Obviously pirating is going to happen. What I am hoping to find out, is does pirating actually lead to exposure, and more Patrons.

Most of you who use the pirate site f95zone know that I am active there. The story they always tell is that the exposure from your game being pirate leads to more sales.

I would like to know, how many of you heard of this game through the site F95zone. (This is not an admission of privacy, I really don't have time or effort to care about that). I just want to know how much exposure it actually provides.

Thank you!

*Edit: Just from the early feedback, I want to say, I totally get it. The market is saturated with all sorts of crap. It's hard enough to find something you want to play, let alone pay for.

So for everyone who has/is supporting, I really appreciate it!

Personally when I first started playing AVNs I felt restricted on Steam, so I found F95 and through there I found some really good creators and now I’m Patreon/discord lol

Yolo

It’s good for visibility, but can be very poor when trying to interact with the community there due to the vast amount of entitlement a lot of users have.

mig vin

Found you via F95 .For me no way i would discovered this game and some other of my favs without F95. Piracy sucks for devs. But long term i feel it free advertising in way. Been loyal supporter for 3 years fyi

Dr. Allegedly

I didn't know of F95. But I first found your game on another Site that hosts AVNs then became a patron that way

One thing led to another and for me it came down to supporting and version lag. I've found that F9 seems at times to seriously lag behind the creation. At the same time I can be like a mad shopper standing at the door of the store going, "Open. Open. Open..."

Dr.Dragon

I heard about you on Steam, but the F95Zone is true of other creators I am or have been a paid supporter of.

Bingus Fan

I wouldn’t know you without F95 it really depends on the person though and their character. I liked your game so much that I want it to succeed and so I support you. But there are also games that I play every now and then and I don’t support them. So it varies

Shiyuan

I found you on F95, but been supporting you ever since. It's not all bad eggs on there, they're just the most vocal imo.

gun506 .

I would say good in some ways but still bad in other ways. I use f95, but if I find a game I really like I'll try to support the creator on months where I have money to spare or try to spread word of it to try and help support them in other ways. like you mentioned, it is impossible to completely stop pirating and pirating can help generate exposure and draw in more people. however, I feel that a demo and communication on nsfw game forums would do the same. If there was a nsfw game forums where you could show off demos and discuss porn games it would have the same effect as f95zone without harming creators, but unfortunately an active forum like that without pirating seems impossible. sure, pirate sites can help in some ways, but it doesn't mean the fact that they are problems in other ways goes away.

Elendur

Under no circumstances are they "good" for creators. Yes, they provide you with advertisement, but it's not free. They get your IP at a rate they set (whatever value their advertisement has), they're not accountable to you, and they don't give you a choice. There's nothing "good" about any of that.

Rykia

I found you on F95 and I really liked your game, so I wanted to give you money in support so you can continue.

herpderken

It's very much a double-edged sword. I've seen games get a lot of exposure through f95, which in turn sends more people to the creator's patreon, but I've also seen some creators get absolutely screwed over because of pirating. There's this one creator I follow that had his patreon nuked because someone from the forum reported him because they didn't like the fact that the game had NTR in it. They moved to SS, but the monthly revenue was much lower than on patreon and still hasn't reached patreon levels in over 2 years.

Furstone

Have a talk with Squarepeg3D. He may have some input on this.

Kutlu Mızrak

Without f95, I would not hear of you in a million years tbh.

Kellik

I'm all about helping content creators and F95 has been a relatively good search engine for that. I do think that the "exposure" line is an excuse people trot out for their own convenience, but it's been good to help identify teams and developers I want to support that are doing great work and might not get regularly noticed or completely deplatformed on other service lines.

John Dye

F95zone is how I came across Sexbot and I support the games that I think deserve it in my own opinion. In my case I support Sexbot and recommend Sexbot to others so yes F95zone does help I think. I might not have came across it otherwise. There really needs to be more exposure beyond F95zone other than a publisher.

Roger

Honestly, I learned of it in another Discord server, and then on Steam. Became a paid supporter not long after that

Max1m

I was looking for games like Being A DIK, I just happened to find it on Steam and I wanted to know about other games like that. Enter F95 and after a while I found your game, but i'm going to be honest it took me way too long for me to support you on patreon. That simple fact that I could get so many free games was waaay too tempting, but supported you financially by buying the game on Steam when it released and because I don't typically support projects that started just because of the lack of content I finally pulled the trigger and started supporting you when you announced on a changelog that Emily had an NTR scene on day 6 xD. So long story short it may bring a lot of exposure but how many of that translates to financial support its tough to say, especially when you get people like me that take waaaaaay too long (sorry about that).

Anderson Lake(The Bleach)

I basically found all the games I support through f95. Its a big forum and pretty easy to find stuff.

Lord Eagle

I saw the game on YT as someone else was walking through and became VERY interested. So much so, I joined your Patreon and got the game through here legally. The only thing I might get on F95 would be help with some other games.

Skandranon

There literally *is* no other database of these kinds of games that exists, with tags, voting, etc. Steam doesn't have a 10th of the stuff on there. I'd be the first to back a legit alternative but there isn't one.

raptorscz

Never knew about that site till now, im not really a huge porn game consumer though, found this on steam and it looked interesting, googling walkthroughs though found me two websites that pirate these type of games though at lewdgames.to and gamecore.com. gamecore actually loads your game into a browser window so you dont have to download it you can play it on your phone. I still support though cuz you do an excellent job on this game

Ron Snyder

I found it on steam, saw there was a sequel in development, and subbed for a month to give it a go. Though I probably wouldn't have found out about it without F95zone. Once upon a time though, when I was younger and more of a cheapskate, I definitely would have pirated the first one, and liked it enough to probably pay for it, though.

Pyro's Lewd Den

I saw the game on a different site at the time, but they didnt link the game to you. so i went looking for a working link

Lancehk

I saw the game on F95 and immediately said "Hell yeah! A guy gets a Sexbot?" And signed right up without trying and have not been disappointed. I have tried other games from F95 and found them to be not so great, and some that I signed up right after trying them. I've gotten burned from other devs, so I usually do try them first. That doesn't mean I haven't gotten burned again recently (a dev I have followed for a while hasn't updated or made any posts for 5 months so I unsubscribed), but it does help.

Jizza

That's hard to recommend. You may get some more customers most will not buy in the future, and a lot of minors will be playing.

Små Viking

I didn't find it on F95zone but instead SteamUnlocked; originally I pirated it as a joke because the description was hilarious, but when I played it and really enjoyed the writing, I knew I had to support it. Without piracy I would unfortunately have never found it </3

Bean Burrito

It doesn't apply to your game, but I've found other games on there that I've very much enjoyed and have become a supporter of because of the exposure.

Mana

I found this game and many others through F95zone. IMO it provides great exposure. I’ve supported many games after playing them on F95zone and personally I think I’ve been burned on many creators who promised an update and eventually just stop posting altogether which definitely gives me “kid who touched the hot stove” vibes when I decide to support another creator. All in all it provides great exposure and allows for the consumer to see how dedicated the creator is before investing in the project.

FatBoy Jesss

I found your game on Steam. But I have used pirated sites for other games, that did lead me to their paid versions for more content. Or the files they had were scams/virus. So it also led me to buy the real thing.

Legitimate Child

I found your game through a shop, but I have checked out some other games on a site like that because there's so much shovelware out there.

Akito

The truth is without f95 i would have never found your game. Especially since in my Country steam does not carry porn games and DLsite does not work at all.

Jandro Loyal

This is a really interesting question, and I'm glad you've brought it up. I did not find your game, specifically, on f95zone, as that is not a site a frequent. HOWEVER, there are two other games I happened to stumble across during the few times I've been on that site that I HAVE ended up both purchasing outright, and continue to support here on Patreon. I would not have known they existed otherwise. So... that's my two cents, for what it's worth.

Dongus Rex

I’m an active supporter, I saw it there first.

Dan

if nothing else its a good way to get exposure and to be found, steam is helpful too nowadays

ILoveWhatYouDo

"It's hard enough to find something you want to play, let alone pay for." Also, I suppose there is way less word-of-mouth than for classic games. For classic games, I only buy a game if a friend tells me he's hooked and that knowing my tastes, he thinks I'll like it. For porn games... We just don't talk about it
