett, I accepted, therefore. I also noted in Mando season three, through the Mythosaur plot-point, it showed that Bo wasn’t much of a spiritual woman. She even flip-flopped on her opinions about the alleged curse on the planet when she was at her lowest. Mando even called her out on it, outright saying to her, “Make up your mind.” It makes me wonder if because she didn’t have the strongest beliefs in the more spiritual side of things concerning Mandalore, that she saw no concern of just accepting the blade from Sabine, and then regrets the decision when the Emperor sent Moff Gideon to deal with her and the other Mandalorians.
