Chapter #32: The truth hurts.

“So, what’s going on here?” Asked Sirius with a confused expression.

Then he looked at who was resting on the bed, it was Harry, the older wizard couldn’t stop himself from smirking.

“Well, if it isn’t my favorite godson…Those bandages look great on you!” Sirus told him with a cheerful expression. “Just don’t let Bill Weasley see you, we don’t want him to confuse you with a mummy!” Sirius winked at him.

“I’m your only godson!” Harry remarked with a not-so-amused expression.

“Do you think it was a good idea to call him?” Asked James with a worried expression.

“There’s only one way to find out…” Harry didn’t even wait, he just got up with his wand in his hand.

Harry’s godfather couldn’t help but chuckle seeing his godson acting so serious, however, his amused expression disappeared when he was suddenly restricted to a chair by Harry himself.

“Wait…What are you doing?!” Sirius clearly wasn’t amused anymore.

“Dad…I think it’s time for us to have a private conversation with my godfather, in case he doesn’t know what we’re talking about, we’ll erase his memories,” Harry’s words were cold.

Sirius could only nervously laugh.

“That’s funny, this prank has been great, guys!” Sirius said with a cheerful expression. “It’s a prank, right guys?” Sirius asked nervously.

The other occupants understood that they needed privacy, so, reluctantly, they left the room, Tonks got close to her boyfriend and soon, they shared a quick but passionate kiss.

“Well, well, who would’ve thought that our dear Nymphadora would fall for someone younger than her…I’m so proud of you both, especially you, Harry, at your age, I would’ve killed for just a date with a beautiful older metamorph,” Sirius winked at him.

Tonks was trying her best not to release her anger at Sirius as he was starting to get annoying, instead, she left the room, but not before showing Sirius her tongue, the older wizard could only chuckle.

Except Sirius, Harry, and James, the rest left the room, and soon, the place was silenced with a charm, so that nothing of what they were planning to say would come out of this room.

“So…If this isn’t a prank, I don’t know what you guys are expecting to hear from me, I swear you guys, I’m not a traitor!” Sirius was worried about what was going to happen to him.

“Oh, stop whining, you old mutt!” James complained. “We want to know everything you know about…Horcruxes,” James' words quickly changed Sirius' expression.

There was no amusement, only horror written all over the long-haired wizard's face, for Sirius, that word could only be associated with pain, he didn’t want to remember those days when his cousins were younger and tried to hex him with their parents' wands, those days when their lives were controlled by the previous leader of the Black family.

“I don’t know what you guys are trying to use that information for, but…I can’t help you, even if it costs me my life, I don’t want you guys to get a crazy idea and try to make one of those cursed things on your own!” Sirius spat with a shocked expression.

“It’s not for us, Sirius,” Harry said with a calm tone.

“Then what is—” The head of the Black family suddenly realized where this was going. “Don’t tell me that…He made horcruxes?!” Asked Sirius on the verge of collapsing.

Harry didn’t have time to be subtle, they were actually running out of time, so, they needed to get to know as much as they could with the little time they had, so they could destroy them.

“Yes, he made six, Dumbledore and I theorized that, but that theory has just recently been confirmed,” explained James, and both he and Harry shared concerned expressions.

They were on a race against time, once Voldemort gets to know about what happened in Harry’s place, he’s not going to have mercy on them or any other person, it was obvious that the dark lord is going to get angry, and he wasn't only going to punish the culprits.

“We don’t want to create one Sirius…We just want to know how to destroy them!” Harry was almost begging, they needed that information, and Sirius was the only available person who could provide them with that information.

Sirius remained silent for a few moments, he was thinking about what to do or say, but in the end, he released a sigh.

“Horcruxes are evil pieces, it’s a ritual that must be performed perfectly, there’s no room for mistakes, if the ritual succeeds, a wizard or witch can split their soul and place it in an object, this creates the illusion of immortality but even if the spirit has been divided, the meat, it gets corrupted, you might not even look human after that,” Sirius explained and Harry nodded.

“Is there a way to destroy them?” Asked Harry with a curious expression.

“Fire…Lots of it, in fact, fiendfyre would work very well to destroy them!” Sirius said with a calm tone.

Finally, they got something, this was something Harry liked about his godfather, the man was more reliable than how he looked, but he also had the bad habit of wanting to look cool in front of any audience.

“The killing curse works on it too,” Sirius added, and Harry groaned at the thought of having to use that spell. “You-know-who uses that attack too much that it has become a part of himself, but for the rest of us, using the killing curse might not be as easy as we think,” Sirius couldn’t help but sigh.

“So our options are either burning our house down with fiendfyre or pray for the killing curse to be successfully cast, even though none of us have used that spell before,” James couldn’t help but sigh.

“I think for now we should focus on finding the objects, thank you for helping us, Sirius, but…it’s time for you to forget this conversation happened,” Harry said with a disappointed tone.

“No, wait, don’t erase my memories…I can help you guys destroy them, I can be useful, there's another thing we can use now, it may sound crazy, but it could work!” Sirius begged.

Harry was worried about his godfather’s attitude, so, in the end, Harry and James decided not to erase his memories, but now they needed to find those objects, and after almost twenty years, James still had no idea how they the hell they were going to get them, it was as if they were shooting spells in the darkness praying it would hit the target, they were only relying on tales for now.

Or at least that's what James thought it was going to be, but then, Harry took out a piece of paper and placed it on a table, Sirius was now free to move around, so, he used this opportunity to analyze the map.

“Little Hangleton, does that place tell you something?” Harry asked the pair.

James tried to remain stoic, but he couldn’t, in the end, he nodded before he gulped.

“Yes, Dumbledore told me everything about this place…Turns out that this is Tom Riddle’s hometown…And Tom Riddle is no other than the dark lord himself,” James declared with a serious expression.

Both Harry and Sirius gasped at the words of the leader of the Potter family.

“Is this the place where he got the cursed object he put his finger on?” Harry questioned, and James felt a bit embarrassed until he nodded.

Things were starting to get interesting for Harry, the game between them and the dark lord was starting to get even.
