Chapter #13: Back to school.
The day finally came, Harry was going back to school, and he didn’t know how to feel about it, it doesn’t make sense for him to come back but on the other hand, if he wanted to create a movement, he needed to get people to follow him, yes, he knew he was sounding like Voldemort right now, however, he doesn’t want to be blindly followed.
He just wants to unite people in a movement that will change magical society forever, which is a very difficult task because this society refuses to change, he was walking close to the station in London, he was wearing nothing out of the ordinary, white sneakers, blue jeans and a grey hoody, the rest of his stuff was in his pocket, he was thankful that he was able to shrank his trunk.
He arrived early, so he decided to grab a bite nearby. Fish and chips sounded great, despite being a very iconic British dish; it wasn’t usual to see it in Hogwarts often, so it was going to take a long time before he tasted this again. After finishing his food, he decided to take the train.
He entered the magical platform, and inside, there weren’t many people yet, which was a good thing because he wanted to find a good seat to be alone; he wanted to focus on his plans and what he was going to do this year. The original Harry of this universe wasn't a very good student; he only managed to get into one class for his final year: Advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts.
It’s crazy, but in the wizarding world, for those students who don’t do well in most classes, they can specialize in one subject, and because that’s the best grade he got last year, he was only attending for the 'Advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts' class. Ironically, that's going to be an interesting class.
After all, he didn’t attend his last year of education in his original universe because of the war and all that stuff; he was too traumatized, and Hogwarts didn’t look like the magical place he was used to; he could only see death and pain in the walls after the war.
However, it’s been more than ten years since that, and it’s been more than enough time for Harry to somewhat move on, so at least he’ll be able to attend without making an emotional scene. All the people who died during the war are here; they’re alive, even if it’s not the versions he was used to. They were alive, so at least he won’t have to worry about other people's safety now.
Harry walked around, and then he was surprised to find the Potters already there. He realized that the parents were startled after seeing him. Well, he has changed since last summer; however, Harry didn’t pay them much attention. He was able to see that Sirius and Remus were there too; however, he had priorities, so he just walked close to them and nodded before he entered the Hogwarts Express.
The train was almost empty; however, Harry almost gasped when he saw a known person, it was Nymphadora Tonks, an Auror on the train only meant one thing, either they were looking for someone, for something, or they were preparing for an attack. Dumbledore surely was preparing for the worst this year.
“Oh, Hi, I’m—” the Auror almost said, but her clumsiness was still the same as it was in this universe.
She was about to fall, but Harry quickly used his wand to save her from slamming her face against the floor.
“Be careful, miss…?” Harry asked with a fake, confused expression.
Tonks didn’t know how to feel. She has been saved not only by a student but by someone she was supposed to watch over. Soon, a memory came to her as she stared directly at his beautiful green eyes.
She was in a private meeting with Dumbledore, the old wizard had a worried expression, and the Auror felt a bit worried about what she was going to be told.
“Tonks… As you know, the world is in danger… He’s coming back soon... I'm talking about you know who,” she shivered as she heard those words. “And this is the perfect time for young, naïve students to fall into that trap of power and violence that he presents for them to take it in exchange for their loyalty,” Dumbledore’s words made her gulp.
“That sounds terrible… Is there something we can do to stop them?” Tonks asked nervously.
“Yes… We need good influences in the students' lives, we need young, successful people like you to show them that there’s hope for anyone as long as they work hard,” the aged wizard told her with a soft smile.
“I would love to do that, Albus, but… I love my job as an Auror. I would like to make a difference in the world by changing people’s minds, but… I also want to change the world by capturing those evil people who threaten our existence,” the purple-haired witch couldn’t help but sigh. This was such a hard decision.
“Well… Luckily, I have a post available for you… Only one class for you to teach… One day a week… The advanced ‘defense against the dark arts” class. I pulled some strings so you could have a few hours off to teach that class. Think about it,” Dumbledore winked at her before he left her alone to think about the offer.
She ended up accepting; however, she was especially asked to watch over a certain person, a young man with emerald eyes just like Lily Potter. According to Dumbledore, the young man carried a curse that could destroy the world, which is why it was important for him not to fall into Voldemort’s hands.
Tonks came back to reality, and she realized that she had been silent for far too long; she could put the plan in danger if she didn't say something. Harry Dursley must not know that she’s going to spy on him.
“So, she was hired to give the advanced dark arts class by Dumbledore to spy on me… Very well, this is getting interesting,” Harry thought with an amused expression.
Yes, he was now a master at Occlumency and Legilimency. Turns out that the Horcrux was holding his abilities back; it makes sense, even if it was something unconscious, the thing was holding him back on purpose to avoid him becoming a threat to Voldemort.
Years have passed since the Horcrux inside him died, so he has a lot of experience. Thanks to that, he's able to quickly read minds without being noticed. He knew it was dangerous to do that with Tonks, as she could be one of the few people who could tell what he was doing as he stared directly into her rainbow-colored eyes. Luckily, she was starstruck because she already met her objective.
“Tonks… The name’s Tonks, don’t call me another name, well, maybe if you’re in my class, you can call me Professor Tonks,” she said as she got back to her feet.
Harry nodded with a calm expression.
“Very well, Professor Tonks,” he said with a soft smile.
The older witch couldn’t help but gulp after hearing him call her that.
“Well, I'd better leave you to your duties, Professor. See you later!” He told her with a smirk.
She couldn’t help but blush. She knew it was wrong, but she couldn’t help but admit that he was attractive.
“Remus, you idiot… You'd better notice my advances, or someone is going to steal me away from you!” She told herself as she watched Harry find a compartment.
Harry, meanwhile, was satisfied with what he had just done; the fun was just starting.
