This is a somewhat important description you may want to read. 1. This did not run into any copyright problems, but sometimes videos do get flagged when they start getting views, so if it goes down, that will be the reason why. 2. I will be posting this to youtube tomorrow as I detailed in my last post on my patreon/youtube plans for covering this show. Go check that post out if you haven't yet. Hope this stays up.

Netflix's Avatar: An Overanalyzing Review

Netflix's Avatar The Last AIrbender has released after 5 years of development. Does the quality match such a long production? Can it hold a candle to the original animated series? TWO VIDEOS AHEAD ON PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/Overanalyzing Netflix Avatar The Last Airbender came out on February 22nd, for better of worse. #avatarthelastairbender #avatar #netflix

I think some of the changes they are making includes the power system. I agree the original power system is better, but I think they are trying to make the different bending styles seem less different from each other, making them literally connected by the things we learn from the Guru, not just metaphorically through the ambiguous energy that is harder to show without animation. They are also showing a lot more of the “Superior element” thing that Zhao says only once in the original show. The styles being applicable across nations, and that being familiar knowledge for enlightened benders, is a more over arching theme about Xenophobia and racism, which makes sense for Hollywood even though they have to make these changes some people may not like, but I think an intended theme for the original show before they got Y-7’d.

The Former Meaning of Life

I didn’t really like bumi in this, it’s not the actor he’s fine it’s the scenario that just feels off, I think the problem was how they revealed him here verse the show, it was too early and made everything afterwards feel stale “I’m challengeing you to prove a point” vs I’m challenging you to mess with you, add mystery, and prove a point”. Feels like they could have done both, have the angry bumi but keep the reveal at the end. Have aang learn mid way through the challenge that it’s bumi culminating in the final scene.

I’d give it a 7.5/10. My main issues are episode 5 with the spirits, avatar Roku and Aang not water bending. Avatar might not be meant for live action so this is probably as good as it gets. Also, Katara and Pakku’s dynamic is super weak compared to the OG show.

I'm calling it now; Mai and Ty Lee are Azula's imaginary friends. They only show up in scenes with Azula and ONLY interact with Azula in each case. This would also explain why they're doing absolutely fuck-all in every scene they appear in.

I really like this video but I feel like its missing structure, in comparison to everything else could be that the show itself has none aswell lol

Hahaha that would be a great way to recon bad writing where some of you're characters do not have any significant interactions with the world besides one other character.
