Think I'll come to a different conclusion about the show when everything is said and done this time around.

Overanalyzing Netflix's Avatar: Season 2 - Episode 4

My biggest problem with the show this time around is that the gang doesn't have to go places to figure things out. Everything is conveniently there for them to just read or is told to them without any subtext. Obviously a problem with season 1 as well but it was further down the list.

Yeah planning to talk about that feeling again eventually

I love the idea of giving Sokka detective work as something more to do than be emotionally stunted to show him reacting to trauma around relationships.

Fire is two syllables in most English dialects, and is like fye-er. Southerners in the US often pronounce it as one syllable though, and it can be shortened to one in fast speech by pretty much anyone.

It is super lame that Aang is just told what is going down, and it's a part of the larger problem of tell-don't-show that the entire show has. I also think that Long Feng's gaslighting was very well handled, and the emotional connection that we get to the characters actually exists this time unlike in season one, to the point that I think the show made it into an effective emotional moment where I can feel the sort of betrayal and hopelessness that he would feel in a moment like that. This entire season is missed potential, but I still think a lot of the parts where this is true are very strong. And I think the show builds a way stronger emotional core than it does a logical one.

The town Toph's informant guy mentions, "Jang Hui," is actually the Painted Lady village (meaning Toph's parents were selling supplies to make the river-pollution factory).

I prefer the scene with Iroh mourning this way for this show. It’s mostly because of behind the scenes context from the original series but it hit me hard that they chose not to have Iroh sing.
