Phobias are horrible and, the thing is, the integrity of the reaction format does tend to restrict us warning you. Maybe some kind person could do some business to the story? Of course, the other thing is avoidance altogether. Now I know that some may have words to say, but having seen your reaction regarding snakes before, that's not something we want you to experience! We like to see you enjoying the programme and not be traumatized by it. Of course, we Whovians know which of the stories they are and are concerned about it. One is obvious by it's title, another not so. My only thoughts on this is that a consensus may be reached as to how to proceed about it? A vote perhaps? Onto K9. John Leeson became worried about how appearing only as the voice of the character would hinder future employment if he was not appearing in visible roles; so he left the role of K9. If you remember, Jess, that K9 had laryngitis in at the beginning of City Of Death. Doctor: " How can a robot catch laryngitis? I mean, what do you need it for, hmm?" So, The Doctor repairs K9 and K9 gets a slightly different voice. David Brierley's is a slightly, though noticeably, huffier voice. Organon, the Doctor's elderly new friend whom he met down the pit, is played by Geoffrey Bayldon. Those of us of that generation knew Geoffrey as the elderly wizard Catweazle in the early seventies series of the same name about a 11th century bumbling wizard who time jumps 900 years into the future and befriends a couple of 20th Century children. He also played The Crowman to Jon Pertwee's post-Doctor Who scarecrow character Worzel Gummidge in the late 70s and an alternative Doctor in the Big Finish series Doctor Who Unbound. His film and television credits as a character actor are far, far too numerous to mention in a small space. Regarding the creature's design. Yes, it has attracted some ribald comments over the years and I suspect some were from the cast members. Was the creature a cast member? I don't think anyone saw it's Equity card. I will only defer to a brief dialogue between The Doctor and Jamie which Patrick and Frazer would slip in to get a laugh. "Will you look at the size of that thing, Doctor!" "Yes . . erm . . . Jamie. It is a big one!"

Thanks for another great reaction. On the big S**** thing that you mentioned. Not giving anything away - except to say that you hopefully will get the chance to watch with original effects or more up to date ones. It doesn't look as convincing with original effects, which may be more paletable come the time. I found this to be a really weird story, which I still cannot quite get my head round. On the creatures, ahem looks at certain angles, Tom Baker had a lot to say about it during his reaction to this story. In particular that actors in other BBC studios were all falling about in fits of laughter when they saw it. He also light-heartedly apologized for reasons that may be apparent in your next reaction. See you next time!

Regarding the ophidiophobia that Jess has. From what we've seen, that seems a pretty unforgiving phobia she's got there. One as strong as that may deserve some caution of approach and possibly even editing of the show. Can any of her close friends do that for her? Blurring has been done before for the Fiftieth Anniversary special, in that case, the blotting out of guest star names. Possibly even a sound only treatment for those scenes. There's still a fair amount of time before those stories.

James Fish

It's possible of course, but up to Jess ultimately on how she wants to handle it. I suggested the original effects because I've seen both and the original effects make it look ridiculous.

Of course the second serial is obvious by the title. The first is obscure and she won't know until the story happens upon it unless a friend forewarns her.

James Fish

Indeed yes, but it's hard to weigh that up against the fact she doesn't like spoilers & I fully get that.
