Oddly enough, this released on Christmas Eve rather than the day itself. They even could have swapped it with the next one no problem, so I don't know what happened there. But that doesn't take away at all from how fun the whole thing is, including being extremely knowing about the Die Hard stuff. And boy, have I been in Darcy's position a few times of being able to think of a ton of similar types of movies but not the title I actually want. Happy actually did become a Hulk in the comics for a while under the name The Freak, and some fans are now suspecting this is being set up for Avengers 5, because of course nothing can ever be just a fun thing for its own sake. But really, is anything more important than now having an animation of the Hammer dance?

“The Die Hard of it all.” indeed. Yeah, when I saw it, knowing your love of Die Hard, I knew this would be right up your alley. I also knew your brother would appreciate it given how you’ve spoken of his love for Darcy. When I heard that Hammer was going to be in this, I hoped that Sam Rockwell would return, and I yelled, “YES!!” when it became clear that was the case. Love that you loved the party planning focus at the beginning. Once it sunk in that we were doing a Die Hard homage, I said, “Oh, sweet Jesus, thank you.” Yeah, the whole thing was fun as hell. The homages were well done. When Hammer fell as Hans did, that one got me the most, saying, “Goddamn, that’s uncanny!” It is a relief that the Avengers don’t do any permanent harm to Happy. Other highlights: when Darcy only remembers Reginald VelJohnson, and hearing Happy’s response to that, I said, “You have a problem with Reginald VelJohnson, Happy? And no, Darcy, you are not dear Reginald. You are Argyle. With some shades of Theo as well.” I too like a Nutcracker stand-off. The whole bit with W.E.R.N.E.R. had me in stitches to the point I had to pause a minute just to laugh, and then came the double take when Darcy said it sounded like her dad, leading me to say, “Your dad sounds like Werner Herzog?” I also got so fucking triggered by Darcy wanting to play that goddamned Mariah Carey song. This was just such a fun episode, and a lovely reaction, thanks Jess.

Then again, Die Hard does start on Christmas Eve, so it feels appropriate. Though yeah, they could have released this on Christmas Day itself. I’ve been more in Darcy’s position when other people ask about the wrong movie/get movies mixed up. Say for example, they’re asking about a specific part of Con Air that’s not from Con Air, I’m confused, they say something about Gary Oldman, it finally clicks, and I ask, “You mean Air Force One?” Offhand I can’t think of anything more important than now having an animation of the Hammer dance.

I'm surprised Herzog hasn't yet called them cowards for not actually getting him. He's been absolutely down for spoofing his own narrating style numerous times, so what's the deal?
