"I think that was possibly the most important punch in history.", The Doctor, "City of Death" Ok, the Bron and Cleese cameos - exquisite. Actually, I think the idea of two art gallery visitors discussing the meaning behind the mundane Police Box is wonderfully funny regardless of the actors. But with the cameos, it just makes it perfect. Cleese was working on the final episodes of "Fawlty Towers" at the time. "If there's one thing I can't stand, it's being tortured by someone with cold hands.", The Doctor, "City of Death" Nice to see Peter Halliday again, this time playing the soldier with the thumb-screws. He played Packer way back in the 2nd Doctor's story "The Invasion" and also one of the grey-faced aliens in "Carnival of Monsters". Adams reused this idea of going back in time to fix a crashed spaceship and, as a consequence, change the event that started life on Earth in his book "Dirk Gently's Hollistic Detective Agency". He just reused this concept - not the Scaroth-split-across-time stuff. So how does this story with the "This is a Fake" on the duplicate canvas work in with the Sarah Jane Adventures story about the Mona Lisa picture coming to life ("Mona Lisa's Revenge")? I don't know - they're both fun stories anyway. BTW: there is a silouette/drawing of the Jagaroth spaceship in another episode of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" ("Eye of the Gorgon") as an Easter-egg for Classic Who fans. "It will be so much the worse for you, for this young lady, and for thousands of other people I could mention if I happen to have the Paris telephone directory on my person", Count, "City of Death"

Nobody expects the Spanish Iquisition...uh, I mean John Cleese. He and Eleanor Bron just happened to be filming nearby and he was acquainted with Douglas Adams through both working at the BBC.

*Dramatic music sting* “NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise! Surprise and fear. Fear and surprise. Our TWO weapons are fear and surprise and ruthless efficiency! Our THREE weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency, and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope! Our FOUR... no... Amongst our weapons... Hmf... Amongst our weaponry... are such elements as fear, surpr... I'll come in again.” *Dramatic music sting* “NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms. Oh DAMN!”
