Chapter #13: The truth, part II.
Harry finally did it; he defeated Voldemort, and he was gone, but sadly, his loved ones and friends were gone too. There was nothing left for him; he was tired, and because of this, he couldn’t help but fall on the ground. He stared at the sky, which was still grey; it fitted his loneliness, or so he thought before he started to hear a crazy laugh.
Then everything his eyes were seeing started to distort; however, he took one last look at the person who was laughing, and it was the last person he expected. It was Bellatrix Lestrange; he thought she had been killed by Molly, but it seems like that was far from the truth.
“What the… You bitch… What are you doing?!” Harry demanded angrily.
The older witch could only cackle; she was loving the way Harry was reacting to what was going on.
“You killed him… You killed my master, and now everyone is going to pay; there won’t be mercy!” Bellatrix said happily. “I’m restarting the universe, and it’s all thanks to this spell that I found in the library of the Black family. You know what the best thing about that spell is? Because I am the caster, I’m going to remember everything, and I’m going to avoid this reality from happening… Goodbye, Potter, you won’t have a second chance!” Bellatrix mocked him.
Then everything became black, and Harry’s eyes widened. He was back in the terrain in the middle of nowhere with Bellatrix Black, who was pointing her wand at him.
“Did you listen to anything I said?” The older witch asked with a serious expression.
“No… I just had a flashback… I suddenly remembered how you restarted the universe using a spell found in the Black family library,” Harry confessed with honesty.
There was no point running away; he knew he was going to die and that the world was going to end soon. He was already preparing for the inevitable. Bellatrix erased Voldemort’s presence, and somehow, she has him somewhere else, and once he dies, Voldemort is going to rise in power, and he won’t be able to stop him.
“You truly played dirty… A spell like that… It’s too powerful. I just want to know one thing: what’s your purpose with this? Are you going to kill Hermione to make your master happy? I can already imagine her disappointment once you kill her in front of the person you truly love,” Harry said with a sad expression.
Life was truly cruel; the universe liked to play wicked games with him, but he was already tired. At least he was finally going to rest from this eternal suffering; he hoped they would rule for eternity so he would never go through this again.
“Didn’t you hear me? I’m going to become Bellatrix Black Granger… I would never hurt the love of my life,” she said with a cold tone. “As for you… I’m just going to erase your memory,” the older witch stated with a blank expression.
Harry was surprised to hear those words; he was expecting her to mock him. However, her expression remained the same.
“Not that I’m happy that you’re erasing my memory, but… Why? You’re a Death Eater; killing me would be better for you,” Harry said with a surprised tone.
“I’m not the same Bellatrix you’re used to,” she stated, and Harry was confused. “Do you remember when we met in this universe?” She questioned him with an arched brow.
“Yes, Hermione and I, we met you during Draco’s eighteenth birthday and—” Harry was about to continue.
However, he suddenly realized something. After that day, the memories of his past started to appear until he finally reached a breaking point a few days ago when he remembered the last thing he did before the universe collapsed.
“It seems like you started to remember, yes, I started to remember my previous life back then, too. Why did that happen? Well, after checking out the spell once again, I found out that it was because we were in the same place when the spell was applied, and because we were the last people interacting then, as a consequence, eventually the two of us would remember our past lives at some point,” she answered with a calm tone.
Harry remained thoughtful for a while.
"Also... The spell was full of errors; in fact, I'm surprised the universe didn't just disappear. The spell actually sucks all the energy that it finds," she sighed.
“I still don’t understand why you aren’t trying to destroy the world… Wasn’t that the purpose of all this?” He asked with a curious expression adorning his face.
“Well, that was the plan, but I didn’t count on the fact that for things to go as I wished, the universe needed to stay the same, what I mean is the two universes needed to be the same, but sadly that didn’t happen, I don’t know what happened in the past to make my parents loving and caring but they were the same awful people from my previous life,” she said with a smirk.
Harry couldn’t believe it; he knew how awful the Black family was, so hearing her say they were loving now was a crazy concept.
“I grew up to become a good person, I worked my ass in the Auror forces, I think I’m a good person in this universe, but then… We met, and the memories came back, memories of a person that I didn’t recognize, but it was me; however, I didn’t want to become that monster, and also, the fact that the dark lord didn’t exist in this universe helped me avoid that fate.” She sat beside him.
“So… What do we do now?” He asked with a serious expression.
“I’m obliviating you… This burden should be mine to carry only. I know we don’t get along in the Auror forces, and I like to annoy you in front of Hermione because I fear you might snatch her from me and turn her into your third wife, just as everyone expects,” she admitted, and Harry laughed.
Then he did something he never thought he would: he decided to hug her, and to say this took her aback would be the understatement of the century.
“I'm already satisfied knowing what truly happened with my original universe. You don’t have to carry this burden alone… We both love Hermione, I think we can get along, and as long as we remember those memories, we can work to create a world in which we can finally be happy. What do you think?” Harry suggested.
That was the hardest question Bellatrix had been asked.
A year later…
It’s been a year since the memories came back, and now his wives were already expecting, he couldn’t help but smile at the thought of becoming a father, right now there was a party to celebrate the end of Fleur and Daphne’s pregnancies. Harry was standing in a corner when he was approached by Bellatrix.
“Hey,” she said as she gave him a glass with firewhisky.
“Thank you,” he said before taking a small sip.
“How are you feeling? I still can’t believe I have this life, I’m not a monster, I’m married to an amazing witch, and she’s expecting our first child after we did the pregnancy ritual, it’s so crazy, but I think I can finally say I have a happy life,” she said, satisfied.
“Let’s celebrate for that, let’s keep that secret until the day we abandon this existence,” both of them celebrated.
Fantasy or reality… It doesn’t matter what’s done is done, these are their lives now, the memories of a past life are going to haunt them forever, but right now, it felt okay to accept things as they were, now they were looking forward to a better future.
