This show was initially designed to be a single standalone story to set up Kingpin's role in Daredevil Born Again, but after it was such a smash hit both critically and with viewing numbers, Feige is unsurprisingly now looking into possible further uses of the character. And I couldn't be happier, because I loved every moment, and even though this would have been fine as an ending, I'm eager to see what else they can do. Like I said last time, even Maya's willingness to forgive her grandmother works for me because it was properly built up and not treated as an assumed thing that would happen by anyone. I also eagerly look forward to where else Alaqua Cox can go after making this big a splash in her first acting role. She's said she'd really like to do a horror movie, and my immediate idea upon hearing that was now that Hellraiser has been successfully rebooted, she could play someone who survived a youthful encounter with the Cenobites by cutting off her leg and stabbing her eardrums out, and now has to be persuaded to help new people that have messed with them. Or Netflix could continue their live action anime kick with Fullmetal Alchemist, with her as a version of Izumi who lost her leg and hearing rather than parts of her organs.

Yes, very much a standout finale. Love the scene of Skully showing to Chula he kept the sewing machine. You raise the excellent points of Maya’s kind of closed herself off to various things for a while that it is very lovely that she allows her family back in so to speak. Once again, Kingpin is phenomenal. Like you said, when Kingpin loves or cares about someone, he’ll go to some lengths to hold onto them. Even something as pesky as a bullet to the face isn’t going to deter him much. So, Maya rejects him and to your lack of surprise, and to Maya’s shock and horror, Kingpin, well, uh... He... overreacted. As you say, not the biggest shock in the world. He’s a pretty forward man, goals-wise and rage-wise. But if any of that was too cryptic, let’s get literal. Kingpin is a killer. A murdering bastard, you know that. Maya knows that. And there are consequences to breaking the heart of a murdering bastard. Since Maya did just that by rejecting Kingpin, he plans to see to it that she experiences some of those aforementioned consequences. This of course, by no means excuses, explains, and/or justifies Kingpin’s actions. I’m not saying he’s in the right. Merely observing, as you did, given who and what Kingpin is... Was his reaction really THAT surprising? Of course, as you and Maya observed, there are reasons why Maya shot Kingpin in the face, chief among them, her dad, which I am MASSIVELY sympathetic to. Not her fault Kingpin is one tough and stubborn son of a bitch. Fantastic when Maya’s ancestors come together and the family fights back. It was emotional when her Uncle Henry, after having the keep your head down, don’t make waves mentality, drew a line in the sand, and shot the one bad guy. Loved the moment itself, and your reaction to it. Then there’s your favorites, Biscuits and Billy Jack. It was rude when the bad guys were disrespecting Biscuits and Billy Jack, can’t have that. They had a HELL of a moment with the truck. I’m sorry to say I can’t share your opinion of them being your favorites of the show. Mine, unsurprisingly, is Kingpin, one for the character himself, two, because of Vincent who is a treasure. He and Alaqua were so marvelous in their confrontations. And Vincent sold EVERYTHING SO WELL in the scene where he’s transported to the past and sees that wall again. My heart went out to Kingpin in that scene whether it’s supposed to or not. Again, Vincent is that good. I will say of the characters introduced in this series Skully was my favorite. As Ryan says, they did a proper job of building towards Maya’s willingness to forgive Chula. And I second what Ryan said of the ending as is would be a perfectly suitable ending. But given how good this show was, combined with the interest shown, I’m onboard for more with Maya and her family. First though, we will have Kingpin’s bid for politics. A successful bid, presumably, if the comics are any indication, though, maybe they’ll change things up a little. All fairness, I’ll get behind Kingpin running for public office over a certain someone else currently trying to run for office despite numerous legal troubles that the certain someone else is having to deal with and is losing in some cases. In any case, look forward to more of Kingpin in Daredevil season four, sorry, uh, Daredevil Born Again. And I look forward to sharing it with you, Jess, and I foresee it will be as delightful sharing it with you as this show was. Thank you so much for the lovely Echo reactions, Jess.

Again, I’m with you on looking forward to more of this show if it happens. And I again second your feelings on the forgiveness arc. Alaqua has made such a strong debut as Maya. I was very impressed, and I would love to see her do more wonderful work. I’m not that familiar with Fullmetal Alchemist, though I wouldn’t object to your one thought. Seeing Alaqua in Hellraiser would be good. Personally, I could go for her in an Alien and/or The Thing type of film; I’d go for that.

The way the show works is that bringing people back from the dead is the one thing it's absolutely forbidden for an alchemist to do, and anyone who tries loses part of their body as punishment. The hero brothers tried to bring their mother back and one lost an arm and leg while the other is purely a spirit bonded to a suit of armor. Izumi is their alchemy teacher, who tried years ago to bring her stillborn baby back and lost parts of her organs which makes her regularly vomit blood, which can easily be changed to accommodate Cox's condition.

Pretty sure my brother’s talked some about that. If not, he’s got friends and/or I’ve got friends who are big into that, and I might have heard stuff from them. It does sound a most intriguing premise, and yes, the altering of losing organs to losing hearing and a leg would work to accommodate Alaqua if she were cast in the one role.
