Chapter #21: Planting the seed.

One year later…

“Ladies and gentlemen, this evening, as the supreme muwump and leader of this organization, I’d like to introduce you to the young man who helped to get rid of the darkest wizard in centuries…Harry Potter,” Albus Dumbledore said with a cheerful tone.

Soon, the place was filled with cheers; they were fans of the young man who destroyed Voldemort, and they had some expectations about him, they wanted to hear directly from the young man who planned how to get rid of Voldemort, took the place of someone else, and yet, he succeeded at it.

“Thank you so much for your attention, ladies and gentlemen from the International Confederation of Wizards,” Harry said with a cheerful tone.

The claps continued, and when they died out, Harry prepared himself for what he had come for.

“Many people have asked me what I’ve been doing since the defeat of Voldemort? Well, I’ve been focusing on my education, but at the same time, I’ve done work for other areas like the supervision of the new magical universities, a model that has become quite popular in the magical world, Mexico, USA, Canada, Peru, Japan, Thailand, Egypt, New Zealand…Those are just a few of the countries that have adopted this education system,” Harry bowed after the representatives of those countries.

They smiled at him, and Harry remained silent for a moment.

“The innovations that have been created from this program, at least in magical Britain, are incredible. We’ve managed to catch up to Muggles to some degree. Turns out that my parents left out lots of inventions, like this one…” Harry took out a small mirror.

Everyone looked at him expectantly. Dumbledore was a bit nervous, then the old wizard felt something buzzing in his cloak, and soon, he took out a mirror just like Harry’s. Everyone looked at the scene with interest.

“Hello, professor? Can you hear me?” Asked the dark-haired wizard with a smile.

“Not only can I hear you, Harry, I can see you too,” the old wizard showed everyone how he and Harry were able to talk to each other in real time through the mirror.

“This, my friends, it’s a communication mirror, it’s inspired by a muggle device called cellphones, soon, the fabrication and distribution on magical Britain of these devices is going to start and it’s all thanks to the laws that have been recently approved, I know some people thought they were polemic as they think it could put the secrecy of our world at risk but…We’ve been testing this for months, no accident has taken place, muggles aren’t aware of this, although I must say that without my parents’ work and many muggleborn witches and wizards with their knowledge about physics and math, this wouldn’t have been possible,” Harry took a pause.

He waited for the reactions; there were some mixed, and others were curious about what he was going to say next.

“I think it’s a shame that muggles not only will miss something like this, trust me, they’d love a device like this that can function until the mirror breaks, one small infuse of magic is enough to make this work,” Harry’s words were carefully studied. “Also, as magicals, we’re losing a potential eight billion consumers, think about it, ladies and gentlemen, eight billion,” Harry finished.

Whispers soon started; some people clearly started to see where he was going, after all, this is not the first time they’ve witnessed someone trying to push what Harry was trying to push.

“I think it’s time to say goodbye to the status of secrecy…I think it’s holding our innovation, and it’s holding us back in many other areas,” Harry finally finished. “As someone who was raised in the Muggle world, and someone who loves magic, I can say that my dream utopia is one where Muggles and magicals can live amongst each other,” Harry smiled at them.

Now they seemed to be a bit uncomfortable, but Harry never lost his composure.

“This, my friends, this magical mirror was created using my parents and their friends’ work, with my mother contributing the most, for those that don't know, she was a Muggleborn. I just want you to imagine what kind of things muggles wizards would be able to create if they worked together…Now, I’m not asking you to reveal ourselves to the muggles as easily, after all, it’s all a dream, but I just want you to think about it…Thanks for your attention,” Harry bowed.

He tried to look as humble as possible, and even though it looked like he didn’t succeed, it was all the opposite. Harry was more than satisfied with his speech; he was happy that he managed to plant a seed of doubt.

But what Harry didn’t know is that there was a representative of an international organization that works behind the scenes, it’s not the FBI, nor the CIA, nor even the Interpol, no, this organization is more in charge of the supernatural stuff, their specialty is things like magic and aliens.

This is an organization that works for all the presidents in the Muggle world. It’s financed by them, and they only know once they get that position, once their term ends, their memories are erased by the wizards and witches who work in the organization. One agent from that organization is a witch who's wearing a black suit.

“What do you think, Miss Penelope Clearwater? Look at what you guys have to resort to mimic a percentage of what we can do,” the British prime minister told the young witch.

The woman could only chuckle; she was able to detect the sarcasm behind the minister’s words.

“As a muggleborn witch, I can safely say that I’m impressed, Minister. I remember Harry Potter from the sorting ceremony; he didn’t impress me back then, but to know that he achieved in a year what took us decades is impressive, to say the least. I left the magical world because I was tired of how stagnant it was, but…I feel hopeful now, it seems like our plans are moving towards their goal without us even interfering,” the blonde told the minister, who smirked.

“Do you think it’s going to be that easy? We’re lucky that he’s British, as you know, my dear, we need to hurry up and unite as a country, the last thing we want is for other countries to get the magical technology for themselves,” the minister was thoughtful right now.

“I think we should wait to see how these stuck-up wizards react, the younger generation was listening interested while the older ones looked a bit conflicted, they’re scared of what’s new…This statute has been in place for centuries, ever since muggles were scared of magic and thought it was demonic,” Penelope couldn’t help but sigh.

“Do you want the statute to be gone? How do you think the rest of humans are going to react if it were revealed that magic and wizards are real?” The minister was looking a bit worried.

“A few years ago, during the early days of the pandemic, the American government confirmed that UFOs were real, and yet, even though it was huge news, people moved on with their lives…Mysteries are great, minister, but those things don’t pay your bills, so, in my opinion, they will be shocked, but most of all, they’re going to be interested in how this discovery benefits or affects them,” the witch told the minister with complete honesty.

She couldn’t believe that the scrawny boy got smarter and hotter.
