Oh, you know me, Jess, I’m always excited to pull up a seat for Sesska’s Latest Edition of Seeing Things From Both Sides. Start by talking about the overall plot of the episode. I imagine, Jess, you would like the Winchesters to have a nice relaxing spa day in, though I venture a wild guess that the spa they ended up in wasn’t exactly what you had in mind for the boys. I get and appreciate your concern at the beginning of the episode. Yeah, overall, not the most memorable plot. I did love how you have got the same thing I do when you sense a jumpscare on the horizon in that the whole body just clenches. Can’t say I do the little song you did, found that completely adorable, by the way. The highlight, yes, is that this is another episode in which we end on a “really fun and not at all uncomfortable conversation” as you put it. I concur that the honesty shared by the brothers is crucial to them moving on from what has transpired. It won’t happen right away, of course, but baby-steps. I think you’re correct that though Sam is right, at least in part, that Dean was being selfish in what he did to save Sam, there is perhaps the element of Dean needing Sam to live as Sam’s the better man, and the world of Supernatural needs him more than it needs Dean. Likewise, I get what you meant of would the stuff still have happened if Sam had died, and it’s easier for Sam to blame what happened on his forced survival, and regardless of how much he believes that/how accurate such a claim is, it feels like largely guilt talking. Much though it hurt Dean, I think he does need to hear Sam say he wouldn’t have made the same decision. I love, Jess, how you really take the time to observe and analyze from both sides of the brothers’ quarrels and dilemmas. Much though I try to do the same, I find I’m often mean to Dean, for instance, when Dean said that he might not think things all the way through, I deadpanned, “That’s glaringly apparent.” Much though I’m not unsympathetic to his aversion to the vegetable diet, I keep thinking both brothers should take up theatre work, precisely for those situations. You build up a strong ability to go a long time without eating through theatre work, therefore, if Dean is in a situation where “Rabbitt food” is the only option, he can endure. Going back to your comments on the concerns of the beginning of the episode, again, I appreciate the concern. I do hope what I say next does not get misconstrued, or at least I hope I’m not saying things wrong. You speak of your own efforts in weight loss, and I am happy to hear you express pride in yourself for accomplishing what you accomplished. I like that you said your focus was to feel healthier. You spoke of looking back at the older videos and being able to see the difference. I didn’t actively seek to notice it myself, though yeah, I have noticed it myself, and as you said, it was gradual. I’m just happy to hear you’ve made the progress that you’ve made, especially since you say it’s helped your health, anxiety-wise. Of course, like you said, you’re still stuck with the anxiety. As a fellow sufferer, yeah, it is a constant companion in one’s life. You need to get steel-toe boots, cable cutters, and a chainsaw, and spend about a decade or two going to town on my own brain to fix that. Nonetheless, I am happy to hear you share what you shared, I loved your analysis of the episode, and I thank you, Jess, for the most lovely video.
