"Don't cross your bridges before they're hatched!", The Doctor, "The Leisure Hive" Yes, there are quite a few echoes of what we see later in New Who in this one: the skin-wearing of your favorite Slitheen characters; the regeneration machine of "The Lazarus Experiment"; the rapidly aged Doctor in "The Sound of Drums", and as you pointed out the reversion to a new-born as in "Boom Town". So, you pointed out that the logistics of fitting a big alien into the human-size skins. Well, perhaps they should be using some kind of compression gas-exchange technology of a type that you enjoyed so much in "Aliens of London". Perhaps, not. We've seen the TARDIS being used as a blackboard before. I think back to the delightful Professor Rubeish in "The Time Warrior. They certainly got good use out of their new video effects tool for the "Pangol" army. BTW: I always imagined Hardin and Mena as just very close friends - you're probably more romantic that me.
