An unexpected surprise, both this special and your reaction. My one thought when I heard it would focus on Atom Eve’s origins was that it wasn’t something I strictly speaking needed to know, though I was curious. Yes, as you say, this hits you in a way you don’t anticipate. Samantha’s story is surely one that is quite sad. I am amazed at how much I forgot about my feelings concerning her dad; he is a piece of work. I echo your thoughts on her parents really could have done certain things differently. The feeling different, “Not normal” and thus, ostracization that Samantha went through was relatable. Yeah, it is a thing of you feel like an outsider, and your parents need to step up to the plate, so it doesn’t get so bad, which, as you said, they really could have done better for their daughter. I share your understanding of the friend being justifiably freaked out when Samantha demonstrates her powers. Shame that she cut ties with Samantha though. I concur with loving the fight scenes in this show. Likewise, I’m reminded of how great the voicework is. I quite liked Stephen Root as the doctor, creepy though he was in his semi-stalking, knew you’d comment on that. Lance Reddick was great as the villain. I was sorry to hear of his death earlier this year, thus it was nice to get to have one more performance from him. The sibling subplot was horrifying and tragic. The entire climactic portion, it just guts you. Your reaction to all of it was excellent. Then when you’re still processing that, they hit you with that last scene of Omni-Man, which made me think back on that infamous scene in the last season finale. Which reminds me that thought I do wish to rewatch the first season, I still don’t know if I’m emotionally ready enough to revisit that one scene just yet. Regardless, a lovely reaction to a great special. When you mentioned about the season being in parts, I said, “Oh right, I did hear they’re splitting the season up some.” I look forward to sharing the new season with you. I know my brother and sister in-law are looking forward to starting Invincible again; my brother especially has been chomping on the bit for the new season.
