Chapter #30: Explanations.

Harry was on the recovering guard of the order’s headquarters, he was staring at the ceiling, these past few days have been useful for him to reflect on everything that has happened in his life since he decided to quit his job, he had many questions about his parents and their activities.

And speaking about them, soon, he was joined by his family alongside Tonks and her mother and of course Hermione wouldn't let this pass on, his best friend was with them too, he didn’t want to get angry at Hermione because he knew she probably had the right reasons not to tell him about this but after everything they’ve gone through, he couldn’t help but feel a little betrayed by her lack of trust, still, he wasn’t going to act irrationally.

He needed to hear their side of the story before he voiced out his real opinions, this could either end with them bonding out or with him snapping at them, but first, he first needed to know who else knew about this operation.

“Who else…Who else knows about this little operation of yours?” Asked Harry without looking at them.

“It seems like you’re back to your normal self…I’m glad,” James said with a calm tone as he sat close to his son’s bed.

“The reality, Harry, is that from our family, only your father and I knew, Andromeda has been a long-time friend and member since the beginning, and Hermione’s circumstances are special, neither Henry nor Tonks knew about this,” Lily told him as she sat on the opposite side of her husband.

“I guess…This is because of your parents, Hermione?” Asked Harry with a calm but serious expression.

She nodded.

“Yes, somehow the order managed to smuggle them out of the country, and they did it while I was supposedly on my way to start my training as an unspeakable,” Hermione said with a sad tone. “I’m so stupid to believe they would willingly invite a muggle-born to join such an important organization, you told me this was a trick, and I didn’t believe you, I never thought the government could do something like that just to get rid of muggle-borns,” she tried to hide her tears.

“It’s alright, Hermione…You shouldn’t be concerned about what happened in the past, just focus on moving on, you weren’t stupid, just naïve, I’m glad that now you finally see the world in the way I see it,” Harry told her with the most assuring smile.

He thought he was going to release his anger at her, and now, he felt guilty for even thinking his best friend would betray him and put him aside just to be with the order.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about this, Harry, but…We thought we were the only ones who were fighting against them, it was clear that after the recent deaths of many of his death eaters that there was someone else out there rebelling against him, still, we didn’t tell you because we didn’t want to put all of you guys in danger, sadly Hermione had to be exposed,” James couldn’t help but say as he massaged his temples.

Harry couldn’t help but gulp at the mention of the other group, it’s clear they were talking about his small feats, his faction consisted only of him, Tonks, and Malfoy, recently, the released inventors were added to his ranks, but the operation was still small.

Now that Harry heard everything, he had time to think, something was bothering him since he was imprisoned, that day when he was arrested, he and Draco had been watching memories, and there was something that suddenly seemed to click for him, the locations of the pieces of soul and the map he found, maybe there was a connection between them.

“So…What do we do now, Tonks?” Asked Harry with a curious expression.

Everyone was taken aback by the fact that he seemed to value someone else’s opinion, Harry had always been kind of stubborn, and if he believed fire could freeze you, he wouldn’t believe otherwise unless he got proven wrong, that’s what led him to his discovery of frozen fire, a recipe that had been lost for centuries, it doesn't do much but it's cool (no pun intended).

So, hearing him consider someone else’s opinion was something that showed he was clearly maturing, it was obvious that he cared about his girlfriend, so, in his head, it made sense to listen to her concerns, however, this questioning was more related to the fact that they were running their secret operation too.

“Harry…I think we should be honest with your parents about…You know what,” Tonks told him before she got on her knees and held one of his hands as if her life depended on it.

“Guys, are you two…?” Hermione questioned with a small smirk.

“Yes, Hermione…We’re an item now, you were right the whole time about the crush I had on Tonks, happy now?” Harry told her as he rolled his eyes.

The bookworm couldn’t help but giggle, and Harry could only sigh.

“What is Tonks talking about, Harry?” Asked Henry with a serious expression.

Harry remained silent for a few moments, then he did something they didn’t expect, he got on his feet, he moved towards the window, and stared at the endless terrain that surrounded this building, there were many crops and animals, it was clear this place worked like some kind of cult.

“You guys mentioned something about that other group that is fighting against the dark lord and…His death eaters, that's the name used for his followers, right?” He questioned his father, who nodded.

Harry remained in silence as he stared at the floor before Tonks joined him, her hand entwined with his.

“That group is none other than me, Tonks and someone else I prefer to keep in secret, for security reasons, he’s a death eater working for me, but I can assure he’s not a threat to me as he made an unbreakable vow after trying to kill me, I spared his life in exchange for him becoming my spy, so, if he dares to reveal any bit of information or something related to our operations, he’s going to have a very painful death, that's how it feels when you break and unbreakable vow or so I've heard,” Harry told them.

The room was filled with gasps, Harry knew his brother and Malfoy were dating, but as long as it served his purposes, Draco was more useful out there than with him, the guy was also doing that to keep his parents safe once Voldemort decided to get rid of them.

And even if Harry hates the ferret, he’s a man of his word that tries to stick to his promises, so, if keeping the elder Malfoys alive was the price he had to pay to have such a good spy, he would gladly pay, after all, both Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy are pathetic on their own.

“You…What?” Lily was furious.

“You’ve been doing all that behind our backs?!” James said with a serious expression.

“I can’t believe this,” Henry said as he grabbed his hair, clearly a bit angry.

It was clear that his older brother wasn’t pleased by his actions, but Harry knew he wasn’t acting like this out of concern, it was more about the fact that Harry found his own path while Henry, the heir, had been living his life as if nothing wrong was going on in the world.

“That’s…Amazing,” James suddenly said with a happy expression.

Never in his life had Harry seen his father looking at him like that, and he didn’t want to get his hopes high, but he seemed to look…Proud.
